Contempt for the Constitution

Doesn't this really sum up the contempt the Left has for the United States Constitution?

The Pittsburgh City Council just passed a firearms restriction requiring that anyone report a lost or stolen firearm report that within 24 hours or potentially face a $500 fine.

When opponents questioned the constitutionality of the law, Democrat Councilwoman Tonya Payne dismissed such concerns:

"Who really cares about it being unconstitutional?"

Everyone should care whether our laws are constitutional.

Because if they are not, it's likely they rob us of our freedom and independence.

But most importantly, because if it isn't constitutional, it isn't legal. The U.S Constitution is the highest law of our land; it is the measuring stick by which all other laws are measured...and if they do not measure up, they cannot stand.

Too often liberals take the attitude of this woman when they push their pieces of Marxist drivel they want to make law.

Constitution and freedom be damned! We've got a socialist Utopia to build!

Hang onto the Constitution with all your strength, Americans. It is the primary defender of your freedom, and your key bulwark against oppression.

And don't let liberals like this get away with such oath-violating contempt for our Constitution.

I think this sums up the contempt that Pittsburgh Councilwoman Tonya Payne in particular has for the U.S. Constitution, and that's probably where your commentary should have ended. It's really unfair to take Payne's statement and generalize it onto an entire group as if to say that this is how ALL liberals think. People aren't as homogeneous as you'd like them to be. Let individuals speak for themselves and don't project one person's opinion onto others.

How would you like it if someone took an unflattering or stupid comment made by a Republican and said that this is how most conservatives, including you, think?

I agree with you, Bob, that everyone should care whether our laws are constitutional. That should go for conservative Republicans too who over the last eight years tried to shred every part of the Constitution except the 2nd Amendment.

Anonymous 9:19, did I say ALL liberals think this way? I don't believe I did. You might want to go back and read what I said again.

Really, Anonymous 10:26? Which parts of the Constitution, and specifically in what ways?

While we're at it, I'm also curious to know if you've heard any conservatives verbalizing such contempt for the Constitution as Councilwoman Payne?

Do you need to say "all" to generalize as broadly as you did? Besides, we all know that's what you're thinking anyway.

I'm glad you can read minds, Anonymous 1:01. Most of us aren't so blessed. I think your mind-reading ability might still have some bugs in it, though. Might want to re-read the post...again (unless you're one of those liberals who does have contempt for the Constitution--in which case, don't bother).

Ah,yes. One might think that this outburst on the part of the councilwoman falls clearly in line with Maxine Water's remarks about socializing the oil industry.

Now that it would appear they have friends in very high places, some of those who have never honored this country's laws feel free to speak their hearts own truth in public.

Perhaps by so doing, they will encourage some to see them for the self-serving socialistic "public servants" that they are.
