Freedom’s Not Free

One more Memorial Day tribute to close the day. This one was too good to pass by. It’s by the Rivoli Review, and reminds us what Memorial Day is really about.

Memorial to Freedom at Mount Rushmore

Memorial to Freedom at Mount Rushmore

Part of the Memorial Day activities for my family today was going up to Mount Rushmore. We are blessed to live only 25 minutes away from the “Shrine of Democracy,” and I try to get up there as often as possible. It’s also a great opportunity to review America’s rich heritage with my children as we see the faces of these great men carved into a mountain. These photos were taken from angles and locations less commonly seen.

The Honor Due the Dead…and The Shame of We, the Living

The Honor Due the Dead…and The Shame of We, the Living

How is it you think solemn ceremonies or rites honor us, or our sacrifice, when you have abandoned the freedoms and principles for which we died, and given them into the hands of bureaucrats and professional politicians? If you want to truly honor us, then restore this nation to its Founding principles, put God back in His rightful place, as the center of it all, and make some effort to protect those precious freedoms, whether from foreign foes or domestic demagogues.

A Tribute to United States Marines

A Tribute to United States Marines

I had the honor several times over my 10 years of service in the U.S. Air Force to work alongside several United States Marines, and they are some incredible people. They hold a discipline and commitment that is second to none. They are always in the thickest, nastiest fighting on the ground, and are usually doing it with less material support than most other branches of the service…and I thank God for them.

Yearning for Peace

Yearning for Peace

This Memorial Day we remember those brave men and women who gave their lives in defense of our most precious freedoms. And we would do well to pray for the members of our armed forces who are placing their lives on the line even as I speak. They long to accomplish their mission and return home to their loved ones. Above all, they yearn for peace.

Remembering the Fallen

The freedom we enjoy here in America isn’t a cheap thing. It isn’t something we stumbled into by accident. It isn’t something we manage to keep just because no one tries to take it away from us. It is something bought and maintained by the blood of heroes and patriots throughout generations.

The Price of Freedom is Eternal Vigilance

As we celebrate and express our appreciation for the generations of sacrifice from our men and women in uniform, consider this from Americans for Limited Government. It is a tribute to that courage and dedication which has kept us free for 234 years…and a caution that we not lose all we have held so dear.

Memorial Day Remembrance

Memorial Day Remembrance

This Memorial Day I encourage us all to pay homage to those who have given all they have for the unmerited benefit of so many. To give honor to whom honor is due. In the same way we also remember the One who gave of himself for the unmerited benefit of so many.

America’s Black Founding Fathers

America's Black Founding Fathers

Glenn Beck has been looking at the founders of American on “Founders Friday.” This week, he and some historians looked at black Americans who were present at the founding of America and had important roles in our country’s independence. Though we may not have been aware of them, even many paintings of the American Revolution show this forgotten history…which undermines the liberal revisionist narrative.

Are the Rich Not Paying Their Fair Share of Taxes?

Are the Rich Not Paying Their Fair Share of Taxes?

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton recently said those evil rich people (you know, the ones who buy the products produced at the jobs held by average Americans; the ones who start and maintain businesses that create those products and hire the average Americans who collect a paycheck to make those products; the ones who stick their neck out and risk their capital to create those jobs held by average Americans; the ones who usually work 60, 80 or more hours a week to make that business productive…those rich people).

South Dakota Joins Fight Against Felps Group

South Dakota Joins Fight Against Felps Group

Fred Phelps and his Hate Brigade of “God Hates Fags” protesters have taken to holding protests at the funerals of fallen soldiers. Courts recently struck down a lawsuit against them for privacy, forcing a grieving father to pay $16,510 in legal fees to Phelps. But veterans groups and 48 states, including South Dakota, are still fighting for decency.

Mists Clearing from Death Panel Reality

Mists Clearing from Death Panel Reality

President Barack Obama’s nominee for administrator of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, Donald Berwick, is infatuated with the British National Health Service. When one understands the appalling state of the NHS, is is easy to see how lots of people won’t get treated…and as America follows in European socialist footsteps, we can expect the same de facto rationing here.

Ground Zero Mosque Founder Talking Out of Both Sides of Mouth

Ground Zero Mosque Founder Talking Out of Both Sides of Mouth

Imam Faisal Abdul Rauf wants to build a mosque at Ground Zero in Manhattan where the World Trade Center towers were destroyed by Islamic terrorists less than 10 years ago, claiming (in English) he wants to foster “religious dialog.” When he talks in Arabic to his Islamic brothers, he says something quite different.

Social Justice Chickens Coming Home to Roost

Social Justice Chickens Coming Home to Roost

Unfortunately, progressive pastors are not interested in being about their Father’s business of saving souls for Christ’s sake. They appear to have their feet firmly planted in the here and now. They are very content to let big government dole out “social justice” (and in some parts of the world, are even willing to let government provide a greenhouse to worship in, complete with solar panels and all). Someday, they will find that their chickens have come home to roost.

SOS: Speaking of Seniors – Time for a Smarter Policy

SOS: Speaking of Seniors - Time for a Smarter Policy

The federal government and States can help to protect senior citizens from bad insurance company practices by making laws that cancel the bad practices. The time for an insurance company to investigate a person’s health history is before a policy is issued – not up to two years after the policy was issued, insurance premiums were paid, and the senior citizen is relying on the insurance policy.

Obama’s Counterterrorism Advisor: Jihad a Legitimate Tenet of Islam

Obama's Counterterrorism Advisor: Jihad a Legitimate Tenet of Islam

How safe can the American people be when one of the key people entrusted to defend us from threats is himself utterly blind to those threats? John Brennan, President Barack Obama’s top counterterrorism adviser, described violent extremists as victims of “political, economic and social forces” and said Islamic terrorists and their acts in the name of Allah should not be described in “religious terms.”

Judge Chatigny: Nominating Evil to a Higher Bench

Judge Chatigny: Nominating Evil to a Higher Bench

President Barack Obama has nominated District Judge Robert Chatigny to the 2nd Circuit Court of Appeals. Like almost all of President Obama’s nominees for the judiciary, and pretty much every appointed level of government, this man is morally bankrupt. He once bullied an attorney, attempting to force the attorney to work harder to keep a convicted and admitted rapist and serial killer alive.

Governor Chris Christie: Taking No Crap

Governor Chris Christie: Taking No Crap

New Jersey Governor Chris Christie knocks this out of the park in this video when he explains simple hard economic realities to a school teacher and a library enthusiast. If this guy holds the line another few years, he may be a hot ticket for president before long. America badly needs this kind of “take no crap, tell it like it is” approach in a politician.

Poll: 3-1 Say Military Should Decide Don’t Ask Don’t Tell

Poll: 3-1 Say Military Should Decide Don't Ask Don't Tell

While the chiefs of all branches of the military oppose rushing ahead with the repeal of Don’t Ask Don’t Tell, a large majority of Americans would rather have military leaders make that decision over congress. And a new analysis finds that homosexuals in the military are about three times more likely to commit sexual assault than are their heterosexual counterparts.

The Right to Sexual Autonomy

The Right to Sexual Autonomy

Did you know you have the human right to uninhibited sex? Well, most people would look at you strangely if you said that, but Planned Parenthood thinks you do, and thinks everyone should accept and celebrate whatever sexual perversion you can dream up and practice. They’ve even drafted a 36-page declaration to that effect.

Mosque Near Ground Zero: Outrage Against America

Mosque Near Ground Zero: Outrage Against America

By now you’ve heard of the plans by a group of Muslims to build a 13 to 15-story mosque and Muslim “cultural” center just two blocks north of Ground Zero in Manhattan. The leader of the project to build the mammoth mosque is Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf who blamed the United States for 9-11 because of our treatment of Muslims.

Bye Bye, Employer Health Insurance

Bye Bye, Employer Health Insurance

We knew long before the unconstitutional socialist health care scheme actually passed that the bill would actually make things worse–far worse–and employers would have considerable incentive to stop covering their employees. Now the numbers run by major employers are showing up, and they can save a lot of money by paying government fines and allowing their employees to fall into the government health care system.

Ending Anti-American Studies in Arizona

Ending Anti-American Studies in Arizona

Not content to merely enforce the immigration law the federal government refuses to enforce, Arizona seems to be on a full-fledged campaign to cleanse their state of liberal nonsense. Governor Jan Brewer recently signed a new law that would prohibit educational courses that promote racial resentment and division. You may be surprised by this look into what young Americans are being taught.

South Dakota’s Global Warming Resolution

South Dakota's Global Warming Resolution

South Dakota now has a resolution on the books calling for much-needed balance in the classroom regarding the climate change debate. Anthropogenic global warming enthusiasts have been caught in deception after deception, yet the information establishment continues to pretend their claims are untainted.
