For some time now, Citizens for Liberty has been working with a number of folks around the Black Hills to organize a large rally with a national speaker in the Hills. Originally, there were hopes of doing so during the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally, an event which would celebrate the great freedoms we enjoy in America, primarily the one which helps preserve all the rest: the Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms.
Several famous personalities in patriotic, conservative circles were considered and looked into, and the time frame has moved away from the Motorcycle Rally to between mid-September and mid-October, and one has confirmed his interest in coming: Glenn Beck. The Rapid City Journal is also reporting on the planned event.
Glenn Beck, the man who has been exciting America–especially for the last year and a half of liberal control in Washington D.C.–has expressed his interest in coming to the Black Hills to headline a huge freedom event. There are patriotic Tea Party and 912 Project people not only in the Black Hills and throughout South Dakota, but from surrounding states who are hearing about these plans and getting excited.
There remain many details yet to be set in stone, but Citizens for Liberty is hard at work on them and has formed volunteer committees to plan, publicize and raise the considerable funds necessary to make this event happen.
“People are already volunteering and emailing us to ask what they can do to help,” said CFL President Barb Lindberg.
Those who want to help organize the event, help fund raise, and/or volunteer to help at the event can email Citizens for Liberty from their website. There will be a volunteer meeting the evening of Thursday, July 15 at 6:30 pm at the Ramkota Best Western in the Legion I room. Many volunteers will be needed for a variety of tasks, and everyone can do something, even if they don’t have previous event-organizing experience.
As studies have found, Tea Party and like-minded people are among the most patriotic in the nation, as well as highly educated on American history and the U.S. Constitution. Glenn Beck has made it his top priority to rediscover and restore public knowledge of America’s founding principles and heritage, making him a great fit for an event such as this.
