South Dakota Voter Guide - U.S. House of Representatives

The South Dakota Family Policy Council has compiled a voter guide which covers a broad range of questions which can help you vote your values when picking a candidate to represent South Dakota in the U.S. House of Representatives today.

Candidates are Democrat incumbent Rep. Stephanie Herseth Sandlin and Republican Chris Lien.

The questions asked of candidates are as follows:

Support HR 1592 (2007), which enhanced punshiments for hate crimes committed out of bias against victims' sexual preferences?

Support HR 3685 (2007), which granted employees special protections based on sexual preferences?

Support HJRES 88 (2006), the homosexual marriage ban?

Support HR 3 (2007), which prohibited the use of taxpayer funds for human cloning?

Support HAMDT 594 to HR 3034 (2007), which restricted funding for abortion services?

Support HR 748 (2005), which prohibited the transportation of a minor girl across state lines
to obtain an abortion without the consent of a parent, guardian, or judge?

Support HR 8 (2005), the permanent repeal of the estate tax?

Support HAMDT 1156 to HR 5672 (2006), which prohibited federal funds from being used to enforce a provision requiring trigger locks on guns?

Support HR 5429, which allowed for oil exploration in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge?

Support HAMDT 484 to HR 2829 (2007), which stripped the Federal Communications Commission of its authority to reinstitute the so-called "Fairness Doctrine," which would order broadcasters to give equal air time to both sides of controversial issues?
