“If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude than the animated contest of freedom, go from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains sit lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen!” – Samuel Adams

US Senate Fails to Repeal ObamaCare

US Senate Fails to Repeal ObamaCare

The U.S. Senate voted against repealing ObamaCare this afternoon, choosing to embrace what 26 states, the federal court system, the U.S. House of Representatives and the American people have resoundingly rejected. The Senate did vote to repeal one onerous but relatively small portion of ObamaCare–the costly 1099 reporting requirement on business–but 17 Democrats still couldn’t find it in themselves to reject even this.

Obama Admin Ignores Ruling Against ObamaCare

Obama Admin Ignores Ruling Against ObamaCare

Less than a day after federal Judge Roger Vinson’s sweeping ruling striking down the entirety of ObamaCare as unconstitutional, the federal government has announced its intentions to move ahead with implementation of the law anyway. “We’re about to find out if the rule of law will prevail, or the rule of Obama,” said Americans for Limited Government President Bill Wilson.

Chick-Fil-A Controversy is Anti-Christian Bigotry

Bishop E.W. Jackson Sr., Founder and President of STAND – Staying True to America’s National Destiny is accusing homosexual activists of anti-Christian bigotry and hatred. Recently, homosexuals have attacked Chik-Fil-A for supporting pro-family groups and events. They are calling for boycotts, banning the business from college campuses and labeling the owner and business as anti-gay. Some have ridiculed the business, calling it “Jesus Chicken.”

SOS: Speaking of Seniors - Seniors Benefit from School Choice

Three famous personalities discussed school choice in a recent public meeting at the North Shore Center for Performing Arts in Skokie, Illinois. Former Speaker of the House of Representatives Dennis Hastert, national radio show host Michael Medved, and political consultant and author Dick Morris discussed school choice and its benefits and answered questions from the audience.

ALERT: SD Legislature Floating NINE Tax Hike Bills

ALERT: SD Legislature Floating NINE Tax Hike Bills

Things are getting busy at the South Dakota Capitol, and the old saying still proves true. “No one’s life, liberty or property is safe while the Legislature is in session”. Currently, there are nine different bills before the Legislature to raise taxes. Everything from increased vehicle fees to so-called “temporary” sales tax hikes. Your contact with your legislators is needed to stop these tax increases.

Ethanol Lobby: Fuel Trumps Hunger

Ethanol Lobby: Fuel Trumps Hunger

Here is some food for thought: The amount of grain needed to fill the tank of an SUV with ethanol just once can feed one person for an entire year. Another hard-hitting fact: The 107 million tons of grain that went to U.S. ethanol distilleries in 2009 was enough to feed 330 million people for one year at average world consumption levels, as stated in an article on Food Freedom’s website. Still think the federal government’s mandate of ethanol in vehicles is a good idea?

ALERT: ObamaCare Repeal Vote in U.S. Senate Today

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell plans to offer a Repeal Obamacare amendment to the FAA reauthorization bill today! Now is the time to contact your two senators and urge the repeal of ObamaCare in the Senate, like the House did just a few weeks ago. Now is the time to put pressure on moderate Democrats to repeal Obama’s government takeover of health care.

Welfare Drug Testing May Receive Vote in SD House Today

Welfare Drug Testing May Receive Vote in SD House Today

HB 1152 to provide for drug testing for welfare recipients may be voted on in the South Dakota House today. No one is talking about a universal testing program of all welfare recipients, and no one is talking about going on a witch hunt for drug users. We all appreciate the sanctity of a person’s privacy. However, when you accept the financial assistance of another person, it is not at all unreasonable that we be assured that the assistance is necessary, and that the taxpayer’s hard-earned dollars aren’t being wasted on crack, meth or any other illegal drug–drugs that could have been the cause of poverty to begin with.

Drug Testing for Welfare Payments

Drug Testing for Welfare Payments

Two bills have been submitted to the South Dakota Legislature to provide better stewardship of the taxpayer’s money with regard to welfare payments. HB 1120 was submitted on Jan. 24 to allow for drug testing of any welfare recipient whom the Department of Social Services believes is using illegal drugs. That seems reasonable, right? Not according to some of the stewards of your money.

Sex Trafficking: There’s More to the Super Bowl Than Sports

Sex Trafficking: There's More to the Super Bowl Than Sports

The Florida Commission Against Human Trafficking estimated that “tens of thousands of women and minors were trafficked in the Miami area during the last Super Bowl.” One such trafficker, Manuel A. Walcott, was sentenced to 20 years in prison for offering a 14-year-old girl as a “Super Bowl Special” during the 2009 game in Tampa. When undercover investigators inquired about the special, they were quoted a price of $300 for two girls—a 14-year-old and an 18-year-old who had been a prostitute for two years.

Busted Again: Planned Parenthood Aids Underage Prostitution

Caught on video: A Planned Parenthood manager in New Jersey coaches a man and a woman posing as sex traffickers how to to secure secret abortions, STD testing, and contraception for their female underage sex slaves, and make their whole operation “look as legit as possible” in an undercover video released this morning.

South Dakota Legislature: Commitment to Freedom Too Much to Ask?

South Dakota Legislature: Commitment to Freedom Too Much to Ask?

After the South Dakota House State Affairs Committee shot down the Health Care Freedom Act last week, I received some replies from committee members to my earlier email urging passage of the bill. Without fail, each and every one of the responses from committee members contained expressions of seeming desire to shield South Dakotans from ObamaCare, but a uniform expression of powerlessness to do so. Why are our leaders so ignorant of our bold heritage of freedom, and so unwilling to go to the mat for liberty as our ancestors were?

Radical Homosexual Intimidation Cows Chick-fil-A

Radical Homosexual Intimidation Cows Chick-fil-A

Of all the heads of companies that allow themselves to be intimidated by the militant homosexual campaign, it’s doubly disappointing to see the caving of Chick-fil-A, one of the few, large, American companies that was proudly based on Christian principles. In this case, “fillet” is correct. Having made a clear stand for God in the past, it seems Chick-fil-A has opted for the “boneless chicken” this time.

ALERT: Homeschool Bill Needs Support

ALERT: Homeschool Bill Needs Support

HB 1133 has been submitted in the South Dakota Legislature to make it easier to file the annual homeschool exception form and consider it valid when submitted, not weeks or months or months later when the bureaucracy finally gets around to it. The bill is scheduled for a committee hearing on Feb. 2.

Informed Consent Bill Introduced in SD House

Informed Consent Bill Introduced in SD House

HB 1217 was introduced in the South Dakota House of Representatives yesterday. HB 1217 will require that before an abortion can be performed, a woman must first be seen by the acting abortion doctor and undergo a survey of potential health and emotional risks along with identifying potential coercion. Currently a woman speaks only to a receptionist when scheduling an abortion, then sees the doctor just before the procedure.
