Huckabee Has the Gall to Talk 2012?

Mike Huckabee

The Politico reports Mike Huckabee is upset that he isn’t getting enough attention, and is rumbling more and more in the direction of a 2012 presidential run.

(Sigh) Anyone with a shred of decency and capacity for self-evaluation who had Huckabee’s record would not waste our time on running for president…or anything of any importance.

Do I really need to remind my fellow Americans that Mike Huckabee has an abysmal record on illegal immigration? Huckabee is the governor who called efforts to crack down on illegal immigration “inflammatory and race-baiting.”  Huckabee is the governor who fought for tuition discounts for illegal aliens.  Huckabee is the governor who worked to bring a Mexican consulate to Arkansas–the kind of consulate that has been known to issue “Matricula Consular” ID cards which give the fraudulent impression of legal residence in the United States to illegal aliens. Huckabee also worked to make it easier for illegal aliens to get drivers licenses, again creating the illusion that they are in our country legally. Huckabee is the governor who said a bill to deny public assistance and voting rights to illegal aliens “inflames those who are racist and bigots and makes them think there’s a real problem. But there’s not.”  There’s no problem with illegal aliens pouring across our border by the millions, fraudulently using Social Security numbers and assuming privileges reserved for law-abiding Americans?  Huckabee sounds like the typical liberal here.

Do I really need to remind my fellow Americans that Mike Huckabee has sounded embarrassingly like an appeasement liberal when it comes to dealing decisively with terrorism and terrorists?  Huckabee is the man who attended a liberal appeasement confab which advocated going easy on terrorists. Also, like Barack Obama and other appeasement liberals, Huckabee said he would close the terrorist POW camp at Club Gitmo; after all, the POW camp upsets people who hate us anyway.

Do I really need to remind my fellow Americans about Mike Huckabee’s less than stellar record on taxes?  He pushed for taxes (excuse me, “fees”) on nursing home beds, gas taxes, and about 20 other taxes that went up on his watch.

Do I really need to remind my fellow Americans that Huckabee is a waffler on homosexuality and marriage? Huckabee once told the Concord Monitor that he was okay with homosexual “civil unions” (which are nothing but a prelude which emulates homosexual “marriage” when the full goal cannot yet be obtained) as long as homosexual activists didn’t try to call it “marriage.”

Do I really need to remind my fellow Americans that Mike Huckabee is worse than most Democrats when it comes to crime and punishment? Public safety is probably the single most important function of government and any government official, with the administration of justice quick on it’s heels in importance.  But as governor of Arkansas, Mike Huckabee granted clemency to more convicted criminals than the six states surrounding Arkansas combined.  What makes this even worse is that several of the Huckabee Clemency Alumni have graduated from prison to go on and wreak fresh death and destruction on the public, including Wayne Dumond who, after being freed by Huckabee from his sentence for raping a cheerleader, went on to rape and kill a woman, and was suspected in another rape and murder (he died in prison before he could face the second set of fresh charges). And we mustn’t forget Maurice Clemmons who Huckabee freed and went on to slaughter four Washington state police officers last year. Incidentally, Huckabee continues to dodge responsibility for the blood on his hands and hopes voters will listen to what he says and not be mindful of what he has done.  Huckabee lacks a fundamental understanding of the nature of evil.

Do I really need to remind my fellow Americans that Mike Huckabee is little more than a pro-life liberal?

It’s no wonder the American Spectator has noted Huckabee sounds like a Democrat on economic issues,  or that conservative stalwart Phyllis Schlafly says Huckabee destroyed conservatism in Arkansas (that tends to happen when liberals are allowed masquerade as conservatives). Huckabee’s record is not even remotely one of a conservative.

When I attended the Values Voter Summit in Washington D.C. in 2007, all of the Republican presidential candidates spoke at that event.  Though there was no way I would have voted for Rudy Giuliani because of his pro-abortion and other liberal positions, I went away from those speeches having more respect for Giuliani than Huckabee.  Why?  Because Giuliani came before the conservatives of that summit with honesty, admitting there were serious differences between himself and the values voter crowd, but asked them to support him because of shared values like fighting terrorism, etc.  Huckabee, on the other hand, came pretending that he was strong on illegal immigration and was an all-around solid conservative.  I don’t know about you, but I don’t appreciate it when someone tries to shine me on and treats me like I’m too stupid to see the obvious.

Yeah, Mike Huckabee was a Baptist minister.  So what?  Jimmy Carter was a Baptist.  Bill Clinton was a Baptist. Barack Obama says he’s a Christian.  Saying you’re something doesn’t mean jack squat. Jesus said, “By their fruits you will recognize them.” Don’t listen to what people like Mike Huckabee say about themselves; look at the record of their fruits. Mike Huckabee is a tree bearing rotten liberal fruit.

Sorry folks.  Liberals are stupid enough to vote for people who say their one thing while their record proves they are something else.  Conservatives shouldn’t be that gullible; we have a higher standard. Don’t make your fellow conservatives look bad–and waste valuable time and energy that could be better spent on real conservative candidates–by considering Mike Huckabee for even 3/4 of a second.

  1. I sure do like this Mike Huckabee, hope he decides to run in 2012. I would encourage you to research him a little more, you may be surprised in the good things you find.

  3. Bob Ellis hates Huckabee this much? Evidently I need to root for Huckabee over Palin.

  4. Huckabee is a liberal far closer to your persuasion than Palin, that’s for sure.

  5. Is this a spam comment Clacks? Did you read anything at all here? Or are you a liberal?

  6. Are you a liberal like Clacks?

  7. You like Huckabee and would research him more? What MORE do you need to know besides his extensive anti-conservative record that Bob Ellis has provided here in detail with supporting website links?

You’re a Huckabee shill, and I see that your fellow Huckabee shills are coming out of the woodwork to support his liberal self here on the comments section. Don’t doubt for a minute that the TRUE conservative America will do all we must do to expose this charlatan and keep him from having a place on the 2012 presidential ticket. It ain’t happening for Mike Huckabee!

  8. Hey, BoBo! What do mean, “Bob Ellis hates Huckabee…”? Since when is clearly and intelligently DOCUMENTING

  9. Oh please- the hate just spews out spinning events in histstory without their proper context. Such hate will only hurt your insides. Huckabee is in fact a conservative with a dynamic approach that reaches conservatives and importantly indepenedndents. Like it or not we need them tro win elections. Huckabee is the GOPs best bet to beat BHO. For the respondents who think this article was a fact filled honestly supported opinion piece, I have a bridge in Brooklyn thats for sale for you.

  10. HATE!!! Hate spewing!!! It’s the left that uses those dumb crutch terms. You Huckbots will get nowhere here.

Huckabee’s record is clear. He is NOT conservative, and he likely never will be.

Why don’t you prove your statement that this article is not filled with facts?

  11. No, Joshua, it’s people like Huckabee (and McCain) who helped put Obama in power. RINOs like Huckabee confuse people who don’t know better. They see “Republicans” who act like Democrats, conclude “all the parties are the same” and tune out.

“Practical?” That’s a very generous way of dodging what Huckabee really is: liberal. Deal with it. Grapple with it. It’s reality. Don’t run from it.

I’m actually not a big Palin for Pres supporter, but she would definitely be preferable to a liberal like Huckabee.

No one knew Maurice Clemmons would kill four police officers? Did you read the information I linked to? Anyone in their right mind would have known Clemmons was a danger to public safety–except Huckabee, that is. No, he was too busy trying to prove what a big-hearted person he was…while completely disregarding public safety. Someone like him has no business making ANY decisions that affect public safety–certainly not the highest executive in America.

If Huckabee says Jerusalem should not be divided (which I honestly don’t know whether he said or not), that’s one point for him. However, remember that despite all his opposition to getting tough on illegal aliens, he’s now a tough guy on the issue and wants us all to believe he always was–in other words, he’s a liar and a faker who can’t be trusted in anything he says. Meanwhile, the landslide of evidence shows he is a liberal who is in many ways worse than a lot of Democrats.

Huckabee should have taken the advice of James 3:1. I’d hate to hear the kind of rot-gut trash he must be teaching when he fills a pulpit. But I KNOW the kind of rot he taught by example when he led Arkansas–he taught people to appease evil, be gullible, and promote good-ole’=boy liberalism.

You should be ashamed of yourself for looking all the information I’ve provided in the eye…and still not seeing. That is, unless you’re a liberal yourself (which you probably are), in which case I already understand: liberals have no shame.

  12. You are completely delusional, Gary. Do you know how I know that? I provided you with overwhelming proof that Mike Huckabee is nothing but a self-serving, color-changing pro-life liberal…and you still have the audacity to claim he is a conservative!

You either have no clue whatsoever what conservatism is, or you’re one of these shallow-minded buffoons that give the conservative movement a bad name by picking some mediocre candidate that you like for some reason and then “redefine” the meaning of conservatism so that it fits your boy.

Get a grip, get a clue and grow up, man! Take off your Huckster Glasses, read the information and links I provided, and have the intellectual integrity of C.S. Lewis to follow the truth where it leads.

Huckabee is a charlatan and a liberal. Deal with it.

  13. You’re apparently as delusional as Gary–and a liberal to boot.

With a few exceptions here and there (e.g. pro-life, pro-gun), Huckabee’s record is pretty liberal across the board.

No, I’m not talking about all the crap he’s been spouting since late 2007 when he realized he needed to clean up his liberal act and start making himself look like a conservative. I’m talking about his record, about things he said and did before he started whoring for votes.

We’re not talking “technicalities” regarding illegal aliens. We’re talking about a long and solid record of opposing any effort to deal with illegal aliens–and actually working to reward illegals. Gilchrist’s endorsement of Huckabee is a mystery to many people, including dozens of immigration and border control leaders. When he made this insane endorsement, I talked to Carmen Mercer, Vice President of the Minuteman Civil Defense Corps, and she didn’t get it either. She said Gilchrist had left their organization some time before and was doing his own thing, that he did not speak for their organization. Did he get beguiled by Huckabee’s strip-changing lies?

Clemmons? You want to quibble over whether this dirtbag’s sentence was “commuted” rather than “eliminated?” I’m sure that’s a great comfort to his victims that he murdered–and their families. Clemmons–and a host of other recipients of Huckabee’s dangerous clemency–had records that any reasonable human being would realize demanded they be kept locked up as long as possible.

And no, I don’t support Romney either. He’s as big a lying, stripe-changing vote whore as Huckabee.

I can only conclude that you are either too stupid to tell the difference between what someone DOES and what someone SAYS about themselves, or you’re really just as liberal as Huckabee–or even more so.

What a joke. Please, stop trashing conservatism and the conservative movement by associating yourself with it. Like Huckabee, you’re confusing people and making them think we are as stupid and incapable of dealing with evil as he is.

  14. Does a good conservative support a candidate who waffles on homosexuality and marriage as Huckabee has? I don’t think so.

Does a good conservative support a candidate who is so feeble on crime and punishment that he grants clemency to more criminals than the other six states which surround his–COMBINED? Many of said criminals having long and reprehensible records that indicate even if they wouldn’t commit crimes again if released, at the very least they do not deserve less than the full extent of their sentence? I don’t think so…at all.

Does a good conservative support a candidate who has overwhelmingly demonstrated his aversion to getting touggh on illegal aliens and getting the immigration situation in our country under control? I don’t think so.

Does a good conservative support a candidate who has a mixed-to-poor record on taxation? I don’t think so.

Since you support a candidate who fits this description–which is the description of a liberal–you look more like a liberal than a conservative.

It must be disappointing to you, but I go by actions rather than words. It’s obvious (granting that you may honestly think yourself a conservative) that you aren’t intelligent enough to do that; you are apparently gullible enough to swalllow anything a politician tells you, as long as what he’s telling you matches your beliefs.

Never mind that said politician’s actual record proves them to be a brazen liar. Nope, his word is good enough.

It takes an incredible moron, or someone dangerously gullible, to take someone’s word for something IN CONTRADICTION TO A MOUNTAIN OF EVIDENCE. Now maybe there are conservatives out there who are really that stupid, but fortunately I’ve never run into them. Conservatives I know are intellingent enough to realize when someone is shining them on–especially when they have to stumble over the evidence to get to the issue.

Ignorance is one thing, but you can’t claim ignorance. Even if you had never been exposed to the Huckster’s record before, I’ve provided you with more than enough evidence to cure your ignorance. Deliberately ignoring the truth doesn’t give you the cover that ignorance might.

Any one of these areas taken by themselves might still merit support from a conservative for Huckabee. But ALL OF THEM? And some with constently terrible records such as with illegal aliens and crime and punishment? Disgusting! Pathetic to even consider supporting such a liberal charlatan.

You have a lot of gall (so much, that you again sound like a liberal) to talk about arguing the merits of a candidate and dealing with specific issues. I have done so in excruciating and voluminous detail, yet you seem to remain as blind as a bat.

You are so blind in your zeal to back Huckabee, you are completely oblivious to fact, logic or truth. You are so paranoid, you think I’m backing this candidate or that (I’ve been accused of backing Palin over Huckabee–though she’d be better, I’m not backing ANYONE right now, and Palin would be considerably down on my list; I’ve also been accused of supporting Romney over Huckabee, but he’s as big a vote whore as Huckabee, and I’ve trashed his Romney care plenty of times). Of course, none of this matters to idiots like you; you have to find some basis on which to dismiss the dirty, inconvenient truth about your boy, because that is easier than facing the fact that you’ve been backing a pro-life liberal.

Pathetic. Absolutely pathetic. You should try being a grownup and admitting you were wrong about this poor excuse for a Republican. If you really cared more about the conservative cause and the Republican Party, you would.

If there is genuinely the slightest appreciation for conservatism in you, I beseech you: shut the heck up. You’re leading people to believe that conservatives are as stupid as a box of rocks, and I’m sorry, but we don’t have time for the general public to think conservatives are dumber than two mules fighting over a turnip. Our republic is in jeopardy and we don’t need distractions like the one you’re producing. You’re like a blind man who’s waving around a loaded gun in a room full of people and pulling the trigger every few seconds.

If you can’t at least shut your pie hole for the good of the conservative movement, I can only conclude you really are a liberal, and want to convince average Americans who might not know better that conservatives really are too stupid to have any good ideas. Anyone who would look at Huckabee’s record and consider him a conservative either doesn’t have a clue what conservatism is, or is so gullible that it would be dangerous to agree with them on anything. That is you, sir, and we don’t need uninformed voters looking to someone who claims to know what they’re talking about and either being misled about the candidate or being misled into believing that conservatives are too stupid to recognize their rear end from a hole in the ground.

  15. Hi Bob,

What’s ur view on Rush Limabugh? Racism?

  16. Rush Limbaugh: great guy, solid conservative.

    Racism: bad stuff.

    How about you?

  17. Fine, WHat about these comments:
“I mean, let’s face it, we didn’t have slavery in this country for over 100 years because it was a bad thing. Quite the opposite: slavery built the South. I’m not saying we should bring it back; I’m just saying it had its merits. For one thing, the streets were safer after dark.”

“You know who deserves a posthumous Medal of Honor? James Earl Ray [the confessed assassin of Martin Luther King]. We miss you, James. Godspeed.”

these comments were made by the Great Rush

  18. Another fake, made-up “Rush quote.” Why don’t you try listening to the show to learn about him for yourself instead of relying on anti-American Leftist websites that don’t give a rip about even bothering to stick to the facts?

  19. Why do you ask Bob what he thinks about Rush and then come back and post lies about Rush? You won’t get away with that here.

It’s not likely that you don’t know that those are made-up quotes falsely attributed to Rush. You’re just parroting the leftist race-baiting talking points. Take it down the road.
