A Miracle or Throw-Away Tissue?

I came across this ad in last Thursday's Rapid City Weekly News tonight, and was struck by an irony.

Dr. Buehner of Rapid City is a fine doctor. In fact, he's one of the best, most easy-to-work-with doctors I've ever encountered. He delivered both of my children...before I knew he supported abortion.

In the past couple of years, Dr. Buehner has been an outspoken opponent of abortion bans. In fact, Dr. Buehner would probably be considered a leader in the effort to block pro-life attempts to ban this barbaric practice. He is a founder and co-chair of the Orwellianly-named "South Dakota Campaign for Healthy Families," and has appeared on television in opposition to banning abortion. The Rapid City group Citizens for Life protests in front of his office regularly if not weekly.

So I was struck that he would publish an ad that called children a "miracle." Why would you terminate a miracle? Especially when 79.5% of these miracles were aborted in 2005 for the sole reason that the mother "did not desire to have the child."

Is the unborn child a "miracle" if you so choose, and an inconvenience to be eliminated if you feel that way? Amazing how the power of a single human opinion can change the status of another human being from "miracle" to a "procedure."

What does the ad for his abortion practice say?

He doesn't have an abortion practice--he simply opposes banning it.
