The New York Times, solidifying its position as the fish-wrap of record, sees fit on this tenth anniversary of the attack on America in which thousands of Americans died, and are still dying, to publish ruminations on this anniversary from Paul Krugman’s fevered mind. He concludes that 9-11 is a “shameful” episode in American history. I’ll let him tell you why.

The Black Hills Veteran’s Writing Group sponsored a 911 Tenth Anniversary Remembrance event yesterday at the Western Dakota Technical Institute. One of the featured speakers was Brigadier General Scott Vander Hamm who is the former commander of the 28th Bomb Wing at Ellsworth AFB South Dakota and current commander of the B-2 509th Bomb Wing at Whiteman AFB, Missouri. Vander Hamm has flown B-1 and B-2 missions into Afghanistan and Iraq in the post-911 war on terrorism. In this video, a reporter asks a Tea Party member about a disagreement his group is having with other locals. The Tea Party person calls his political opponents obscene names, then tells the reporter to leave the area (again using obscene language) and man-handles the cameraman. The Tea Party person also threatens further violence and damage to private property. We don’t normally post material of this graphic nature, but it is important that people see the behavior of these Tea Party people so they can denounce it accordingly.

If your bank made you wait longer to withdraw your savings, or cut your interest rate, would you put up with that? If not, why would you tolerate it from your government? If Americans prefer getting negative returns on what they pay in order to save an unworkable government system, we deserve the mediocre, second rate nation we are becoming. But I don’t think most want this. It’s why we need politicians with the courage to tell the truth and citizens with the courage to be free.

With President Obama having now fostered the national expectation for congress to do something about the economy, Republicans in the House should not miss this opportunity to lead.Leadership is not following the herd as you monitor their direction, then running out in front of them for a moment to tell them this is the way to go. Leadership is providing direction and motivation to do sometimes difficult but necessary things. Republicans have a unique and golden opportunity to demonstrate leadership, and they should not let it pass unused.

When you exchange wedding vows with your spouse, you probably have serious commitments to stand by each other in mind, in sickness and in health. But when the state intervenes, sometimes you don’t get what you expect. Everyone, but especially those who love their spouses, family and friends, needs to take Sara & Gary Harvey’s plight quite seriously. Don’t think it couldn’t happen to you. Think instead… how will you feel when it does?

As Obama prepares to unveil his latest plan to create jobs, one thing you probably won’t hear from him Thursday night is how he plans to get rid of environmental regulations that impede construction projects. Bureaucratic red-tape put in place by environmental zealots holds back job creation. In today’s America, the new slogan seems to be, “if you build it, they will sue.”

It is hard to believe it has already been ten years since two jetliners were flown into the twin towers of the World Trade Center. As it became painfully clear that we had been attacked by our Islamist mortal enemies, the American people came together in a rare unity unseen in many, many decades. Do you remember the signs and the bumper stickers that appeared all over the country? We said we’d never forget…but have we?

Other than Pravda’s, er, MSNBC’s attempt to make the debate what Drudge called the “Rick and Mitt Show” and minimize the more conservative candidates, the most interesting soundbite I’ve heard so far has come from Newt Gingrich. He did not pull any punches in denouncing ObamaCare for the “disaster” it is. He also showed a fire and boldness that most of the other candidates need to learn from.

After watching “Tea Party Zombies Must Die” and reading about the long list of hypocrisy of the “tolerant” Left, you probably weren’t quite convinced of the violence and vitriol from liberals, were you? Okay, so the Media Research Center put together a video of some comments from peace-loving tolerant liberals on Twitter.

You really have to love that “new tone” the Left considers so important, don’t you? You know the one I’m talking about, right? The one that came in the wake of the shooting of Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords (D-AZ) by the flag-burning, pot-smoking “Tea Party conservative” were blamed for dangerous talk and incivility? The Left has given us so many living examples of this “new tone” since then. The latest manifestation is their “Tea Party Zombies Must Die” where peace-loving Leftists can go around the game shooting and slashing conservatives who threaten their socialist agenda.

One of the rare night blasts was held at Crazy Horse Memorial in the Black Hills of South Dakota last night. This monument to Native American culture and heritage near Custer, South Dakota was lit up with a laser show, followed by sequential blasts that worked their way up the mountain like the sound of a beating drum. It was an exceptional sight to behold.

It’s nice to know that the U.S. military is still following orders. At an appearance by President Barack Obama at the Washington Navy Yard on Aug. 5, the gathered military personnel did not applaud or cheer the entrance of the Commander in Chief until ordered to do so by a commanding officer. It is unclear whether the gathered personnel were waiting for a teleprompter to tell them to applaud and cheer.

Zero. It hasn’t happened in the lifetimes of anyone who isn’t eligible for social security. Zero net jobs were created in the month of August for the first time since 1945. It is almost mind boggling to think about what may turn out to be this President’s singular accomplishment — ending a 792 month job creation winning streak for the American economy. Historians will be looking to determine just how the Obama Administration reached this milestone.

There has been great gnashing of teeth in “progressive” circles of late over “Christian Dominionist Theology.” MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow has warned that much of the Republican presidential field embraces this startling, seditious sect of extreme fundamentalism. She’s breathlessly warned that Christian Dominionists “believe they have a direct line to God” and intend to “clear the way for the [end of the world]…by infiltrating and taking over government.” The thing is, they’re right. It’s true–all of it.

If you look at Social Security as a system of taxation and redistribution, it takes from a single minority male worker and gives to married white women who never contributed. And if you look at Social Security as a forced retirement savings program, it produces such a terrible return we might as well invest in gold. Neither perspective is worth continuing. Social Security as we know it needs to be abolished.

There are $527 million worth of exemptions in South Dakota’s tax code. A legislative committee was assigned the task of finding those exemptions that could be put back on the books since the state is so short-handed for funds. Unfortunately, the body only could come up with $332,000 worth of exemptions out of that $527 million to be put back on the books for collection. This package will be recommended to the full Legislature come January.

Alphonzo Rachel has fun pointing out the lies, duplicity and hypocrisy of the Congressional Black Caucus (minus Rep. Allen West). These race-baiters are good at castigating any expression of Christian values in the public square…but they don’t bat an eye at going to a church to beat the drums of race war and class envy. They also don’t have any problem embracing the party that persecuted black Americans and held them down for so long…as long as that party will give them some cheap trinkets every now and then.

Sometimes you hear a grain of truth–even a remarkable grain of truth–from the most unlikely sources. Of course, those unlikely sources seldom intend to speak the real truth that they speak. Like when Paul Krugman said on This Week: “If Obama called for endorsing motherhood, Republicans in the House would oppose it.” You know, he’s probably right…but not correct for the reasons he thinks.

As Americans, we enter the church with nearly overpowering individualistic inclinations. We come with and cling to expectations and demands that are centered on ourselves. We want people to talk to us but we are unwilling to talk to strangers. We have a myriad of personal preferences that we impose on the church about worship styles, music, and the like. We grade the pastor on whether or not he has met our needs through his sermon. And we certainly aren’t interested in anyone getting in our business! We don’t humbly submit to one another. We argue and divide over inconsequential issues.
