The field for South Dakota Legislative District 32 is getting pretty crowded. We already had Republicans Brian Gosch and Kristen Conzet, as well as Independent Jeanette Deurloo.
Deurloo is a longtime Republican who has worked for years in the Pennington County GOP, but she had some problems with her petitions during the primary, missed the deadline and decided to run as an Independent who will continue to uphold Republican values.
In fact, Deurloo would almost certainly uphold Republican values better than Governor Mike Rounds-appointed Kristen Conzet who, while she has some good votes to her credit, has turned out to be somewhat of a RINO in some areas, including voting to kill a proposed amendment to the South Dakota Constitution which would have protected South Dakotans from ObamaCare or other government health care bills like it.
Now the Rapid City Journal reports Independent candidate Mathew Murray has announced he is running for one of the two available Dist. 32 House seats. The article doesn’t tell us much about his politics. It just says he served in the Air Force for 8 years, has lived in Rapid City since 1998, has worked at Sky Ranch for Boys and is attending Black Hills State University.
It’ll be interesting to see if he is a liberal independent or a conservative independent.
