The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) tows a strong line when it comes to mercury, issuing 946 pages of rules requiring the U.S. energy industry to sharply reduce already low emissions of mercury and 83 other pollutants. Interestingly, U.S. power plants account for less than 0.5 percent of all the mercury in the air Americans breathe. Those florescent lightbulbs that “greenies” love so much also contain the element the greenies want power plants to get rid of.
The nomination of John Bryson as Barack Obama’s new Secretary of Commerce has been touted in some circles as “the latest in a recent string of moves by the Obama administration to mend relations with the business community.” But is the selection of Bryson — who founded a radical environmental organization and helped spearhead the United Nations climate change movement — really a good choice for American businesses?

I received some very disappointing news yesterday. It has to do with New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, whom I’ve admired for some time. Though he is a straight-talking, no nonsense powerhouse for common sense and fiscal responsibility, apparently he supported a state-level cap and trade global warming tax, and believes in the hoax of anthropogenic global warming.
The powers-that-be, those who would cripple America’s economy, confiscate the wealth of the American people along with great amounts of their everyday freedom, would have us believe that “science” can predict what will happen with the earth’s planetary climate 100 years, 200 years, 500 years from now…yet we can’t even predict with any specificity what this year’s hurricane season will be like.
South Carolina is the latest state to fight back against the meddling nanny-state nonsense being foisted on the once-free American people by our Marxist government. They are considering the ncandescent Light Bulb Freedom Act, which would allow South Carolina manufacturers to continue to sell incandescent bulbs so long as they have “Made in South Carolina” on them and are sold only within the state.
Some of the faith of Tim Pawlenty presidential supporters has been shaken recently by the surfacing of a radio spot the former Governor did a few years ago along with current EPA Secretary Lisa Jackson urging Congressional passage of the controversial Cap-and-Trade Climate Change Bill, seen by most Conservatives as a disastrously expensive, business-threatening, job-killing piece of legislation that monstrously expands Government control over our lives.
South Dakota Attorney General Marty J. Jackley announces that he has joined 21 State Attorneys General requesting the EPA to defer its greenhouse gas regulations so that Congress may have an opportunity to evaluate the regulations. Other State Attorneys General joining in the EPA request include Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, Arizona, Georgia, Guam, Kansas, Louisiana, Michigan, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, South Dakota, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Wyoming and Florida.
The logic of climate change-driven policy continues to elude anyone with a rational mind who is actually concerned about the environment. If greenies truly wanted less global pollution, they would be pushing for eliminating corporate taxes on all items produced in the U.S. and encouraging the manufacture of goods in a place where dumping waste in the streams and the air is frowned upon, instead of places where it is accepted and ignored.
We’ve allowed demagogues preaching a false gospel of man-made global warming chanting songs of pollution hysteria while serving sacraments of social guilt to give our enemies a chokehold on our energy artery. The next time you pull into a gas station, as you pump your fuel look at the price. Remind yourself we have a Secretary of Energy who thinks the price should be at European levels and a President who has said energy prices will skyrocket under his programs. Now ask yourself, “If that’s their plan, what’s mine?”
Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) asks what might at first seem to be an odd question to ask of Kathleen Hogan, Deputy Assistant Secretary for Energy Efficiency, in a hearing on Appliance/Light Bulb Energy-Efficiency Legislation. He quickly determined that while the Left is pro-choice on the “choice” to kill your own unborn child, it is anti-choice on the basic, everyday, morally neutral choices and decisions Americans make about the things they buy and the things they do. “I find this antithetical to the American way,” said Rand.
The promises of “green energy” and “green jobs” never live up to the hype. Green jobs have been found to require up to five times the capital to produce one normal job. The cost of green energy is far above conventional energy sources and is usually propped up with taxpayer subsidies. Green jobs end up destroying other jobs in the normal economy. Isn’t it time we ended our infatuation with a dead-end idea based on an environmental hoax?
Here is some food for thought: The amount of grain needed to fill the tank of an SUV with ethanol just once can feed one person for an entire year. Another hard-hitting fact: The 107 million tons of grain that went to U.S. ethanol distilleries in 2009 was enough to feed 330 million people for one year at average world consumption levels, as stated in an article on Food Freedom’s website. Still think the federal government’s mandate of ethanol in vehicles is a good idea?
Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN), the head of the U.S. House Tea Party Caucus, gave a Tea Party response to President Obama’s State of the Union address last night. This was in addition to the Republican response given by Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI). Rep. Bachmann’s statement was focused more specifically on the main Tea Party concerns: limited government, return to a free market economy, property rights, repealing ObamaCare, and lower taxes.

A new study published in the journal Science found natural and cyclic climate change may have contributed to the fall of the Roman Empire. In addition to finding that a warmer climate helped the empire to thrive at one point, the study also inadvertently reveals a buried truth: climate change has been occurring long before modern industry ever arose–an “inconvenient” fact for anthropogenic global warming enthusiasts.
Once again Robot Theater helps us to understand how liberals can buy into the silly idea of anthropogenic global warming. It’s easy to see why the number of people who buy this bunk is falling–down to somewhere around 30% of Americans now. Of course, it’ll probably never get down to zero; some people simply lack the intelligence to employ analytical skills, especially when emotionalism is so much easier than dealing with facts.

Republicans are killing the global warming committee–probably the most useless, anti-American anti-freedom committee in the U.S. House. The article says Republicans thought about keeping it around to mock global warming enthusiasts, and that definitely would have been fun, but there is too much work to be done for such frivolities.
With the possibility of $5.00 a gallon gasoline looming, I’m reminded of Fred Flintstone. Remember his preferred method of transport? That’s right, stinky, calloused feet. A rousing, “YabadabaDOOO!” and away the Flintstone™ family flew. Maybe Fred was onto something. Was he “going green” or just going?
The EPA must be stopped. The Republican Congress must take swift action to cut the legs off of the EPA and reverse their maniacal power grab. We must never stop clamoring to our congressmen and senators, while we still can, and demanding a return to a constitutionally restrained government. The fate of our nation depends on it.

Piers Corbyn accurately predicted the cold and snow gripping the northeast and northern Europe while the AGW experts mocked him, insisting that the winter would be warmer than usual and dry.
The Astrophysicist/ Meteorologist correctly predicted that “December would be the coldest in a hundred years” with record snow falls. When asked how he could be so accurate he simply explained that the sun controls weather and climate and that “world temperatures drive CO2 levels, not the other way around.”
While campaigning for the GOP nomination for President in 2007, Mike Huckabee said that “[w]e have a responsibility to reduce greenhouse-gas emissions, to conserve energy, to find alternative forms of energy that are renewable and sustainable and environmentally friendly.” Huckabee continued by stating support to Bloomberg for an “economy-wide `cap-and-trade’ system to control greenhouse gases.” Fast forward to present-day 2010, and Huckabee is singing a different tune.
While most of America has already figured out that the whole anthropogenic global warming hysteria is nothing but a hoax, the Obama Administration continues to go full-tilt at ever-increasing speed to pay homage to this socialist scam. It isn’t just the EPA waging war on this nonexistent threat, but also the Department of Homeland Security and even the Justice Department.
