If you’ve never heard Medved’s Thanksgiving story, then you are about to have all your assumptions about our Thanksgiving holiday challenged. Particularly, Medved talks about the economic model the pilgrims tried when they first came to New England. Medved tells when the pilgrims arrived, they instituted a socialist collective where everyone would work together and everyone would get a share of the crops. It turned out to be the same kind of debacle socialism always turns out to be.
This proclamation by America’s second president, John Adams, was actually for a day of fasting and humiliation, but it did contain a call for thanksgiving as well. It was issued in 1798: As the safety and prosperity of nations ultimately and essentially depend on the protection and the blessing of Almighty God, and the national acknowledgment of this truth is not only an indispensable duty which the people owe to Him…
This Thanksgiving proclamation was issued by Virginia Governor Thomas Jefferson in 1779: Whereas the Honourable the General Congress, impressed with a grateful sense of the goodness of Almighty God, in blessing the greater part of this extensive continent with plentiful harvests, crowning our arms with repeated successes, conducting us hitherto safely through the perils…
This is the first national Thanksgiving proclamation of the United States, issued by Congress on Nov. 1, 1777: Forasmuch as it is the indispensable duty of all men to adore the superintending providence of Almighty God; to acknowledge with gratitude their obligation to him for benefits received, and to implore such farther blessings as they stand in need of; and it having pleased him in his abundant mercy…
This is extremely disappointing. Why does Senator John (R-SD) continually support RINOs? He supported RINO John McCain in 2008, which guaranteed a loss to the Democrats, and now he’s endorsed Mitt “RomneyCare” Romney, which would guarantee another Democrat victory in 2012. As George Will said recently, with all the Right has going for it right now politically, why in the world would we settle for this?
This is a lengthy but very interesting TV investigative report on how Islamists in the UK are taking over the culture and government there. It was prepared by Dispatches on Britain’s Channel 4. We see how Muslim activists in England are taking over local governments, and are ultimately working to establish Shariah law and an Islamic state in England. Could America be next?
This is just rich–excuse the pun. You’ve probably heard of some of the wealthy Americans like Warren Buffett, Barack Obama and others who have their zeal on to spend other people’s money, claiming taxes aren’t high enough on America’s most successful citizens.Watch what happens when some of these hypocrites are given a chance to donate to the US Treasury of their own free will.
I was unable to get the video of the CNN national security debate last night edited and uploaded, but thanks to the good folks at the Media Research Center, we have it here. As the “social issues” debate over the weekend was perhaps the most important debate of this election season, so national defense is right up there. If we’re taken over or destroyed by an enemy, our freedom, constitution and everything else we hold dear are worthless.
You hear this one sometimes from socialists: the job of the judiciary is to protect the minority from the majority. No it isn’t. Lawbreakers are in the minority; is it the job of the judiciary to protect the minority of lawbreakers from the majority of law-abiding citizens? No, it is the job of the judiciary to uphold the law–which, in this case, involves protecting the majority from the lawbreaking of the minority.
While a broad cross section of Americans continue to favor a balanced budget amendment (BBA), some believe the idea is too closely identified with the Republican Party, and is unlikely to pass anytime soon. But there may be another way to get spending under control. Unlike the BBA, the National Debt Relief Amendment (NRDA) does not have a “get of jail free card,” that the political class can use to sidestep anti-spending restraints.
In the ongoing examination of judicial myths Rick Green of Wallbuilders Live, Rick looks at the myth that only judges are capable of interpreting the U.S. Constitution. Have you ever heard a liberal say about a controversial (and probably unconstitutional) piece of legislation: “Well, when the Supreme Court rules on it, then we’ll know if it’s constitutional or not.” Bull!
South Dakota Secretary of State Jason Gant was in Rapid City today to unveil the state’s new Campaign Finance website. The presentation was given to a number of local elected officials and members of the public at the Journey Museum theater. A test version of the website is available online, and the live site will go online soon for elected officials and then the public. The website will help everyone keep track of campaign finances for the busy 2012 election season.
Secretary of State Jason Gant noted today that the public should be aware that South Dakota Law places certain restrictions on trademarks, and those seeking to trademark their name for exclusive use need not apply. Gant clarified that personal names and geographical place names are not eligible to trademark. Recently, some have tried to trademark “Sturgis” and “Black Hills,” and a state prison inmate sued actor Mike Rowe because they share the same name.
Planned Parenthood’s website offers a self-endorsement and subtle tribute to racist and eugenicist Margaret Sanger who sought to rid the world of undesirable minorities. The time is long overdue for Planned Parenthood to be denounced as an agent of death and despair and its abortion activities declared illegal.
In a previous article I pointed out that the American people have, to the detriment of our freedom, bought into the lie that the judiciary is a “co-equal branch” of our government, when the founder’s statements and the Constitution itself make it clear that it was to be the weakest of the three branches. Another is that judges have a lifetime appointment, and there’s nothing that can be done about it. But we can do something about it. We can insist that judges who trample our freedom and show contempt for the U.S. Constitution be impeached and removed from office. It’s time we exercised that option.
It’s no secret that the courts have been running roughshod over our freedoms for decades. They’ve been encouraged to do so. And through our ignorance, we the people have allowed the courts to trample our liberties. We have allowed the Supreme Court to become a virtual oligarchy that forces its 9-pronged will on the executive branch, the legislative branch, and on the American people. Isn’t it time we learned the truth, dispelled the myths, and took our freedom back?
As we, once again, approach this national day of “thanksgiving” I thought it necessary to reflect upon our nation’s long history of acknowledging and giving thanks to Almighty God. On October 3, 1789 George Washington issued the nation’s first presidential proclamation in which he called the nation to set aside a day for giving thanks to that “great and glorious Being who is the beneficent author of all the good that was, that is, or that will be….”
If the Marxists in the Occupy Wall Street movement can behave for 12 hours or so, maybe we can do one update for all of today of their childish, anti-American, fascist, disgusting behavior. Let’s give it a try. We’ll learn about the HAZMAT team called in to haul away 200 pounds of human feces neare one Occupest haven, as well as watch Marxist swarm private businesses and attempt to disrupt their lawful operations. Finally, we’ll see Occupests letting it all hang out in New York.
While necessity is the mother of invention, sloth and envy beget mediocrity and upheaval – the twin siblings of secular-socialism. It is in this vein that a rebellious and increasingly violent spirit of incoherent anarchy continues to fester in urban centers across the nation. This is most evident in the form of the envy-driven “Occupy wherever” nonsense embraced by the “progressive” establishment.
My original attraction to libertarian ideals started in political theory and theology rather than in politics. This is not surprising because I did both part of my undergraduate work and three years of my postgraduate work in philosophy and biblical studies. Jefferson’s Declaration of Independence contains a very clear example of the mixture of Libertarian ideals with religious philosophy.
Symbiosis is the living together in more or less intimate association or close union of two dissimilar organisms as in parasitism. What we are witnessing today is symbiosis on steroids wherein the parasite isn’t merely along for the ride but instead demands the driver’s seat. America has taken such a bizarre turn that oxymorons are the only things that make sense any more.
Millions of Muslims are seeking to immigrate to America. Islam is a civilization that has never accepted Christianity equally, and many seek Shariah Law that would expunge Christianity entirely. With this in mind, don’t you think we should solve the problem of their assimilation into our culture and language before we bring in millions more into this country? Or to put it another way, is it wise to bring in millions more into our country at such a time?
