Well, here we are, getting close to a month since the disastrous explosion at the former site of the Deepwater Horizon oil platform, where eleven men died and close to twenty were injured. So far, the doomsday predictions of oil-drenched birds, marine life and beaches have not materialized.

For years this question of who is sovereign has see-sawed back and forth. Today the Progressives and their two headed government party seek to make the exaltation of the central government permanent. If this stands unchallenged America has devolved from the defused model established under the Constitution to a centralized version reminiscent of its original absolutist definition.

Washington’s ownership interest in Wall Street, Detroit, plus the government’s health care takeover have many observers warning of America’s plunge into socialism. A new documentary, Socialism: A Clear and Present Danger, airing nationwide Sunday May 16 and 23, looks at the tyranny, poverty, and bloodshed socialism often produces; its failure to deliver on its utopian promises; and how it violates the Bible.

Yahoo News reports some FBI documents obtained by them indicate legendary Leftist journalist Walter Cronkite encouraged Vietnam War protesters and offered to help them with logistical support for one of their protest rallies. The support is alleged to have included a helicopter to fly in a speaker for the rally.

When a reporter questioned New Jersey Governor Chris Christie on his “confrontational tone,” Christie educated the reporter on the kind of plain straight-talk most Americans prefer. There are stark differences in liberals and conservatives, and most people aren’t interested in pretending otherwise. Christie understands that.

If a senior citizen goes into a hospital, they may want to bring their own medicine. If the hospital gives them the same medicine, the senior citizen will be charged outrageously way over the cost for the same medicine from usual sources.

Though most journalists aren’t interested, these documents reveal not only the dark underbelly of communism, but the involvement and complicity of officials from Europe and the United States in working with this evil empire. Medicare goofs a lot and when it goofs, it hurts senior citizens. In some of my past articles, I have estimated that mistakes caused by federal Medicare employees and systems cost America’s senior citizens over one billion dollars per year in just Medicare Part A and Part B goofs alone.

Citizens for Liberty held their local candidate forum tonight at the Comfort Suites conference center in Rapid City tonight. The forum hosted candidates for Rapid City Council, Rapid City School Board, and the Pennington County Commission.

BP has released video of the gushing oil leak on the ocean floor at the Deepwater Horizon oil rig. As you may recall, Deepwater Horizon is the oil well in the Gulf of Mexico that exploded a few weeks ago, leaving millions of barrels of oil gushing into the Gulf, along with lots of questions about why this disaster occurred.

The nanny-state Big Brother government just keeps growing under this socialist administration and congress. In recent months, our own government has deemed us too stupid to regulate our own salt content, to turn over a food package to look at the nutrition label on the back, or manage our calorie content at restaurants. Now they think we’re so stupid we need to be warned not to eat sunscreen, and insist on knowing the BMI of our children.

Yet another poll shows overwhelming support for Arizona’s illegal immigration law. Even Democrats support Arizona’s efforts to stem the tide of illegal immigration. Meanwhile, the city of Los Angeles has voted to cut off their nose despite their face by boycotting the businesses of Arizona.

Obama and his allies in Congress who pushed for the new health care law complained that health care was being “rationed” by insurance companies. They forgot to mention that much of the “rationing” was being caused by rules and policies of the federal health care systems that already exist.

It’s hard to watch people like the guys in this video below. You feel bad for them, in a way: how can anyone be that stupid? What kind of wretched life have they gone through, to come to a point where they accept and believe this kind of dichotomous, inconsistent propaganda? But it’s good for average Americans to see living illustrations like these every now and then.

I’ve lost count how many of President Barack Obama’s nominees fawn openly over Marxism, Marxist revolutionaries, and socialist practices.The latest to come to my attention is Harvard professor Donald Berwick, Obama’s nominee for administrator of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. In this video of a 2005 speech he gave to a British audience, he gushes over what a socialist utopia the British have created with their socialized health care system.

This video is very revealing of the anti-Jewish hate (not the over-used “hate” liberals often use instead of “disagree” or “differ” or “oppose”, but actual hate) some Muslims hold. David Horowitz, a former 1960′s liberal, was speaking at the University of California San Diego during “Israel Apartheid Week.” A female Muslim student told him she agreed with Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah’s desire to get the Jews in one place in order to more efficiently annihlate them.

Abortion advocates are pretty keen on “choice” if the choice involves killing your unborn child, but in other things…not so much. For instance, when it comes to the choice of whether or not to see a film that exposes the soft, dirty underbelly of the abortion industry, or the choice of a movie theater owner to show this film, abortion activists aren’t too cool on that choice.

Citizens for Liberty will be hosting a Rapid City area local candidate forum on Thursday May 13 at 6:30 pm at Comfort Suites on Elk Vale Rd. and I-90. The forum will provide an opportunity for voters to learn about and ask questions of candidates for office in Rapid City, the Rapid City School Board, and Pennington County.

Liberals in the Obama Administration and the “mainstream” media tried to placate us with reports of the faux support of Supreme Court nominee Elena Kagan for the partial birth abortion ban in 1997, but as you might expect, the claim doesn’t really hold water. Now more evidence is surfacing that Kagan is actually more of an activist for abortion rights.

The memorial cross in the Mojave Desert which recently won a round in the Supreme Court in the fight against open expressions of Christianity has now been stolen. Religious liberty groups and veterans groups are calling for the return of the cross, and some vow to rebuild it if it is not recovered.

CNN’s Political Ticker reports a Tea Party Express leader gave the network an advance copy of a guildeline for picking Supreme Court justices. Though it sounds like CNN may be trying to manufacture some news and/or controversy with the “But differing tactics may end up putting different Tea Party groups at odds” statement, the principles outlined in the guideline look pretty good and pretty reasonable.
