America's Counties Still Red

Newsmax points out that, by county, America is still a red nation.

Urban areas with high population density can end up swinging results another way. For some reason that still escapes me, population density tends to breed liberalism. I don't know if it's that there isn't enough air to go around and folks in these areas get loopy from oxygen deprivation...or if the freedom of having a little elbow room as we do in the more rural areas inspires the traditional spirit of American independence...or something else entirely.

In any event, no huge changes through the last three presidential elections.

Acres don't count people do.

Population density means less elbow room, but it also means a more flourishing exchange of ideas, exposure to different types of people and cultures, and the realization that we can't all live in a vacuum, cut off from reality (aka in South Dakota).

That's a good point, Nick; it really comes down to the raw number (or at least as far as it influences the electoral college).

However, except for cities, counties are our most basic level of governmental organization. It's good to see that while large urban blocks have opted for mindless un-American liberalism, the small-town areas where average Americans live still retain their sanity.

Anonymous, the irony is that it's the folks crammed together in liberal enclaves who are cut off from reality.

Liberal ideas of "reality include thinking...

- the answer to any crime, infraction, or injustice is counseling

- only white folks are racist

- 911 was America's fault

- Bush invaded Iraq for free oil (gas prices are proof of that)

- America should be denounced when a soldier accidentally kills a civilian, but terrorists blowing up restaurants or school buses is no big deal

- France or Cuba are better places than the United States

- the top 10% of earners paying 70% of the federal tax burden means the wealthy "aren't paying their fair share"

There's such a thing as being so open-minded that you'll fall for anything. And that is modern liberalism.

Mob Mentality.

The only way thoughts can flow freely would be through Osmosis. Especially when you have to look over your shoulder to speak a different point of view.

My grandpa used to say "Don't be so open-minded that your brains fall out."

Yeah, like the folks in Portland, Manhattan, San Francisco, Chicago, Detroit, Miami, etc.. Full of diversity, tolerance and multiculturalism. Why, any opinion, belief, or life-style is welcome—as long as you’re gay, liberal, anti-war, anti-Bush and anti-American. Being anti-white is also a plus.
