South Dakota Primary: On Balance, a Good Night
With numbers close to wrapping up in South Dakota, there were some disappointing losses, some sweet victories, and on balance a pretty good night. The best gubernatorial candidate did not triumph, but one that we can live with did, and will definitely be better than the Democrat alternative. There were some good wins for Rapid City Council and School board, as well as a sweet victory over slime in one legislative race.
Liberal Drunk on Koolaid Expects Tea Party Support
Every now and then you see one of those headlines that just makes you raise an eyebrow in disbelief. This one at the Argus Leader this morning was such a headline: “Democrat Stephanie Herseth Sandlin says ire of tea party might benefit her.” As always with liberals, I have to ask myself: are they really that stupid…or do they think we’re that stupid?
Report: Daugaard, Knudson Took Thousands From Embryonic Stem Cell Research Proponent
Newly released data from this year’s campaign contribution reports shows GOP Gubernatorial candidates Dennis Daugaard and Dave Knudson each received thousands of dollars from a political action committee funded by T. Denny Sanford, a well-known supporter of stem cell research. Between 2008 and 2009, Republican State Senator, Dave Knudson received $70,000 from Sanford’s ‘GPS’ Pac, while Daugaard received $10,000 in 2008.
Focusing on Dave Knudson’s Liberal Record
Readers were stunned recently (sarcasm alert, sarcasm alert!) when the “objective” Rapid City Journal endorsed Dave Knudson in the South Dakota gubernatorial primary. But he is no “moderate,” and he definitely is no conservative. And this article today brings his Leftist record back into clear focus.
Elizabeth Kraus Sets the Record Straight
Elizabeth Kraus, Republican candidate for South Dakota Legislative District 33 Senate, has set the record straight on J.P. Duniphan’s reverse slime ads. As the election mailers clearly said themselves, they were not from Kraus but were from third party organizations. The voters of Dist. 33 don’t need a RINO back in office representing them, nor do they need a sliming, whining representative either.
PAC Money: Abuse or Agenda Predictor?
Over the weekend came the almost obligatory hand-wringing over money in South Dakota elections. Well, as you can pretty much tell who those in the “mainstream” media are rooting for by who they sex up and those they tear down, the money trail can also give you a good idea how a candidate may legislate or govern once they’re in office. And some big money is coming from a big philanthropist to bankroll a couple of the most liberal gubernatorial candidates in South Dakota.
Incumbent Dems Hide from Voters
Remember the fury faced by liberals last summer when they went home to Americans angry over plans to “cap and tax” them and force socialized health care on them? It seems they are even less willing to face the taxpayers this year than they were last year when some were checking IDs at town hall meetings.
Surprise Poll Results: Obama Oil Response Worse Than Bush Katrina Response
Considering the (a) all-out media hysteria over Katrina and the blitz of condemnation of President Bush by liberal politicians and members of the “mainstream” media, and (b) the interference and cover the “mainstream” media has run for President Obama over the BP oil spill…the results of this poll are nothing short of amazing.
General warns of Iranian/Hezbollah preparations for attack on Israel
Meanwhile the Obama administration continues to party and campaign disengaged and uninterested. Or worse, is he is complacent to these developments. One wonders if Israel will have to face this threat alone. Those familiar with prophesies of Daniel and Revelations are not surprised, we’ve seen this coming for some time. We also know that righteousness will ultimately prevail.
Helen Thomas, Take a Hike!
In the wake of the deadly raid on the flotilla of so-called “humanitarian aid” ships from Turkey that challenged Isreal’s blockade of Gaza, Senior White House correspondent and writer for the Hearst Corporation, Helen Thomas said the Jewish people should leave Israel and go back to German and Poland…where they were nearly exterminated.
Dakota Voice Week in Review, Ending Jun 5, 2010
The best of the best from Dakota Voice last week, including: Memorial Day Remembrance, Gov. Christie: Unions vs. Education; The Census Sting: Tax Dollars at Play; Howie Announces Gubernatorial Running Mate; Montana Medical Marijuana Not Working Out Too Well; Pelosi: Putting Jesus in Public Policy;Liberals Mounting Fresh Assault on Free Speech; Freedom’s Not Free; and more!
Institutional Emphasis: Trusting in Man Rather Than God
The establishment of human resource departments reflected the adoption of a more quantitative rather than qualitative approach to workforce management. While scientific management has both its defenders and critics, one negative result has been the dehumanizing tendency to reduce the value of individuals to mere commodities like office machines. This is where the Christian must pause and reflect on the nature of man and the virtue of work.
Duniphan Slings the Slime in Dist. 33
J.P. Duniphan is eager to regain power in the South Dakota Legislature from Dist. 33. It appears she is so desperate, she is willing to accuse her opponent of sending a mailer that exposes Duniphan’s liberal record…when the mailer clearly states it was sent by Citizens for Liberty. Duniphan also accused Kraus of sending mailers that were clearly marked from other organizations as well.
Hiking Around Wrinkled Rock
I went hiking with my children today behind Mount Rushmore near an area known as Wrinkled Rock. It’s a place not only good for hiking but rock climbing, too. We saw several rock climbers and I have a picture or two of some of them. You wouldn’t catch me doing that stuff…though my intrepid daughter [...]
We Con the World
You knew it had to come. Here we have another great hit by the some of the UN’s favorite anti-semitic artists: “We Con the World,” to that old favorite of high school graduations everywhere “We Are the World.” Ah, the spirit of peace displayed by these bloodthirsty terrorists is awe-inspiring, isn’t it?
Going Out Of Business?
America is approaching a financial breaking point. Government continues to balloon in size, taxes are poised to increase in any one of a dozen ways, and bailed-out companies are doing business as usual. The American people and their government must change their way of doing business. If we don’t, we will soon be out of business.
Gov. Christie: Unions vs. Education
New Jersey Governor Chris Christie is once again making waves by speaking out against those who think the taxpayer’s pockets are bottomless. This time he takes on the teacher’s union, which he says is about the accumulation and exercise of raw power.” Christie says they are “the schoolyard bully”, but that if they hit the taxpayers, he’s going to hit them back.
