The Second Annual Tax Day Tea Party is coming up on Thursday April 15. Citizens for Liberty here in Rapid City will be joining hundreds if not thousands of communities around the United States on Tax Day to hold our second patriotic protest against big taxes and big government, and for limited, constitutional government.

Last week I wrote how Israel’s neglect of the poor was a central offense against God that led to their Babylonian exile and that we, too, have neglected those in need in our own times. This neglect, I argued, has led to increased government intervention. However, we need to go further by asking, “Who are the poor among us?”

The first three of God’s ordained feasts given in Leviticus 23 to the Israelites almost 1500 years earlier were played out explicitly and precisely in the events of Holy Week. The prophetic nature of these “appointed times” is clear. Jesus’ triumphant arrival in Jerusalem, Passover meal, death as a Passover sacrificial lamb, burial and resurrection all occurred at the “appointed times” just as God had foretold through His prophets. Rejoice!

During this Easter season, we do well to confront the claims of Jesus Christ. We should run with Peter and John to the tomb to see if it is really empty. If it is not, then we should grab all the gusto we can in order to anesthetize us from hopelessness and despair. If it is, we can sing “Alleluia!” for the curse has been broken, death has been defeated, and life eternal is available to those who believe.

Now that the unconstitutional health care bill has passed, we’re starting to find out about all those nasty freedom-robbing, property-confiscating things that were tucked away in it. Like this one which automatically withdraws money automatically from your paycheck before you see it for long-term health care.

Some people–sadly even in our own country–like to deride and moan about how evil America is and all the imagined bad things we do around the world. A friend sent me this today, and I think it exemplifies as best as anything I’ve ever seen the difference between what American typically does, and what those we fight typically do.

Well, U.S. District Judge Charles Clevert has come to your aid, finding a “right” for men and women who are confused about their sex to use your tax dollars while in prison for committing crimes for hormone therapy.

The Christian Institute has voiced concern after a street preacher was handed a fine of more than $1,500 for saying homosexuality was a sin. U.S. evangelist Shawn Holes, 47, was preaching in Glasgow, Scotland, on March 18 when he was arrested and detained overnight in a police cell. Police later charged him with breaching the peace and told him to pay the fine on the grounds that his remarks were “homophobic” and had been “aggravated by religious prejudice.”
