Let me tell you about 56 men who risked everything—their fortunes and their lives—to take a stand for truth. These men laid everything on the line, pledged it all—”our Lives, our Fortunes, and our sacred Honor”—because they believed in a radical idea: that all people are created to be free. They believed that freedom is a spiritual concept in that the rights we possess are, in their words, given to us by the Creator.

Now there is a second source claiming Israel is gearing up for a strike on Iranian nuclear facilities. The Pakistan Daily Mail reports Israel is massing warplanes in Azerbaijan and Georgia in preparation for a strike on Iranian nuclear facilities.

Senator Chuck Grassley (R-IA) isn’t always the best screwdriver in the toolkit, but he asked a very important–a very foundational–question in the hearings for President Obama’s Supreme Court nominee Elena Kagan: Do you believe that the Second Amendment codified a pre-existing right, or was it a right created by the Constitution?

This is called called “I Am America” and you get get it iTunes. It has the kind of attitude that is going to take our country back from the rocks of socialism and selfishness and on course with the principles that made America the greatest nation on earth.

The recent U.S. Supreme Court decision on Christian Legal Society v. Martinez released Monday can be a bit difficult to follow at times because the denial of religious liberty here seems to hinge on a somewhat absurd technicality–one that involves allowing people to join idea-based groups who are opposed to the ideas the group stands for. While we would not expect a Jewish group to admit Nazi skinheads, or a black group to admit Klan members, somehow a Christian group is supposed to admit those who oppose Christian beliefs?

If this doesn’t give you a sinking feeling to watch this and consider that this woman will likely sit on our nation’s highest court…nothing will. When Senator Tom Coburn asked Elena Kagan if the federal government has the authority to tell Americans what to eat, she dodged and twisted, but would not say no.

The results are in from tonight’s Rapid City Council runoff election and the Business Improvement District (BID) vote. From what I saw a little while ago, it came out with Bonny Peterson beating Ron Sasso thing like 57-43%, Jordan Mason bested John Roberts 65-35%, and the BID passed 55-45%.

The UK Times has reported that Saudi Arabia has quietly given Israel permission to fly over their territory so Israeli jets can bomb Iranian nuclear facilities. Israel carried out a similar raid in 1981 when they bombed Iraq’s nuclear facilities, preventing Saddam Hussein from getting nuclear weapons.

President Barack Obama’s Supreme Court nominee Elena Kagan may claim she’ll give deference to the branch of our government charged with creating law, but one has to wonder. Kagan has said that Israeli Judge Aharon Barak is her hero, and Barak is one of the most activist and extreme judges on the globe.

President Barack Obama’s former pastor of 20 years Jeremiah Wright recently taught a $1,000 seminar. It was a seminar ostensibly about politics and public policy in South Africa and America, but Wright let the attendees know his disdain for “whites” and Jews. He believes white people and Jews are oppressing black people in Israel and America and controlling the flow of worldwide information.

Several weeks ago, as Glenn Beck continued his “Founders Fridays” shows, he took a look at the (largely) untold story of America’s black founding fathers. Now Beck has gone back for another round of historical information about America’s black founders, inviting back David Barton, author of “American History in Black and White” which has enjoyed brisk sales since Part 1 of America’s black founding fathers aired.

More than 60 percent of all arrestees booked into the Hennepin County jail tested positive for drug use, according to a federal study conducted over a four-month period last year. How much crime could be reduced, how many domestic assaults could be avoided, if fewer people in our society were intoxicated on one substance or another?

The state is buzzing about Ben Arndt’s last-minute decision to re-register on the afternoon of Friday, June 25, just in time to qualify as the Democratic nominee for lieutenant governor. It seems the registered Republican was required by state law to be a registered voter in the party in which he plans to run for office.

Rep. Stephanie Herseth Sandlin (D-SD) says her husband Max should be off-limits in her campaign for re-election to the U.S. House. Yet her husband has already interjected himself into her campaign, sending out a fundraising letter critical of his wife’s opponent. Sorry, you can’t have it both ways.

You seldom see and hear this kind of honesty from liberals. They’re usually busy telling us how much they love America while they attack her foundations and work to turn our country into just another mediocre socialist nation. But these guys were pretty transparent about their Marxist class envy and loathing of the American way of life.

The US Supreme Court affirmed today that Second Amendment protection of the right to keep and bear arms extends to state laws as well as federal. But with the nomination of Elena Kagan to the Supreme Court, some caution that the Second Amendment isn’t out of the woods yet.

A $33 billion war supplemental to fund ongoing operations in Iraq and Afghanistan is being held up by House Democrats who want to attach $10 billion for bankrupt states like New York and California that refuse to cut unsustainable education funding in these troubled economic times.

After the American Revolution, as congress gathered at the Constitutional Convention of 1787, little progress was made in the first several weeks of that gathering. It wasn’t until June 28, 1787 when Benjamin Franklin, one of the least religious of the founders, made the statement below, that progress was finally made which eventually resulted in the United States Constitution.

The best way to describe the book “How Evil Works” is to say that it has the same effect on your brain that yawning has on your ears at high altitude. Things just suddenly pop with crystal clarity. It answers questions such as where all the statesmen have gone and why politicians lie, why Americans are embracing atheism and the occult, why terrorists kill, and how we may yet turn around our culture.

Political and social philosophy cannot change human nature, and no matter how people wish for another reality all we have is the real one. It’s time people admit that once government acts to equalize the lives of all it must act unequally towards some.

Regular doctor visits and hospital procedures aren’t the only areas where Medicare has difficulty operating efficiently. As a recent letter indicates, other areas of health care such as optometry are just as plagued by government inefficiency as everything else.

A lot of eyes are watching South Dakota’s governor and congressional races, but we can’t forget there are contests for the other state jobs, plus issues we must vote on as well. We pretty well know who the candidates will be on the Republican side of the ballot and the last we heard the Democrats were still scrambling for their candidates.

The businesses and people who oppose the Rapid City Business Improvement District (BID) tax have a large ad out in today’s Rapid City Journal. Given the state of the economy, in addition to the parking situation downtown, it seems unwise to push this venture right now. When you throw in the heavy-handed tactics used by those promoting it, I just can’t support this idea. In the last week, while opponents were completely shut out from even attending a pro-BID information meeting, they tried to take over an anti-BID meeting where they were graciously allowed to attend.

Glenn Beck recently examined the history of unions in America. This is a great companion piece to the one on “how communism became cool in America” because the unions were heavily infiltrated by communists and today still operate with a heavily Marxist philosophy. This embrace of Marxism is bankrupting our country financially and morally.
