An individual’s right to travel unmolested by an over-earnest TSA must be weighed against the realities of the terror threat, the federal government’s responsibility to ensure national security, and his fellow passengers’ right to fly safely. Similarly, a woman’s “right” to privacy, or choice – choose your “penumbra” – ends at her unborn child’s right to life. No amount of rhetorical obfuscation or wallowing in abstractions will change that fact.

The Bowles Simpson deficit cutting commission is more Washington theater. Another show with an impressive cast designed to give the appearance of being serious. This kind of theater, unfortunately, not only accomplishes little or nothing, but it makes things worse. Under the guise of doing something, it obfuscates our real problems.

Governor Steve Beshear of Kentucky and Answers in Genesis recently announced a partnership between AiG and Ark Encounter to build a full-scale recreation of Noah’s Ark in northern Kentucky not too far from AiG’s $27 million, 70,00 sq. ft Creation Museum. In addition to a full-scale ark, the 800-acre complex will include a replica of the Tower of Babel, a 5-D special effects theater, an aviary, and much more.

Pastor Dale Bartscher of the Family Heritage Alliance says the city of Rapid City did the right thing in seizing the sexually-oriented materials at a local Spencer’s Gifts store. The materials were in violation of an Adult Oriented Business ordinance passed by Rapid City in 2003, and the city made numerous attempts to resolve the issue with Spencer’s Gifts before taking the action.

Last week we informed you about a “food safety” bill that was little more than an FDA power grab that would add compliance costs to farmers’ bottom line and raise food costs. The bad news is that it passed the U.S. Senate 73-25. The good news is that the Daily Caller reports the liberals in the Senate acted unconstitutionally in passing this bill, and it is uncertain whether there will be time to pass another version before the end of the year.

The take from Chairman of the Joint Chiefs Admiral Mike Mullen on the possibility that congress may force open homosexuality on the U.S. military is an interesting one. Rather than telling homosexuals who have a problem conforming to military behavior standards that they may find themselves looking for a new job, Adm. Mullen says the 97.1% of military personnel who are not engaged in an immoral and unhealthy sexual behavior that they are the ones who must conform to the demands of an immoral 2.9% of the population.

Some people doubted me when I recently denounced the deficit commission panel as just another pantywaist liberal exercise that would do nothing to get at the heart of America’s fiscal hemorrhaging. Now we see that rather than recommend ditching the trillion-dollar unconstitutional ObamaCare scheme, they want to keep it…but make “hard choices” about what to pay for and how much. America was warned…

Blizzard and freezing temperatures continue in Europe: what a wonderful time to go to Cancun and talk about how the earth will be destroyed by global warming if we don’t stop all these evil capitalists and take their money away from them. London’s Gatwick Airport is closed for a second day, and several are dead from the cold in Poland, the Czech Republic and elsewhere.

Perhaps the most serious and terrifying threat against our nation and the world is a danger about which most Americans likely know little or nothing. That threat is of an electromagnetic pulse—or EMP—attack. The Heritage Foundation has released a bone-chilling report which analyzes in detail what an EMP attack is and the horrific effects it would have on our country, and it gives important recommendations for guarding our nation from such an attack.

A free press and people willing to share their thoughts whether popular or unpopular have long been the bane of tyrants. Those who seek to order the lives of others and to micromanage the fate of nations cannot abide the literature of liberty or the discourse of free people boldly proclaiming that the government that governs least governs best.

This Christmas let us not be swept away by the illusory claims of consumerism; instead, let us revel in God’s gracious gifts, to drink deeply the wonder of relationships and life and every moment of this season—these will leave you truly satisfied and debt free!

The latest globaloney pronouncement from the true believers in Cancun claims food prices will rise because evil capitalists are heating up the earth with all their money and freedom. The last I checked–and I grew up on a farm–not too much grows during winter, but as summer comes on and things get hot, crops and all sorts of vegetation grow like crazy. Do global warming enthusiasts have the intelligence of an eggplant…or do they think I do?

Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI): “Of the GAO’s unfunded liability figure, which is a $76 TRILLION figure, almost all of it is health care. You cannot preempt a debt crisis, get this fiscal house in order, without dealing with health care.” No kidding!

They collapse because of an erosion of inner conviction. And part of that is an abandonment of the primacy of their culture and a desire to become part of a polyglot multicultural bizarre non-entity that has absolutely no coherence to it whatsoever. This happened to the Roman Empire, it happened to what is left of the British Empire, and Heaven knows you see it happening to American civilization.”

There is no doubt whatsoever that America needs to drastically cut spending. Along with radical advances toward socialism, the reckless spending of our liberal-controlled government is what spawned the birth of the Tea Party movement last year. Roughly half of the federal budget is spent on entitlement programs that would not only be better handled in the private sector, the U.S. Constitution provides no authority for the federal government to run such programs. But the Constitution provides authority for defense spending, and the reality is that we continue to live in a very dangerous world.

As global warming bureaucrats meet in Cancun to discuss climate change, heavy snow and subfreezing temperatures hit Western Europe closing airports, delaying trains, and threatening electrical grids in France. The coldest November night in 45 years was recorded in Switzerland as socialists met on the sandy beaches of South America to discuss ways to separate free people from more of their hard-earned money. It can be tough on socialists when reality intrudes on their fantasies.

Global warming apostles tell us we must cut back, we must ration, we must minimize our use of our fragile planet’s meager resources. After all, if too many of us unwashed peasants use a normal share, there might not be enough left for the elitist socialists in the IPCC and their friends to gorge themselves on luxury.
