Concerned Women for America Asks Abortionists to Come
Clean:
Are You Assisting Child Rapists?
WASHINGTON -- Concerned Women for America (CWA) commends
Kansas Attorney General Phill Kline for his efforts to vigorously prosecute
illegal late-term abortions and child molestation in his state. Abortion
clinics in Kansas that are hiding relevant documents subpoenaed by the court
should rightly be seen for how they are acting – as accomplices.
A Kansas District Court judge found probable cause to
believe crimes have been committed and that evidence of the crimes is in the
files of abortion clinics. As a result, the judge ordered the clinics to
produce these records. They have refused and now the matter is before the
Kansas Supreme Court.
Courts frequently subpoena medical records to investigate
violent or financial crimes. Hospitals, doctors' offices and clinics
routinely respond. Patients' privacy is protected. Yet the Kansas abortion
clinics, particularly media-savvy Planned Parenthood, are refusing to hand
over documents. Despite their insincere invitation to "investigate us, not
our patients," they refuse to cooperate with efforts to provide justice for
women and girls.
Claiming they can't turn records over to the court under
the pretense of protecting patient privacy, the abortion clinics turn around
and give patients' names to campaign and fundraising operators.
Just days before the case was to be brought before the
Kansas Supreme Court, agents of the clinics under investigation, owned by
late-term abortionist George Tiller, were seen shredding hundred of
documents behind its facility.
Obtaining the medical records is vital to tracking down
child rapists as well as discovering whether clinics are illegally
committing abortions after the 22nd week of pregnancy.
Wendy Wright, CWA's Executive Vice President, concluded,
"For once we agree with Planned Parenthood: Attorney General Phill Kline
should investigate it and late-term abortionist George Tiller thoroughly.
Their actions – before and during this investigation – put them squarely on
the side of cooperating with suspected child rapists and not the law.
"We join parents in Kansas in gratitude for Attorney
General Kline's perseverance in going after any accomplice to child sexual
abusers, especially if they use their position to cover up a crime."
Concerned Women for America (CWA) is the nation's largest
public policy women's organization.
