Report: Less Than Half of U.S. Children in Intact Homes

According to the “Index of Belonging and Rejection” report by Dr. Pat Fagan of the Family Research Council’s Marriage and Religion Research Institute, less than half of American children are growing up in intact homes where both parents are present. The black family is hardest hit, with only 17% of children living with both parents. The breakdown of the family not only has devastating emotional implications for children, but creates a host of costly societal problems including academic issues, crime, and welfare dependency.

KNBN News Center 1 came to the South Dakota Tea Party Alliance meeting last night at the Ramkota Best Western in Rapid City. They talked to SDTPA board member and Treasurer Zach Lautenschlager about the tax deal worked out between President Barack Obama and congressional Republicans. Lautenschlager said that while the country definitely needs to maintain current tax rates and not allow them to go up as they are soon scheduled to do, we don’t need all the pork that seems to have come with the deal.
