Who else said this paying higher taxes is patriotic?....hmm lemme think...oh yea the guy on Mount Rushmore. Teddy Roosevelt said it. Wasn't he a Republican? Hmmm Didn't John McCain say he was a "Teddy Roosevelt Republican." Glad to see those with wealth who benefit the most from America's free market will help pay for the Government that allowed them to get rich.

Teddy Roosevelt isn't exactly the epitome of Republican values, nor the values that made America great.

And neither is John McCain.

But consider this: when Teddy Roosevelt was president, we had no income tax, and we did not have the welfare state begun under FDR. At that time, our taxes went more toward expenditures authorized by the Constitution, whereas today, half or more of our taxes feed the welfare state--which is most certainly not authorized by the Constitution.
