Fred Phelps and his Hate Brigade of “God Hates Fags” protesters have taken to holding protests at the funerals of fallen soldiers. Courts recently struck down a lawsuit against them for privacy, forcing a grieving father to pay $16,510 in legal fees to Phelps. But veterans groups and 48 states, including South Dakota, are still fighting for decency.
President Barack Obama’s nominee for administrator of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, Donald Berwick, is infatuated with the British National Health Service. When one understands the appalling state of the NHS, is is easy to see how lots of people won’t get treated…and as America follows in European socialist footsteps, we can expect the same de facto rationing here.
Imam Faisal Abdul Rauf wants to build a mosque at Ground Zero in Manhattan where the World Trade Center towers were destroyed by Islamic terrorists less than 10 years ago, claiming (in English) he wants to foster “religious dialog.” When he talks in Arabic to his Islamic brothers, he says something quite different.
Unfortunately, progressive pastors are not interested in being about their Father’s business of saving souls for Christ’s sake. They appear to have their feet firmly planted in the here and now. They are very content to let big government dole out “social justice” (and in some parts of the world, are even willing to let government provide a greenhouse to worship in, complete with solar panels and all). Someday, they will find that their chickens have come home to roost.
The federal government and States can help to protect senior citizens from bad insurance company practices by making laws that cancel the bad practices. The time for an insurance company to investigate a person’s health history is before a policy is issued – not up to two years after the policy was issued, insurance premiums were paid, and the senior citizen is relying on the insurance policy.
