Why are Democrats in Wisconsin and Indiana running from their jobs rather than face a vote on fiscal responsibility and curbing union power? It’s because their utopian enclaves are threatened, and they would rather pull a very old political maneuver than see their fantasy crumble.

Are we to be the generation that drops the ball? Each generation of Americans has bequeathed to their posterity a land stronger than they received. We were handed the unquestioned leadership of the world and after less than two decades we have frittered it away.

If “all the Law” hangs on loving God and loving others, then to love God is to obey him and to obey him is to love others. But what does it really mean to love others? Should you walk down the street hugging everyone you meet saying, “I love you”? Should loving others be accompanied by feelings of affection? Are these feelings essential to loving others and if absent does this mean you’re not being loving?

Whatever is in your checking account you are likely to spend. Whatever is in your investments you are less likely to spend. Automating the process of saving and investing is like damming a river to form a reservoir. The alternative is the manual process of hauling buckets of water from your stream to a water tower. You will never grow rich by hauling buckets, and it’s much harder work.

Children Need Parents, a bi-partisan group of mothers and fathers who have come together to reform South Dakota’s antiquated child custody laws, applauded the South Dakota House of Representatives for passing HB 1255. On Wednesday the South Dakota House passed legislation that would restore fairness and equity to South Dakota’s child custody laws by a vote of 53 to 16. The legislature is getting behind a bill that brings both parents back into the lives of children of divorces,” said District 5 State Rep. Melissa Magstadt.

As we have seen over the past few days alone, “transsexuality” and “transgenderism” are becoming the new frontier of the sexual anarchists. They aren’t stopping at forcing you to pay for their gender reassignment surgeries, or even at forcing state agencies to affirm these disorders. No, now that they have succeeded in allowing homosexuals to serve openly in the military, they want transsexuals, cross-dressers and others like this to serve in the military too.

Unions are supposed to protect the interests of the workers, right? Isn’t that what we’re always told? Then why did the elites at the United Federation of Teachers blow nearly $1.4 million for an anniversary gala at the Hilton? I’m sure that’ll help keep teachers in the classrom, right?

For want of a better moth-eaten phrase, the inmates are running the asylum in Massachusetts. The pro-family action center, Mass Resistance, reports that last Wednesday, Governor Deval Patrick, by dictatorial fiat with the unannounced stroke of a pen, mandated transgenderism for all state agencies. His executive order mandates acceptance of transsexuality, cross-dressing, and related behaviors.

South Dakotans object when the federal government uses a ‘one size fits all’ approach, treating all the states the same way. We are not the same as California or New York. Each state is a better judge of its own state values than is the federal government. In the same way, we should not use a ‘one size fits all’ approach when it comes to our counties, school districts and municipalities.

The term “useful idiot” is believed to have been coined by Vladimir Lenin. It originally described liberal Communist sympathizers in Western nations who, as the Soviet leader explained, would “sell us (Soviet Russia) the rope with which we will hang them (the West).” Today’s useful idiots are a swath from that same politically correct cloth. Only the role of “international-villain-bent-on-world-domination” has changed. We’ve gone from the Soviet hammer and sickle to the Islamic crescent moon and star.

FreedomWorks employee Tabitha Hale was filming a heated discussion with a union thug outside the FreedomWorks office when a union thug charged, hitting her with a sign and throwing her phone. Had he been listening to Rep. Michael Capuano (D-MA) who recently told union thugs in Boston that things “get a little bloody” out on the streets? Article 2 Section 1 of the Constitution contains the oath of office which requires the president to uphold the Constitution and to execute his office faithfully. As chief of our executive branch, it is his duty to see that the laws of our nation are carried out. He does not have the option of ignoring some laws…as President Obama has decided to do with 1 U.S.C. § 7 and 28 U.S.C. § 1738C, more commonly known as the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA). What do we do with a president who refuses to do his job?

When faced with actual real cuts in their budgets, managers in either the private or public sector have some basic priority decisions to make. One option that few would consider would be shutting down your entire operation for almost two months, and then trying to restart from scratch after that length of time. Yet, listening to the professional left react to the House passage of the Continuing Resolution, and the reaction of public employee unions in Wisconsin and elsewhere, you would think that this is the only alternative.

Gov. Daugaard has submitted a bill to the South Dakota Legislature to improve the way South Dakota attracts large, job-creating projects to the state. Our current program provides tax refunds to attract businesses that would have come to South Dakota anyway. Daugaard estimates the new plan will save $7 million that can go into the general fund.
