The group Focus St. Louis and the Clayton Chamber of Commerce of Missouri rescinded an invitation to speak to Dan Cathy, president of Chick-fil-A, on the demand of a pro-homosexual group. The Chamber of Commerce quickly demonstrated its “pro-diversity culture” and policy that they “certainly don’t want to offend anyone” by revoking an invitation for a successful Christian business leader to speak, thus offending Christians and Christian business owners all over America.

Conservative filmmaker James O’Keefe and his Project Veritas group have released another bombshell video on NPR. Executives with National Public Radio (a taxpayer-funded entity) were recently caught on film slamming conservatives and singing the praises of liberals to some undercover people pretending to be interested in making large donations to NPR. Now they are on video offering to help a group which ostensibly has terrorist ties to hide millions of dollars in donations from a government audit.

It continues to get uglier and uglier in Wisconsin as the GOP there tries to restore fiscal sanity in a situation gone wild for too many years. After weeks of socialist protests at the Wisconsin capitol in Madison against Governor Scott Walker’s efforts to rein in out-of-control spending and union appeasement, some have taken to making very detailed threats of shooting and bombing against Republican lawmakers.

There are plenty of good cartoons out there, but this one captures an important (and sad) truth in such a picturesque way that the average American cannot fail to appreciate it accuracy. May God forgive us and help us out of this mess of our own making.

President Barack Obama recently announced he would no longer do his job to uphold the laws of our nation and would not defend the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) from legal challenges by homosexual activists. Yesterday, Speaker of the House John Boehner (R-OH) announced that the U.S. House of Representatives will ensure that the law is defended and is already working on strategy for doing so.

South Dakota Gov. Dennis Daugaard has vetoed HB 1192, a bill to increase vehicle registration fees. Daugaard said that he opposes raising taxes at a time when our economy is still struggling to come out of a recession.

Our state leaders are really stepping up to the plate under the realization that those in the federal government cannot be relied upon to follow or uphold the United States Constitution, so the state leaders are taking action to do so themselves. We’re seeing flurries of legislation at the state level that seek to uphold our country’s immigration laws. We’re also seeing states challenge the unconstitutional federal health care deform law, anti-Shariah legislation to prevent the spread of unconstitutional Islamic Shariah law in America, and even legislation that would force potential presidential candidates to prove their constitutional eligibility to hold the office of president of the United States before being allowed on the ballot.

Members of the South Dakota Tea Party Alliance have been busy lately because, as the saying goes, your wallet isn’t safe as long as the legislature is in session. But the session will soon be over, and you can expect an update on legislative activity at the next South Dakota Tea Party Alliance meeting on Saturday March 12 in Rapid City. Alderman and 2011 mayoral candidate Sam Kooiker will be one of the special guest speakers at the meeting, and information will be released on some exciting upcoming events.

Former Assistant Secretary of Defense Frank Gaffney will be in Sioux Falls on March 29th to lead a national security panel discussion after a screening of the documentary Iranium. Gaffney, currently President of the Center for Security Policy, will also hold a book signing and be available for interviews with the media. The documentary Iranium powerfully reports on the many aspects of the threat Iran poses to America and the rest of the world.

The Heritage Foundation’s blog The Foundry points out some of the absurd wastes of money going on in Wisconsin as a result of unionism and collective bargaining, as well as the socialist entitlement mindset behind them both. You won’t believe some of these examples–but you need to, because examples like it are probably going on somewhere that affect your wallet.

Ideas and principles seldom come into being spontaneously with no previous or external influence. The same is true of the principles that birthed the United States and founded our government. Where did these principles come from? Did they come from the same origin as the French Revolution? The Bolshevik Revolution? No, they came from several sources, but mostly they came from the Bible.

Worried that ending taxpayer funding for National Public Radio (NPR) and Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) will result in Sesame Streets’ demise? NPR’s senior vice president for development is not. “Well frankly, it is very clear that we would be better off in the long run without federal funding,” said Ron Schiller. It’s time for public broadcasting to spread it’s wings and fly without taxpayer support.

Recently, independent filmmaker James O’Keefe and some friends did some undercover journalism on NPR. They met at Café Milano in Georgetown with NPR senior exec Ron Schiller and Betsy Liley, NPR’s director of institutional giving. The undercover filmmakers portrayed themselves as Ibrahim Kasaam and Amir Malik from the fictitious Muslim Education Action Center (MEAC) Trust and said they were thinking of giving a large donation to NPR. They caught these objective, taxpayer-funded NPR folks making some rather partisan statements disparaging of conservatives, Republicans and Tea Party patriots.

I have misunderstood a critical component of the case filed by Albert Snyder against the hateful Fred Phelps funeral protesters, and I have Robert Knight’s column today to thank for straightening me out. As hateful and misrepresentative of Christianity as the Phelps gang is, they have a right to freedom of speech, even as mourners have a right to some peace and privacy. The recent ruling in Snyder v. Phelps shows respect for both.

Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. (D-IL) said on the floor of the United States House of Representatives that we are missing from our Constitution what we need to solve unemployment. Jackson says this provision should be in the Constitution, and someday (presumably with his help), it will be enshrined there, and it would give everyone a right to: a “decent” home, free medical care, a “decent’ education, and a laptop and iPod. This is the “taker” mindset on display.

We always read about “radical Islam” as if there is a distinction between it and “regular” Islam. But how is Islam not radical? How is Islamic Shariah law not radical? Even a cursory study of Islamic Shariah law reveals a brutal, oppressive and ignorant ideology that is completely at odds with western civilization. There can be no doubt that Islam is radical, period. Of course, not every Muslim straps on a bomb or cuts off people’s heads, but there seems to be a dearth of supposedly moderate Muslims who are loudly denouncing such atrocious, barbaric behavior.

If you had any doubts that pop culture has completely declared war on Christianity in America, this should remove the last vestiges. Fox News and other media outlets are reporting ABC plans a series called “Good Christian Bitches” based on Kim Gatlin’s novel of the same name. Can you imagine a TV show from ABC or any other network called, “Good Muslim Bitches” or “Good Buddhist Bitches” or even “Good Atheist Bitches?”

Not that long ago, societal acceptance of homosexuality was unimaginable. Some say societal acceptance of pedophilia is unimaginable, but pedophilia as a “sexual orientation” is already being argued in opposition to mandatory sentencing in Canada, and mainstream medical publications in the United States have been open to the idea for some time. Will good people start to hold the line on society’s decay…before it’s too late for society’s children?

Remember the socialist protesters in Wisconsin who were getting fake doctor’s excuses (from doctors who knew better) claiming they were sick while they were out protesting against financial responsibility? Apparently some union workers in New Jersey ditched work to support the socialists in Wisconsin and claimed a fake illness. Now three of them have been suspended for their fraudulent behavior.

ObamaCare is so yummie good-good for America, the list of companies and groups that have asked for and been granted a waiver has climbed to more than 1,000–before the thing even really kicks in! More than a few are unions. But if you’re a small business without the connections to wrangle one of these waivers, then that’s just you’re tough luck.

At a time when our country has a $1.5 TRILLION deficit, we should be cutting everything possible in sight, right? So why do we have a $770 million program to fix up mosques overseas? Let’s break this down a bit. Why do we have a $770 million program to fix up mosques? Can you imagine a $770 million program to fix up Christian churches (or even a $7.70 program)? Why are we spending $770 million in money we don’t have to fix up mosques in other countries around the world?

We can’t spend our way to prosperity. We can’t borrow our way to solvency, and we shouldn’t condemn our descendants to a life of limited opportunity crushed under the debt for the entitlements we wanted but couldn’t afford. Thomas Jefferson made it clear that the practice of robbing our children and grandchildren because we cannot quit spending is not a valid way to manage our affairs.

This is the last full week for the 86th legislative session in Pierre. Will it be a good one? Will our legislators accomplish what they had hoped for, especially in regard to the budget for state government? Some South Dakotans argue little has been accomplished this session, but will we really know until they return March 28 to Pierre after their two-week break. Today we mull over some of the actions that have taken place since January 11 when the session started.

Most Americans fail to plan adequately for retirement and consequently miss out on opportunities to enjoy the last third of life. The best and most rewarding financial planning is not just about the numbers but rather takes place in the context of personal goals. Retirement used to mean not only a complete withdrawal from the workforce but often a retreat from life. Even the word “retire” has the connotations of shuffling quietly off to bed.

Who is paying the expenses for the Democrat legislators that have fled Wisconsin in order to thwart the will of the people and the Constitutional mandate for representation? Now in exile for seventeen days the fourteen Dems have surely incurred substantial expenses. Rumors abound about outside sources funneling money to Democrats to sustain their illegal and unethical activities. If true these politicians may be in violation of Wisconsin statutes which stipulate that receiving money in this way is a prohibited practice.
