What I don’t like about television are a number of things, including the distorted and salacious portrayal of an over-sexed culture. The over-the-top leftist political agenda that is woven throughout most networks and channels is also something I can live without forever. It’s not just the leftist politics, but also the sickening, narcissistic navel-gazing mentality of the “Me” mindset which has long been cultivated by the left.

You know that movie guy James Cameron is a “live in a hut, eat alfalfa sprouts and ride a bicycle” kinda guy, right? After all, he demonizes the modern Western way of life in his movies, right? All that energy and industry and comfort are just horrible, right? He’s big on fighting the hoax of anthropogenic global warming, right? He says we’re going to have to live with less, right? So, is three houses in Malibu “living with less?”

Kristi Noem just looks better and better, and smarter and smarter, all the time. The New York Times blog reports Kristi Noem won’t commit to supporting the House Republican leader, John A. Boehner of Ohio, to be the next speaker when Republicans win control. She’s right: we need someone who will aggressively promote the conservative agenda, not play footsie with the Democrats.

I hate to speak ill of another Republican or Christian in public, but it appears Mike Huckabee is heading to Iowa and may be preparing for another presidential run in 2012. America–especially Republicans–must be informed about Huckabee’s absolutely pathetic record on public safety, and the Seattle Times recently did a lengthy expose on one of the most dangerous animals Huckabee ever unleashed on an unsuspecting public.

Black Hills Christian Academy is hosting a presentation by Washington D.C.-based author, speaker and scholar Dr. Catherine Millard on Tuesday, November 2nd, 6:30 pm, Calvary Temple Assembly of God Sanctuary, located at 240 West Highway14 in Spearfish. She will speak on the systematic rewriting of American history and the overlooked Christian heritage of South Dakota and events leading to statehood.

Taxes will be the issue on the floor of the first debate of the newly-formed Black Hills Collegiate Debating Union when area students meet on Saturday, October 23. The venue for the inaugural debate will be the Lecture Hall of National American University in Rapid City, at 10:00 am. Doors will open at 9:00 am.

The Family Heritage Alliance’s “Stand!” event was held tonight in Rapid City at First Assembly of God Church. The keynote speaker for the evening was Ken Blackwell, the Senior Fellow for Family Empowerment at the Family Research Council. Blackwell spoke on the role of the family in maintaining our freedom against the state. In an exclusive interview, Blackwell also talked about the Tea Party movement, black Americans and the political parties, and what is likely to happen in the upcoming elections–and after.

On the strength of a major donation from a local organization, Tea Party Alliance President, Shad Olson, announces today prices for remaining tickets to the Glenn Beck rally in Rapid City have been lowered. While Olson would not specify the amount given to support the rally, he says the significant showing of generosity from South Dakota Campaign for Liberty allowed an across the board cut in ticket prices.

With the 2010 election nearly upon us, it is critically important that we know exactly where the candidates stand on the issues. The American Family Association (AFA) has put together a scorecard for both the U.S. House and Senate on legislation that is important to pro-family voters. This is how they scored the votes of Rep. Stephanie Herseth Sandlin on 18 votes: a low score of 16%, with only three issues matching the position of AFA.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel is finally willing to acknowledge the elephant in the room of most Western nations: this “multiculturalism” nonsense doesn’t work. Like too many nations in the West, including the United States, Germany gave into the Leftist psychobabble that claimed people from different and often greatly divergent cultures could live together in the same country in an effective, peaceful manner.

There seems no end to the nefarious intentions and egregious actions coming out of Washington, no end to the bad news about what these guys are up to. Immigration cases are being dismissed by the hundreds across the country. These illegals are being groomed to be a permanent Democrat underclass voting bloc.

“Karen in the Northeast” called the Rush Limbaugh show today and said she is a teacher in the same school her son attends. Her son’s teacher gave students an assignment to write an essay on how to help President Barack Obama advance his agenda. If I were that student, rather than openly contest the contention that a student should help President Obama turn the United States into a third-rate socialist nation as he clearly intends, I would outline in clear detail the best avenue by which Obama might actually achieve this.

Congresswoman Stephanie Herseth Sandlin went on record over the weekend defending her food-for-votes scheme. In a KTIV interview on Friday, Herseth Sandlin calls her actions legal and accuses the Republican Party of trying to suppress Democratic votes, and even suggests that she conducted the feeds so voters wouldn’t have to drive 70 miles one way to vote early. Once again, she is wrong on two fronts.

A friend sent me this reminder, a blast from the past during Bruce Whalen’s 2006 campaign against Rep. Stephanie Herseth Sandlin (D-SD). In this ad, we are reminded, in Herseth Sandlin’s own words, how embarrassed she is to be from a conservative state like South Dakota. We also hear how proud she is to be endorsed by pro-abortion groups like Planned Parenthood, NARAL and Emily’s List.

It’s just a couple of days until the Family Heritage Alliance “Stand” event on Tuesday October 19. Ken Blackwell will be the keynote speaker. Blackwell is the former Treasurer and Secretary of State from Ohio. He also came very close to winning out as chairman of the RNC last year, narrowly losing to Michael Steele.

If the American people are to roll back socialist advances, the victories in the House and Senate must be complete. The surrender that was signed in August of 1945 would not have been signed for months or years later unless the twin horrors of Hiroshima and Nagasaki hadn’t convinced even the Japanese Army who was still winning their war in China that all was lost. Likewise, we who desire a return to limited government must take total control of Congress.

The General Election Day, Nov. 2, is less than three weeks away. Voting that day, or ahead of that date if you want to, is one of the traits of being a good citizen. However, that isn’t the only sign. Knowing about our nation’s history and about our federal government are a couple more indications of being a good citizen.

S.3081, the Enemy Belligerent Interrogation, Detention, and Prosecution Act of 2010, is proposed by Senator John McCain and co-sponsored by eight others, including his good friend, John Thune. Under this law as currently written, any U. S. citizen who is a war protester, publicly exhibits anti-government sentiments, is a Tea Party activist, or a political opponent of a given Administration could fall (or be made to fall) under one or more of its ill-defined and ambiguous conditions.
