Census 2010: Do your duty, Citizens
“[An] Enumeration shall be made within three Years after the first Meeting of the Congress of the United States, and within every subsequent Term of ten Years, in such Manner as they shall by Law direct.”
Our representative republic depends upon an accurate count of citizens living in the United States. We have a responsibilty to provide the information needed, but there is no mention in the Constitution about the need for private information. Read more »
Chief Justice not welcome at Butler: Faculty Senate says ‘NO’ UPDATE 3/15
Butler University had the opportunity to welcome one of the most important figures of our times for what was certain to be a non-partisan commencement speech: Chief Justice John Roberts. However, the Faculty Senate, via secret ballot, shot down this opportunity. These self-appointed guardians of diversity and tolerance are terrified of a genuine open and free exchange of ideas. Open wide: Dems plan to ram it down whole
The Slaughter Rule would allow House members to avoid going on the record as having voted for health care reform, complete with language that allows government payment for elective abortions. This is an under-handed, disingenuous attempt to shove this monstrosity down the throats of Americans who have made it very clear that they want none of this overt socialist take-over of one-sixth of our economy.
The swamp has become deeper, darker and more fetid under Madam Pelosi and this is yet another devouring, unholy beast arising from the slime and muck of Washington. Read more »
Contact your Representatives today–here is an easy and effective way
Speaker Pelosi is tallying the votes by the minute and could call for a vote anytime (when she thinks she has the number needed). We MUST let our Congressmen and women know what we think about the health care reform bill now before them. Make no mistake, there will be no amendments or “reconciliation.” If the House votes the Senate bill in, it will go directly to the White House and will be the law of the land within hours. This must be stopped. Nothing less than the future of our country is at stake. Read more »
Obama and NOAA may soon abolish recreational fishing
It seems there is no limit to the hubris of Obama and his administration. Not content to attempt to take over banks, the auto industry, health care, education, the food industry and virtually every aspect of our economy, while putting nearly 1 in 5 Americans out of work, now we learn that recreational fishing will soon be severely limited by EXECUTIVE ORDER. Governor Daniels on Health Savings Accounts: a model for real reform
It turns out that, when someone is spending his own money alone for routine expenses, he is far more likely to ask the questions he would ask if purchasing any other good or service: “Is there a generic version of that drug?” “Didn’t I take that same test just recently?” “Where can I get the colonoscopy at the best price?” By contrast, the prevalent model of health plans in this country in effect signals individuals they can buy health care on someone else’s credit card. MSNBC meltdown: Tea Party racists, anti-semite murderers
From Tea Party Express:
In an interview with the Tea Party Express’s Mark Williams, MSNBC’s Dylan Ratigan yelled, screamed, walked off his own set, and alleged that tea partiers carry signs calling for the death of blacks and Jews. And as the veins were bursting in his head he then demanded that Mark Williams’ microphone be cut off so he could be heard. Read more »
Al Gore emerges to defend ‘climate change’
With all the news in the past year showing the issue of global warming (or “climate change” if you insist) to be a fraud you’d have thought James Hansen and Al Gore could have come up with a better defense of their positions, but you’ll not find much new in either of their retorts. It’s the same old smoke and mirrors and out-right deception we have come to expect from these gurus of self-promotion. It would seem they’ve given us their best shot and it is found wanting. Horowitz on “The Great Awakening”
Former Sixties radical David Horowitz (http://frontpagemag.com/) is taped at the Restoration Weekend last November discussing the New Left and especially the connection between Socialist/Communist ideology and the “green movement,” connecting the red dots Soros, Van Jones, Obama, the SEIU and A.C.O.R.N. in the process. Horowitz quotes from the “New Left Notes” newsletter that “The [...] Read more »
Crow Indian Tea Party holds first rally
Karmelita Plains Bull Martin organized the first Tea Party protest by Crow tribal members in Hardin, MT on Monday. Attending was Crow Teaparty leader Adrian Bird, Sr. who said “the tribe would be better off if it developed the natural resources on the reservation, lived by tribal laws and declined federal government assistance.” The story was reported at the online site of the Helena Independent Record yesterday and reinforces my belief that the Tea Party Movement is growing daily and encompassing ever broader and more diverse Americans. What they have in common is a love of liberty and a belief in the Constitutional principles upon which this great nation was founded. Read more »
Birth of the Tea Party Movement
Keli (”Liberty Belle”) Carender became one of the founding mothers of the Tea Party Movement when she organized the Seattle protest against the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, a.k.a. Porkulus. In a letter sent to Michelle Malkin she reminds us of what the first “tea party” was about back in 1773 and how Americans are suffering similar oppression under present day tyrants. Patriots today have told the political elites that we have had enough and that we demand that the government be yoked and constrained according to the limits laid out in our Constitution. The desire for liberty still burns hot in the hearts of most Americans, and therein lies our hope for a renewal of the founding principles. Read more »
Professor just can’t connect with students
“Look, I would have loved nothing better than to simply come up with some very elegant, you know, academically approved approach to health care [that] didn’t have any kinds of legislative fingerprints on it, and just go ahead and have that passed. But that’s not how it works in our democracy. Unfortunately what we end up having to do is to do a lot of negotiations with a lot of different people.”–Pres. Obama in an interview with Katie Couric prior to the Super Bowl. Read more »
American spirit an enigma to Viscount
British aristocrat asks “Why do Americans vote against their own self interest?” He is referring to Obamacare and other social programs that Americans have rejected wholesale. He is especially puzzled by those in the lower socio-economic strata who seem to not be interested in punishing the wealthy and enriching themselves with the plunder. Perhaps the Viscount doesn’t understand some basic principles of the American experience. Read more »
Coakley Choice of Big Pharma
The race for the Massachusetts U.S. Senate seat vacated by the late Ted Kennedy between Martha Coakley and Scott Brown is shaping up to be a referendum on Obamacare. Big Pharma and Big Insurance have decided to ignore their clients and throw-in with Big Government on this nation-changing issue. What kind of promises have they gotten from Obama/Pelosi/Reid to take what would seem to be such a huge risk? And how much will they cost us? Read more »
Time for ‘Israelification’ of airport security
Our security system is flawed and doomed to fail as it did so recently on a flight arriving in Detroit. I once heard Binyamin Netanyahu explain to a radio host that El Al, the national Israeli airline, does not screen packages, bags or clothing–they screen people. And, as a result have had no catastrophic security failures in the airline’s history. Let’s take some lessons from the proven experts. Read more »
New release from Lloyd “Tea Party” Marcus: “2010″
A new release from lloyd Marcus of Tea Party fame will encourage and lift the spirits of Patriots everywhere. It puts new lyrics to a favorite tune and is performed flawlessly with full professional orchestration. It also makes me eager for the next Tea Party Express, coming this spring where I hope to meet up with many friends, both old and new. Read more »
Tecumseh and stem cells
A story of scalping and how some Indians learned to treat survivors has proven to be centuries ahead of scientists and discussions about new medical therapies. Perhaps we should heed the words of Ecclesiastes 1:9:
That which has been is what will be,
That which is done is what will be done,
And there is nothing new under the sun. Read more »
The Cambrian Explosion an enigma for Darwinists
The Cambrian explosion has been called the most spectacular event in the history of life, for in a moment of geological time complex animals first appeared on earth fully formed, without evidence of any evolutionary ancestors. Charles Darwin viewed this as an inexplicable mystery. Early in the Cambrian period compound eyes, articulated limbs, sophisticated sensory organs and skeletons burst into existence seemingly out of nowhere, without evidence of the gradualism upon which evolutionary theory depends. The Manhattan Declaration, an historic document
We are Orthodox, Catholic, and evangelical Christians who have united at this hour to reaffirm fundamental truths about justice and the common good, and to call upon our fellow citizens, believers and non-believers alike, to join us in defending them. These truths are:
1.the sanctity of human life
2.the dignity of marriage as the conjugal union of husband and wife
3.the rights of conscience and religious liberty. Read more »
Like racism, hate crimes usually apply to only one side
For months white and hispanic males were being systematically assaulted by black gang members and, apparently, race was the main factor in the attacks. A few were robbed, but in most cases victims were simply beaten while attackers screamed racial slurs and epithets. Does anyone suppose that there would be any doubt about the motivations for the attacks were the roles reversed? Read more »
