Obama's Pastor Despises Successful Black People

I hate to keep beating this drum about Barack Obama and his pastor. However, when Obama continues to dodge the question of how much he knew of his pastor's racist, anti-American opinions, and continues to excuse Rev. Jeremiah Wright by claiming the man just brought some baggage from the 1960s, the truth and accuracy of such statements is important to verify.

Now ABC News has reported on some other comments from Rev. Wright that indicates he not only has contempt for America, and not only has contempt for whites, apparently he has contempt for blacks who aren't "black enough."

In one sermon in October 2005, Rev. Wright addressed the racial elements at play in the wake of Hurricane Katrina.

"The winds of Katrina blew the cover off America. The hurricane exposed the hypocrisy," Rev. Wright said, "protecting white folks' property took priority over saving black folks' lives." He continued, "This storm called Katrina says far more about a racist government than it does about the wrath of God."

In April 2003, Rev. Wright told his congregation that "the United States government has failed the vast majority of our citizens of African descent."

"For every one Oprah, a billionaire, you've got five million blacks who are out of work," he said. "For every one Colin Powell, a millionaire, you've got 10 million blacks who cannot read. For every one Condoskeeza [sic] Rice, you've got one million in prison. For every one Tiger Woods, who needs to get beat, at the Masters, with his cap-blazing hips, playing on a course that discriminates against women. For every one Tiger Woods, we got 10,000 black kids who will never see a golf course."

Watch the video in the upper right side of the page for yourself.

The "skeez" term by which Wright referred to Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice means "slut" or promiscuous person.

Not only does he perpetuate the despicable race and class warfare myths that came out of the Katrina disaster (a situation brought on primarily by the incompetence of the black Democrat mayor of New Orleans Ray Nagin who didn't seriously try to evacuate the city), he obviously has no use for blacks who are successful.

I guess we'll find no Oreo cookies in Rev. Wright's cupboards!

I'm happy for any American who succeeds, regardless of skin color. I suppose when people of your ethnic group succeed, and your ethnic group has been historically downtrodden, there's some justification for a bit of extra pride.

But instead of celebrating the accomplishments of successful black Americans, Rev. Wright only finds more cause for envy, bitterness and hatred. (Or is it just those blacks who are conservative, and who don't play along with Wright's martyrdom scenario?)

And with still more examples of Wright's racism and hate still surfacing, the protests from Obama that "I didn't know" fall flatter and flatter each time.

In an interview with Hannity Rev. Wright asked several times if Shaun had read any writings by James Cone. Cone has been a leading advocate of “liberation theology," of which Wright subscribes. Cone is a professor at Union Theological Seminary, long a bastion of liberal thought and home to many anti-Christian theologians.

Here is a brief sample of the thoughts of James Cone:

“Black theology refuses to accept a God who is not identified totally with the goals of the black community. If God is not for us and against white people, then he is a murderer, and we had better kill him. The task of black theology is to kill Gods who do not belong to the black community ... Black theology will accept only the love of God which participates in the destruction of the white enemy. What we need is the divine love as expressed in Black Power, which is the power of black people to destroy their oppressors here and now by any means at their disposal. Unless God is participating in this holy activity, we must reject his love.”

We are admonished in Galatians 1:8,9, "But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed."

Prof. Cone and Jeremiah Wright clearly teach another gospel from what we are given in Mathew, Mark, Luke and John and it is hateful and racist. Whatever their theology is it cannot be called “Christian” and I am left to speculate as to the source of their belief system.

Does Obama know how far astray Wright has gone from what the Bible teaches us?

My brother-in-law is a successful black man, and will not play golf because of the discrimination against black men and also women. You cannot deny that is true.

As for Katrina, he is not far off. Regardless of why the people were there, it took three days for the national guard to even roll in. Being that I was in the Army, I know you're supposed to be ready to deploy anywhere in the world in 4 hours when on alert.

I really think you're remarks are childish and no better than the word-fumbling reverend.

The man is far from eloquent, but his points are not far from the mark.

I don't play golf, so I can't attest to what happens on the golf course. Tiger Woods obviously wasn't held back by discrimination.

I, too, was in the military for 10 years and know that a paper deployment requirement is a lot different than what is actually possible in the real world. Especially when there weren't supposed to be many if any people left in the path of the hurricane anyway.

Far easier to blame President Bush than those Democrats closer to the problem--and more responsible for it. Mississippi didn't seem to have a fraction of the problems they had in LA; maybe because they hadn't been corrupted by a liberal mindset that expects the federal government to do everything for them.

Any assertions that racism had anything to do with the New Orleans Katrina debacle are baseless. It had everything to do with government stupidity--most of it state and local.

Katrina is an example of President Bush trying to fight to save lives! Katrina was definitely not his fault! Talk to the mayor and governor that failed to comprehend and act in a timely and appropriate fashion!

It looked to me like state and local government dropped the ball horribly when faced with Katrina. I've read that Mayor Nagin refused to deploy school buses for evacuation because they weren't more comfortable commercial coaches. And then they re-elected him. Gov. Blanco accepted responsibility for calling federal troops too late. Then she stepped down. New Orleans re-elected Nagin, who later, in a speech recalling a conversation with the spirit of MLK said:

This city will be a majority African-American city. It's the way God wants it to be. You can't have New Orleans no other way; it wouldn't be New Orleans."

I only bring that up because it's the kind of quote, which like those from Wright, seem to flagrantly contradict the MLK dream, and not incidentally, the post-racial hopes Obama invited people to pin on him.
