“If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude than the animated contest of freedom, go from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains sit lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen!” – Samuel Adams

US House Votes to Cut NPR Taxpayer Funds

US House Votes to Cut NPR Taxpayer Funds

U.S. House Republicans are, for the most part, really acting like they got the message in last November’s election. The bill passed today 228-192 mostly along party lines, with no Democrats voting for it and 7 Republicans for it. The GOP’s continuing resolution rescinds funds for CPB which also runs PBS. It’s time this unnecessary taxpayer-funded Leftist propaganda machine was deprived of the taxpayer funding.

Drunk With Debt on St Patrick’s Day

Drunk With Debt on St Patrick's Day

A St. Patrick’s Day illustration of our national debt. Debt is a symptom of such overspending. And the US gross debt has reached $14 trillion — the size of the US economy. This has only happened once before in American history: World War II.

When it Quacks Like a Ponzi Scheme

When it Quacks Like a Ponzi Scheme

A reader took umbrage yesterday when I referred to Social Security and similar socialist programs as “ponzi schemes.” Fortuitiously, Dean Zarras wrote a column published in Forbes recently which explains in greater detail why Social Security is a ponzi scheme. Congress Fires Back at NLRB Over Secret Ballots

Congress Fires Back at NLRB Over Secret Ballots

Congressman Jeff Duncan of South Carolina introduced legislation aimed at protecting worker’s right to a secret ballot union election this week by prohibiting the National Labor Relations Board from funding a lawsuit against states that protect secret ballot rights. The bill is in response to threats made by the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) to lead a lawsuit against the states of Utah, South Carolina, Arizona and South Dakota, states where voters have protected their citizens right to secret ballot elections in their state constitution.

Amazing Victory for Marriage in Maryland

Amazing Victory for Marriage in Maryland

There’s a bit of good news out of Maryland. A bill legalizing same-sex marriage, which had been passed in the Senate, has been sent back to the Judiciary Committee, effectively killing it for the year. That may not sound like a huge deal, but when you consider the circumstances leading up to this, it’s nothing short of amazing. For months preceding the non-vote, it was widely assumed that this bill would sail through the Maryland congress, with the signature of Democrat Governor Martin O’Malley guaranteed after passage, but things didn’t go as homosexual activists had planned.

Democrats Indicted for Fake Tea Party Candidate Election Fraud

Democrats Indicted for Fake Tea Party Candidate Election Fraud

Operatives from the Oakland County Democratic Party in Michigan tried last year to manufacture fake Tea Party candidates to dilute the conservative vote in the 2010 election. Apparently an investigation was conducted and now two Democrats have been indicted on felony forgery and perjury in that scheme. Former Democratic Party Chairman Michael McGuinness and ex-Operations Director Jason Bauer were arraigned yesterday.
