KOTA contacted the South Dakota Tea Party Alliance yesterday for an interview regarding the South Dakota budget. The legislative session is pretty much over at this point, and the legislature managed to balance the budget with only one or two taxes (that they call “fee” increases), and a lot of cuts in most areas of state government. Zach Lautenschlager is the treasurer and lobbyist for the South Dakota Tea Party Alliance, and was interviewed on behalf of the organization.
As usual when it comes to liberals, I am once again left wondering: “Are they intentionally trying to deceive people, or can someone really be that stupid?” I’m talking about the Leftist brain trust at Think Progress and how they managed to interpret a story GOP presidential candidate Herman Cain told about growing up under segregation to mean that Cain didn’t take the injustice of segregation seriously, that he is “tone deaf to bigotry.”
Today brought good news and bad news on the 2012 presidential front. Many had hoped Senator Jim DeMint (R-SC) would run, but today he made it clear that he definitely will not. However, conservative stalwart Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN) moved a little closer today to saying outright that she will run for president. With conservative Herman Cain already in the race, another conservative in the race could really make things interesting.
While a host of unanswered (and perhaps unanswerable) questions remain about forcing acceptance of this corrosive behavior on the military, the U.S. military is moving forward as required by law with indoctrinating our troops to accept homosexual behavior in the ranks as moral and legitimate. As their training material reveals, the leadership naively believes diametrically opposed values can coexist harmoniously in the military. However, it will soon become clear that only one set of values can win out, and a morally bankrupt lame-duck congress has made it clear which one will win.
Irony is defined as “the use of words to convey a meaning that is the opposite of its literal meaning.” The term doublespeak means “evasive, ambiguous language that is intended to deceive or confuse.” There is perhaps no greater example of ironic doublespeak than inclusion of the phrase “civil liberties” within the inapt designation: “American Civil Liberties Union.” For ACLU founder Roger Baldwin made it clear: Communism is the goal.
CBN recently interviewed Herman Cain, one of the early GOP presidential candidates for 2012. With his considerable business experience and clear allegiance to conservative American values, he has already set himself apart from any other declared or potential presidential candidate. In fact, he could be the first GOP presidential candidate to offer the American people a clear alternative from liberalism in many years.
“If we continue down on the path on which the fiscal authorities put us, we will become insolvent, the question is when,” said Dallas Federal Reserve Bank President Richard Fisher after a recent speech at the University of Frankfurt. That is an alarming proclamation coming from a prominent central bank official. Not only because of the dire warning, but because Mr. Fisher is in a position to know of what he speaks.
It is little wonder that a 2006 survey by the McCormick Tribune Freedom Museum found that fewer than one percent of adults who responded to a national poll could identify the five rights protected by the First Amendment–freedom of religion, speech, the press, assembly and the right to petition the government. On the other hand, more than half (52%) of the respondents could name at least two of the characters in the animated Simpson television family, and 20% could name all five.
The Ellsworth flightline will be buzzing with a variety of military and civilian aerobatic teams in the skies over the base, as well as numerous ground acts and static displays, June 4, during Dakota Thunder 2011. The current list of headliners includes the F-16 Viper West demo team, MiG Fury Fighters, Trojan Horsemen T-28 demo team, and Ace Maker T-33s, as well as a host of static displays including the B-2 Spirit, B-52 Stratofortress, F-15E Strike Eagle, F-16 Fighting Falcon, and the advanced F-22 Raptor.
Author Jennifer Moses has an eye-opening and somewhat introspective article at the Wall Street Journal on how many of us parents allow our teenage daughters to dress. Why do we allow our teenage daughters to dress like prostitutes–and why do we pay for the clothes and makeup that make this possible? Are we too caught up in wanting to be our child’s friend? Do we feel hypocritical over our own youthful mistakes?
Fifty-five years ago, our national government affirmed one of the cornerstones upon which our nation was built by passing H.J.Res.396, declaring the official motto of the United States to be “In God We Trust.” Since then, our national motto has been left out of the new U.S. Capitol Visitor Center, discouraged from recognition in federal buildings, and our own president has publicly misstated our national motto. It is time we re-emphasized this important aspect of our heritage.
While President Obama promised of ObamaCare “This law will lower premiums,” many are already seeing their premiums skyrocket even though the program is far from fully implemented. Some increases of up to 60% are being reported. “Obama care went into effect and my rates went through the roof,” said Ralph Nilssen of Washington State.
How is it that in the most free, most affluent and most powerful nation on earth, we can have some Americans (even a relatively small number) who are blind enough to even consider the kind of bitter class envy it takes to contemplate toppling the U.S economy? One need look no further than the astonishing level of ignorance among the American people.
If even half of this is true, if even half of this is doable, this is some serious stuff. As exposed by The Blaze, it seems union leaders, community organizers and other socialists gathered at a forum at Pace University last weekend to do some brainstorming. Out of it came a plan to destabilize the U.S. economy and punish the “rich” whom they so despise. They’ve already been trying these tactics on a smaller scale around the country, but now it’s time for the American people to let them know we’re onto them, and we won’t tolerate these attacks on our way of life.
The South Dakota Legislature passed HB 1217 , a bill designed to reduce coercive abortions, during the 2011 session which is now almost over. It has been sitting on Gov. Dennis Daugaard’s desk for a couple of weeks now, with strong hints that this pro-life governor may sign it into law. In addition to abortion coercion from boyfriends, husbands, parents, employers and others, many young girls imprisoned in the sex trafficking trade are sent to abortionists by their pimps…and Planned Parenthood has repeatedly demonstrated that it is very comfortable with underage sex and prostitution.
South Dakota Family Policy Council President Chris Hupke applauded Governor Dennis Daugaard for signing the Informed Consent bill HB 1217, protecting women and unborn children stating, “Coercion is not Choice. When you read Planned Parenthood’s words from the depositions in the 2005 case they are appalling.”
Democrats in the House and Senate should vote to de-fund and repeal “Obamacare.” As a Democrat, my concern is that Obamacare is hurting senior citizens (and others) and will hurt all Democrat candidates in the 2012 elections. If Obamacare is not de-funded and repealed, I believe that in 2012 the Democratic Party will be hit by a tsunami size wave of angry senior citizen voters and other angry voters.
In the latest installment from PolitiZoid, we have an episode of Economic Jeopardy with Alex Quebec, where your elected officials jeopardize your economic future. Contestants on today’s show are Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, Speaker of the House John Boehner, and sitting in for President Obama is Prompton, the TOTUS.
Retired Lt. Col and now Tea Party-backed Rep. Allen West (R-FL) has a message for Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and the other liberals who hope the Tea Party movement will go away: The American people are not going away. In this video, West seems to be among friends as he updates his constituents. He even has a little fun at Harry Reid’s expense with a little impersonation of Reid talking about the Tea Party going away.
All around us we see symptoms of a deep and deadly illness that infects the body of our nation. Yes, I believe it is deadly, and our nation will not survive it. I’m not trying to depress anyone, but I am a realist. I’ve read the Book, and I know how the story ends. We’re not getting out of this deal. Are things hopeless? No, but they may get a lot worse before they get better.
We’ve all heard the liberals in society complaining that their taxes aren’t high enough, that they need to be paying more for government to do this or that, that we just may not be paying our fair share. Well, Rep. Hal Wick of Sioux Falls has come up with a solution for South Dakota that should please these liberals and still allow regular citizens to keep more of their own property in their own pocket: a fund to which guilt-ridden liberals can donate for government projects.
In remarks made to the newly formed Liberty Caucus, former State Senator and Gubernatorial candidate Gordon Howie suggested that Republican leadership is being less than honest when claiming they “balanced the budget without raising taxes”. Among other things, he points to the vehicle registration “fee” increase.”
We’ve all heard it said for at least a couple of decades now that the divorce rate among Christians is as bad as the divorce rate among non-Christians–about 50%. But USA Today featured an article last week about University of Connecticut sociologist Bradley Wright who went through the General Social Survey, an extensive demographic study done by the National Opinion Research Center at the University of Chicago. What he found was a considerable difference from the popular claim.
