Back Home from the Values Voter Summit

Just got home from a great time at the Values Voter Summit.

The latter part of yesterday afternoon was taken up by breakout sessions. I attended one on the impact of blogging on the political realm, and another on the upcoming effort by the Alliance Defense Fund to restore full constitutional freedom of religion to America's pulpits--more on that soon.

Last night was the gala dinner honoring Chuck Colson, who went from being President Nixon's "hatchet man" to an incredible apologist for the Christian faith.

This morning was an awesome standing-room-only worship service where Tony Perkins, president of the Family Research Council preached a fantastic sermon (Tony has been a preacher for years, before heading up the FRC) and had a special prayer time for those who have been hit hard by the hurricane in Texas; there were several in our midst.

I had lunch with some folks yesterday including a lady from that area. When I asked her about it, she said she had no idea what--if anything--she'd be going back to when she left the conference. Though obviously concerned, she nevertheless had a relative peace about it that could only have come from God.

With all the computer problems I had this weekend, I'm way behind the curve on getting pictures ready and so on, but I hope to post some from this weekend soon.

My time at the summit this year was even more hectic and fast-paced than last year, but it was certainly worth it. The people I met, the things I saw and did, the fun I had...wow! I thought last year was great, but I got to do it yet again. As I told a friend on the way to the airport this afternoon as we left D.C.: "God has certainly blessed me. I've had the trip of a lifetime...twice!"
