The Politico reports Mike Huckabee is upset that he isn’t getting enough attention, and is rumbling more and more in the direction of a 2012 presidential run.
(Sigh) Anyone with a shred of decency and capacity for self-evaluation who had Huckabee’s record would not waste our time on running for president…or anything of any importance.
Do I really need to remind my fellow Americans that Mike Huckabee has an abysmal record on illegal immigration? Huckabee is the governor who called efforts to crack down on illegal immigration “inflammatory and race-baiting.” Huckabee is the governor who fought for tuition discounts for illegal aliens. Huckabee is the governor who worked to bring a Mexican consulate to Arkansas–the kind of consulate that has been known to issue “Matricula Consular” ID cards which give the fraudulent impression of legal residence in the United States to illegal aliens. Huckabee also worked to make it easier for illegal aliens to get drivers licenses, again creating the illusion that they are in our country legally. Huckabee is the governor who said a bill to deny public assistance and voting rights to illegal aliens “inflames those who are racist and bigots and makes them think there’s a real problem. But there’s not.” There’s no problem with illegal aliens pouring across our border by the millions, fraudulently using Social Security numbers and assuming privileges reserved for law-abiding Americans? Huckabee sounds like the typical liberal here.
Do I really need to remind my fellow Americans that Mike Huckabee has sounded embarrassingly like an appeasement liberal when it comes to dealing decisively with terrorism and terrorists? Huckabee is the man who attended a liberal appeasement confab which advocated going easy on terrorists. Also, like Barack Obama and other appeasement liberals, Huckabee said he would close the terrorist POW camp at Club Gitmo; after all, the POW camp upsets people who hate us anyway.
Do I really need to remind my fellow Americans about Mike Huckabee’s less than stellar record on taxes? He pushed for taxes (excuse me, “fees”) on nursing home beds, gas taxes, and about 20 other taxes that went up on his watch.
Do I really need to remind my fellow Americans that Huckabee is a waffler on homosexuality and marriage? Huckabee once told the Concord Monitor that he was okay with homosexual “civil unions” (which are nothing but a prelude which emulates homosexual “marriage” when the full goal cannot yet be obtained) as long as homosexual activists didn’t try to call it “marriage.”
Do I really need to remind my fellow Americans that Mike Huckabee is worse than most Democrats when it comes to crime and punishment? Public safety is probably the single most important function of government and any government official, with the administration of justice quick on it’s heels in importance. But as governor of Arkansas, Mike Huckabee granted clemency to more convicted criminals than the six states surrounding Arkansas combined. What makes this even worse is that several of the Huckabee Clemency Alumni have graduated from prison to go on and wreak fresh death and destruction on the public, including Wayne Dumond who, after being freed by Huckabee from his sentence for raping a cheerleader, went on to rape and kill a woman, and was suspected in another rape and murder (he died in prison before he could face the second set of fresh charges). And we mustn’t forget Maurice Clemmons who Huckabee freed and went on to slaughter four Washington state police officers last year. Incidentally, Huckabee continues to dodge responsibility for the blood on his hands and hopes voters will listen to what he says and not be mindful of what he has done. Huckabee lacks a fundamental understanding of the nature of evil.
Do I really need to remind my fellow Americans that Mike Huckabee is little more than a pro-life liberal?
It’s no wonder the American Spectator has noted Huckabee sounds like a Democrat on economic issues, or that conservative stalwart Phyllis Schlafly says Huckabee destroyed conservatism in Arkansas (that tends to happen when liberals are allowed masquerade as conservatives). Huckabee’s record is not even remotely one of a conservative.
When I attended the Values Voter Summit in Washington D.C. in 2007, all of the Republican presidential candidates spoke at that event. Though there was no way I would have voted for Rudy Giuliani because of his pro-abortion and other liberal positions, I went away from those speeches having more respect for Giuliani than Huckabee. Why? Because Giuliani came before the conservatives of that summit with honesty, admitting there were serious differences between himself and the values voter crowd, but asked them to support him because of shared values like fighting terrorism, etc. Huckabee, on the other hand, came pretending that he was strong on illegal immigration and was an all-around solid conservative. I don’t know about you, but I don’t appreciate it when someone tries to shine me on and treats me like I’m too stupid to see the obvious.
Yeah, Mike Huckabee was a Baptist minister. So what? Jimmy Carter was a Baptist. Bill Clinton was a Baptist. Barack Obama says he’s a Christian. Saying you’re something doesn’t mean jack squat. Jesus said, “By their fruits you will recognize them.” Don’t listen to what people like Mike Huckabee say about themselves; look at the record of their fruits. Mike Huckabee is a tree bearing rotten liberal fruit.
Sorry folks. Liberals are stupid enough to vote for people who say their one thing while their record proves they are something else. Conservatives shouldn’t be that gullible; we have a higher standard. Don’t make your fellow conservatives look bad–and waste valuable time and energy that could be better spent on real conservative candidates–by considering Mike Huckabee for even 3/4 of a second.
