Rep. West Addresses Fiscal Negotiations

Rep. Allen West (R-FL)

Rep. Allen West (R-FL) was interviewed yesterday concerning the ongoing budget and deficit negotiations between Democrats and Republicans, and the fear-mongering being done (as usual) by Democrats to protect their welfare state.

West called President Obama’s claims of Social Security checks not being delivered “leadership by intimidation and scare tactics.”

He’s absolutely right.  That’s really all these socialist Democrats have in their arsenal.  They know unprecedented numbers of Americans are waking up to (a) the dangers of socialism, (b) the unsustainability of socialism, (c) the magnitude of our debt, and (d) the unsustainability of our out-of-control spending.  No rational argument can be made against major cuts in government, so they resort to fear mongering in the hopes of preserving the welfare state.

The Democrats have used the welfare state as fiscal cocaine and have pushed enough of it our way to make huge numbers of Americans addicted to it.  If patriotic Americans ever manage to end the welfare state and put this nation back on a footing of freedom, Democrats know that there will be nothing left within their morally bankrupt party that will appeal to voters.

How did Repair_Man_Jack at RedState put it yesterday?

Stand the Democrats down on entitlements just once, and they are a bunch of busted criminals in search of a new raison d’être.

Well said.

Oh, and Senator McConnell? Your asinine plan to capitulate responsibility to President Obama isn’t going to cut it. Pull some garbage like that–or any other sellout compromise–and it’ll be the GOP that’s looking for a new raison d’être.

Fortunately Andrew Stiles at the National Review reports Rep Jim Jordan (R-OH), chairman of the conservative Republican Study Committee says McConnell’s plan isn’t going to cut it with Senate conservatives.

You have to watch these guys, every minute!  Thank God we have people like Rep. West in congress!

  1. Subject: Obama’s UtopiaBarack Obama’s hand-picked regime has 11 steps in bringing a total fascist, police state to the United States:
“Everything Obama does comes straight from the most stilted and destructive clichés of the left. The man has never had an original idea in his life, and wouldn’t recognize one if it were served up on a plate with arugula. He is intellectually locked in concrete.”

  2. Obama is a liar and a thief, and you better believe the Republicans are going to call his bluff. If they don’t, then they are in as much trouble in 2012 as he is. The fear-mongering by the Democrats is juvenile, shameless, and despicable. The more shrill they become the more obvious it is how desperate they are; they can see the handwriting on the wall. So what if we don’t increase the debt ceiling? That just means that we have to cut trillions in frivolous spending that is unconstitutional to begin with. If Obama wants to go all in that’s his business, but he’s playing our game now.
