An analysis done by NCPA looked at overall medical cost inflation and several subsets of health care costs from 1992 to 2008, finding that when consumers pay for health care out of their own pocket rather than have them paid by a third party, costs rise much more slowly. Greater consumer involvement in health care decisions–not less, as ObamaCare engineers–is the key to getting America’s health care system under control.
The South Dakota Republican Party announced today that State Senator-elect Eldon Nygaard has switched his Party affiliation from Democrat to Republican. Senator-elect Nygaard has served in the South Dakota House of Representatives from 2006-2010. Nygaard was successfully elected to the State Senate on November 2, 2010.
The way TSA is now treating air travelers like criminal suspects is wrong, but as Americans we do need a laugh or two as we deal with our oppressive government. The folks at ReasonTV have put together an illustrative and humorous clip using some modern-day real life security inspection footage, plus some footage from the Nicholas Cage movie “ConAir.” The way things are going, this is too close to the truth!
Social conservatives are smart enough to realize that not only does fiscal conservatism rest on the foundation of socially conservative values, they are also smart enough to realize that the Tea Party movement is a much more powerful political force when neither the social conservatives or social liberals attempt to hijack its message for or against social conservatism. Let us hope the rogue social liberals in the Tea Party movement can get a clue and get back on board with this truth.
South Dakota’s new U.S. Representative-elect Kristi Noem was elected by her peers yesterday to represent the freshmen of the House to the House GOP leadership team. Having served as Assistant Majority Leader in the South Dakota House of Representatives, she had leadership experience and makes an excellent choice for this role along with Rep-elect Tim Scott (R-SC). Noem was interviewed on Fox News this morning by Gretchen Carlson who referred to her as “the new face of the GOP.”
In the backlash against the federal government’s intrusive and offensive new air travel security procedures, Rep. Ron Paul (R-TX) has introduced the Air Traveler Dignity Act, HR 6416. Says Paul, “This TSA version of our rights looks more like the ‘rights’ granted in the old Soviet Constitutions, where freedoms were granted to Soviet citizens – right up to the moment the state decided to remove those freedoms.”
It has finally spilled over into being just too much for me to not say something. For the past two years I have been keenly aware of the poor taste of Barack and Michelle Obama. I have seen and read how both of them have diminished the office of President of the United States. I have seen how Obama has gone around the world bowing and scraping before despots, needlessly apologizing for our great nation…and now First Lady Michelle Obama has made the Best-Dressed List.
