Loving Your Neighbor ( Beyond Theory)
I think—given the many critical responses to my series on Islam—that we easily embrace the love of neighbor in theory but struggle when it comes to actual practice, especially when that “neighbor” represents a social, cultural, or political offense. What I have heard repeatedly is concession to the biblical admonitions to love our neighbor followed by “but…” when it comes to Muslims. This is a conditional love that struggles to separate the abhorrent ideology of radicalized Islam from Muslim people.
Muslims Behaving Badly
Despite the role that Christianity has played in the character and formation of the United States – despite it’s status as the majority religion in America and one of the three great world religions – I don’t recall a single instance where a President and a Secretary of State and a general intervened on behalf of Christians with a plea for respect and restraint directed toward provocateurs who denigrated their faith. An offense against Islam, however, is a different story.
Realism, not ideology, drives Tea Partiers
Tea Party activism is about having the courage to honestly look at the facts and act accordingly and responsibly. It’s about appreciating, from experience, how politicians, when left unchecked, have abused, abuse, and will abuse us citizen/taxpayers, while impoverishing our great nation, and about re-opening the operating manual and getting things back on track.
Bills Should Cite Constitutional Authority
U.S. House Republicans are celebrating Constitution Day by calling for all bills introduced in congress to cite the constitutional authority for those actions. Article 1 Section 8 of the U.S. Constitution outlines the few enumerated powers of the federal government, and neither health care programs or charity programs are found there. We’ve allowed these socialist usurpers to do whatever they want and trash the Constitution for too long.
American Women: Fire from the Heartland
The first-ever film to tell the entire story of the conservative woman in her own words, “Fire from the Heartland” is a powerful statement about America at a crossroads and the women who have awakened to the crisis. With role models such as Clare Boothe Luce, Margaret Thatcher, and Phyllis Schlafly as inspiration, these women are the unintended consequence of the liberal feminist movement.
Constitution Day: The Bill of Rights
On Constitution day 2010, it’s ironic that the part of the Constitution that Americans are most familiar with is the Bill of Rights along with the rest of the amendments to the original Constitution. So important is the Bill of Rights, that without them, the Constitution would not have been ratified by the states.
Tea Party: In For the Long Haul…And Winning
The Tea Party movement has surprised everyone (and terrified the Left) but proving to NOT be the flash in the pan they expected (hoped, prayed?) in early 2009. We’ll finish the job (for now) in 2010. And we’ll be back in 2012 to remove the Socialist-in-Chief from the White House, along with a fresh crop of representatives and senators. And we’ll be back yet again in 2014 for any remaining socialist senators and congressmen. We mean to restore the American legacy of freedom and limited government in the United States. Deal with it.
The Pain of September 11 Remains Fresh
As horrifying and shocking as the actual day that our country was attacked on September 11, 2001, was — this year seemed just as painful to many of us. As we wiped away our tears, and felt the ache in our hearts, we realized that our nation has been betrayed by a president who purposely ignores the will of the people while he undermines our nation’s security.
Tea Party Spreads to Australia
More bad news for socialists here in the United States and worldwide: the Tea Party movement has spread to yet another country. A few months ago, Tea Party enthusiasm for limited government and fiscal responsibility spread to the shores of the country that inspired the first Tea Party: England. Now Australians have caught the fire of liberty and have their own Tea Party movement engaged for good government.
Science Czar Still Eager to De-develop the US
If you’ve been awake and alert over the past year and a half, you might be aware that President Barack Obama has a radical nutcase for a “science” advisor, and his name is John P. Holdren. He was recently asked about his plan to de-develop the United States. It should motivate every American to work hard to elect conservative, patriotic candidates this November.
Obama Administration Targets Fishing
The Obama Administration seems to seek out extremists to appoint to positions of power in the federal government. The latest outrage is Scott Doney, who has been appointed to the post of Chief Scientist at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). Doney has an environmental agenda that will significantly impact fishing, farming and energy industries.
Government Power: Article III of the U.S. Constitution
While many people pay less attention to the Supreme Court than the other two branches of the federal government, the power that lies in the Court is no small matter. The Founders vision that a Supreme Court could be the last hope to stop an overbearing legislature or executive branch is as true today as it was in 1789.
America’s Great Unbridgeable Divide
For quite a while now, I have been thinking that the United States is in much bigger trouble than many people even imagine. There is a spiritual and ideological divide in our country that cannot be bridged. And since Barack Obama invaded the White House, that divide has grown even wider and has firmly cemented itself in the heart of America.
Tea Party Alliance Celebrates Constitution Week
The South Dakota Tea Party Alliance is meeting on tonight, September 16, at 6:30 pm at Comfort Suites on I-90 and Elk Vale Road to celebrate Constitution Week. As we enter Constitution Week, celebrating the signing of the United States Constitution on September 17, 1787, the evening’s special guest speaker will be Dr. Kermit Staggers.
GOP Getting Its Mind Right?
The Republican voters spoke pretty darn loudly in Delaware last night: we’re sick and tired of your pseduo-liberal RINO crap, and we we’re so sick of it, we’ll support a conservative candidate even if she does have some rough edges. After an evening of sour grapes from the GOP establishment, the tune is different today with the NRSC sending a $42,000 check to Tea Party favorite Christine O’Donnell.
Government Power: Article I of the U.S. Constitution
By design, the Founders made the legislative branch weak in the sense that there is no one person holding all of the power. The legislative branch was given direct authority over several tasks. The Founders did this so that Congress and the people would know the limits of its powers. They broke Article 1 into 10 sections that explicitly grant Congress all of its authority.
Question for SD Dist. 32 Independent Mathew Murray
From what I’m reading over at the Decorum Forum, after convicted felon and drug dealer Bob Newland’s Sept. 24 rally in favor of legalizing marijuana in South Dakota for “medicinal” reasons, his group plans to do a post-rally meet-and-greet with Dist. 32 Independent House candidate Mathew Murray. The voters of Dist. 32 would probably be very interested in knowing either way whether Mr. Murray supports Mr. Newland’s marijuana legalization initiative.
Herseth Sandlin Targeted by Tea Party Website
A new Tea Party website called ElectionDayTeaParty.com which intends to help conservatives get control of the U.S. House of Representatives from the socialists. One of top 50 winnable races identified is South Dakota’s State Rep. Kristi Noem’s challenge to socialist Democrat U.S. Rep. Stephanie Herseth Sandlin for the state’s lone House seat.
Magician Herseth Sandlin’s Bait and Switch
I see Rep. Stephanie Herseth Sandlin (D-SD) is still running like a scalded dog from her liberal record. She pretends to be some kind of conservative in this commerical, and claims Kristi Noem is trying to pull a magic trick about Herseth Sandlin’s liberal record, but it’s Herseth Sandlin who’s trying to pull the wool over the eyes of South Dakotans with a bait and switch.
LaRouche Squad Identified, Ejected From Tea Party
Remember how the Left is desperate to find any material for their charge of racism against the Tea Party movement–no matter how infinitesimal, misconstrued, out of context, contrived or manufactured? The Lyndon LaRouche gang infiltrated the 9/12 Washington D.C. Tea Party last weekend, but they were caught and asked to leave.
