The Special Ed Smear

The Weekly Standard points out a couple of interesting things about the latest volley against Alaska Governor and vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin.

The latest smear from the Left is that, while Palin has a new baby boy with Down syndrome, she cut government funding for special ed.

Just one problem: reductions were from a budget formulated under outgoing Governor Frank Murkowski, whom she defeated.

Based on recommendations from a legislative task force, the Alaska legislature passed and Palin signed an education overhaul which increased special needs spending 175%.

The second interesting thing pointed out by the Weekly Standard:

It's no wonder a majority of Americans think the media is trying to hurt Palin.

Meanwhile, the community organizer on the Democrat ticket continues to get a pass for his connections to domestic terrorists, sleazy slumlords, defending infanticide, and being the most liberal senator in congress.

No wonder, indeed.

It's like the lame claim that she "cut funding for teen moms" when what she actually did was reduce a huge increase to a merely large one.

Which goes to show how desperate they are.
