I received an email just a few minutes ago from South Dakota Rep. Stace Nelson with a letter sent by himself and three other legislators to Rep. Charles Turbiville, Chairman of the South Dakota Legislative Executive board. The letter concerns allegations that confidentiality may have been violated concerning legislative bill research when Republican members of South Dakota’s House leadership are said to have pressured members of the Legislative Research Council staff for the information.
There has been a nasty stench in the South Dakota Republican Party for several years now. If you don’t follow politics too closely, you may not have noticed it, and even if you do, the whiff comes and goes. But thankfully, there are a few who are actually within the party and serve in elected office who are willing to rock the boat, who won’t go along with what the establishment tells them to shut up and do, who are willing to swing wide the door on that stench and allow the public to get a good smell of that decay that’s been rotting for so long inside. Lately, thanks to Rep. Stace Nelson and a few others, that door is opening and the light of truth is beginning to shine in.
The Obama Administration’s Solyndra scandal that cost U.S. taxpayers $535 million is just the tip of the iceberg of the scandal enveloping Obama’s use of taxpayer dollars to help his top donors. Obama has nationalized the Chicago patronage system. The truth is that on a scale of one to 10, the Nixon scandals were about a three compared to Obama green payoff being a 10.
Last week I listed the first three reasons why I lean libertarian. First, centralized power in government corrupts. Less government power means less government corruption by special interests. Second, controlling another person’s life through force is inherently wrong. Third, government-supplied security is an illusion. By its nature, government cannot function in that role.
Today is Election Day across the nation, and although it is not a presidential election year, we must not underestimate the importance of going to the polls and voting. Not as many states have elections this year, but each state and each race is important. In some countries, people risk their lives to vote. Will you cast aside this precious liberty as if it didn’t matter?
We are witnessing the tyranny not of the majority but instead of the majority of voters coming to fruition. In America in a typical election, only 50% or less of eligible voters bothers to cast their ballot. Many congressional districts are gerrymandered into personal possessions, local counties, cities and states belong to good-old-boy networks and the Senate is the province of millionaire media stars. The uninformed elect the unqualified to give them what is unearned.
I like the title they gave this Solyndra video at Breitbart TV: “CRONY CAPITALISM: A CONCISE HISTORY OF OBAMA’S SOLYNDRA SCANDAL” So apt: crony capitalism. Not real capitalism. Not the free market. Crony capitalism, where it looks like capitalism to a point, but it’s really shuffling the taxpayer’s money to your friends so they can in turn shuffle some of it back your way, come election time.
What would the reaction of the media would have been if when Enron imploded it was revealed that the Bush Administration had guaranteed a half billion dollars in loans. What has the reaction of the media been now that we know the Obama Administration pushed a $535 taxpayer-backed loan against the advice of the OMB…and now that company is belly-up?
As we dive into the campaign season leading up to the long, long awaited 2012 election, we are seeing an increasingly desperate communist Left looking to keep Barack Obama in the White House. As we have already seen, there is no lie brazen enough that Obama and other members of the communist Democrat party are unwilling to tell it with a straight face. So, it is no surprise that we now have a website that looks like some kind of lying propaganda machine resurrected from the old Soviet Unionand updated with modern technology. Welcome to Attack Watch.

If History doesn’t help us to live in the present it is merely curiosity or voyeurism that compels us to gaze upon the past. Everyone knows and many people say, “Those who fail to learn from History are doomed to repeat it.” I believe that a historical context is necessary for any understanding of the present. I also believe that a lack of historical context is one of the major contributing factors to the current state of affairs in America. I do not, however, believe that historical events repeat.
President Barack Obama signed off on allowing homosexuals to serve openly in the U.S. military today, and barring a miracle the decision will take effect on our armed forces in 60 days. This further illustrates that elections have serious consequences, often very bad ones. A growing number of people are pointing out that the entire DADT repeal was handled in a dishonest fashion from the start, and even now there are pertinent documents that are being kept from the public. The American people have a right to full disclosure when their safety–which depends on military readiness and effectiveness–is being undermined.
Once again conservative filmmaker James O’Keefe has exposed the way our corrupt, neglegent, irresponsible, morally bankrupt government urinates away the hard-earned tax dollars of the American people–and does so with a chuckle and a smile. In this latest undercover video, you have a couple of Russian drug smugglers who are pimping out their underage female sisters and have a car worth nearly $1 million dollars when they go to a government agency to apply for taxpayer-funded Medicaid.
Who is paying the expenses for the Democrat legislators that have fled Wisconsin in order to thwart the will of the people and the Constitutional mandate for representation? Now in exile for seventeen days the fourteen Dems have surely incurred substantial expenses. Rumors abound about outside sources funneling money to Democrats to sustain their illegal and unethical activities. If true these politicians may be in violation of Wisconsin statutes which stipulate that receiving money in this way is a prohibited practice.

In Washington, the special interests don’t give away money for nothing. There are always strings attached, and there is always an expectation of a quid pro quo. Once a member of Congress finds himself indebted to the lobbyists and corporate interests that run Washington, it’s nigh impossible to maintain one’s independence. Let the American people take note: the wooing has begun.
Congress has passed a $4.6 billion payout to black farmers and Native Americans who were allegedly victimized the federal government. But as black farmer Jimmy Dismuke says, it may not take much, according to the government’s definition, to be a “farmer,” e.g. having a potted plant or fertilizing your yard. Are the taxpayers of America getting bilked for billions once again?
Earlier this year, the NY Times profiled the prodigious money raising prowess and dubious ethics of the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation. The Times editorialized, “Of all the money machines shaving ethical corners, few rival the Congressional Black Caucus … the caucus spends far more on gala entertainments and golf outings than on the scholarships that billboard its charity drives.”
People often call the United States a democracy, but it is not. Ours is a constitutional republic–a republic protected from tyranny by a written constitution. But when the people fail to hold abusers accountable, that constitution becomes meaningless and freedom dies. The American people may have one last chance to keep our constitutional republic. Will we take that chance?
