Israel is the best ally the United States has in the Middle East.  Israel is one of the few democracies in that area, and is undoubtedly the most stable one despite the multiple unrelenting attacks that come upon that country from within and without.

Yet yesterday President Barack Obama treated visiting Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin “Bibi” Netanyahu like, well, like Netanyahu was some belligerent dirtbag terrorist.

From Fox News:

For a head of state to visit the White House and not pose for photographers is rare. For a key ally to be left to his own devices while the president withdraws to have dinner in private was, until this week, unheard of.

Yet that is how Benjamin Netanyahu was treated by President Obama on Tuesday night, according to Israeli reports on a trip seen in Jerusalem tonight as a disastrous humiliation.

After failing to extract a written promise of concessions on Jewish settlements, Obama walked out of his meeting with Netanyahu but invited him to stay at the White House, consult with advisers and “let me know if there is anything new,” a congressman who spoke to the prime minister said today.

“It was awful,” the congressman said. One Israeli newspaper called the meeting “a hazing in stages,”poisoned by such mistrust that the Israeli delegation eventually left rather than risk being eavesdropped on a White House phone line. Another said that the prime minister had received “the treatment reserved for the President of Equatorial Guinea.”

The nation of Israel has been under intense fire literally since the day the nation was reborn on May 14, 1948.  Egypt, Syria, Jordan, Lebanon and Iraq immediately launched an attack on the fledgling Jewish state, along with support from Yemen, Saudi Arabia and Sudan.  The tiny nation managed to defeat this attack and has defeated every military and terrorist attack since then.

Even today, Israel continues to live under the constant threat of terrorist attack and mortar attacks from their immediate neighbors.  If anyone truly knows what Americans felt on 911, it is the Israelis.

Some suspect the boorish treatment was designed to weaken Netanyahu at home, to force him to make more concessions to the terrorists and nations who desperately want to see Israel annihilated.

In case it escaped our president, weakening Netanyahu is a very dangerous proposition. His nation is depending on his strength to help keep them safe from terrorist attacks within and from military attacks without.  Israel has already made too many concessions to terrorists in desperate attempts to “purchase peace”…only to see attacks renew again soon. Israel needs to defeat terrorism, not try to live with it.  And America should be helping them, not trying to trip them up at every opportunity.

It is shameful for an American president to so insult and belittle the leader of a fellow democracy, a strong ally of the United States.  The fact that Netanyahu is a world-class leader of great wisdom and determination makes the treatment even more egregious.

Sadly, though, what can we expect of a president who chums around with Marxist thugs; bows to foreign dictators; hires virulent racists and admitted communists, Marxists and other anti-Americans in his administration; views terrorists as “misunderstood persons;” allows a Marxist domestic terrorist to launch his political career; praises Islamic terrorists; hangs with Islamic extremists; and has terrorists praying for him?

With friends and associates like this, some hatred of Jews and Israel just has to rub off.

Perhaps if Obama would start hanging around with some people who love freedom more and totalitarianism less, he might develop more appreciation for our good friend Israel…and maybe even more appreciation for his own country.

  1. Are you kidding. The Israeli prime minister deserved a lot worse. American administration after American administration have lost credibility around the world and the opportunity to influence politics in the Arab world as they supported and defended Israeli polices. And now, when we are again engaged in working to ensure Israel survival and security, we are blindsided by statements that are, as the president described “unhelpful” to the peace process, you suggest we give Mr. Netanyahu a hero's welcome. You have got to be kidding. I say his just been allowed to set foot in the WH was more than he deserved. He should have been kept away until his government made substantial steps toward a solution to the Palestinian questions and demonstrate a willingness to match America's effort in resolving THEIR problems.

  2. This article is so unreal. Why cannot people in American think of American interest first. The Israelis always do that. Please be clear that United States & Israel are two seperate independent countries.Yes Israel gets massive annual aid from U.S, Yes Israel insults American vice president,Yes Israel insults neghbours like Turkey ,Steals passports ,of U.K,Australia etc, breaks every International law in the world. But America still provides blind support. But as General Petreaus recently implied that Israel is longer a strategic asset, it is fast becoming a strategic liability…..FOR United States.

  3. Exactly what we might expect from a president who clearly hates America and desires her destruction. Barack Hussein Obama is obliged to the Muslim enemies of Israel and America for the millions of dollars that they delivered to his campaign. It doesn't matter what Israel does. Obama, just like the Palestinian Arabs, cannot allow for even an instant that Israel has any rights as a nation. Israel is the only free democracy in the middle-east and if Israel were to fall the entire region would descend into utter chaos.

“I will make you into a great nation and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you.” (Genesis 12:2-3)

” ‘The land must not be sold permanently, because the land is mine and you are but aliens and my tenants. Throughout the country that you hold as a possession, you must provide for the redemption of the land. (Leviticus 25:23-24)

All of this was foretold in the Bible and we see it played out once again, perhaps for the final time.

  4. Well said Dr. Theo.

  5. If you sympathize with terrorism, thuggish behavior and attacks on peaceful republics, your position makes perfect sense.

  6. You are right, Chengez. How dare Israel insult those who perpetrate and condone terrorist attacks on innocent Israeli civilians. Hamas and the PLO are very courageous for seeking to punish Israel for such impudence.

  7. Israel wants our financial aid, our military support and our intimidating presense to help them achieve their personal goals, which are tied to the Old Testament, that says God gave them that land and that God chose them as His people. They believe that Christian Americans worship a false God in Jesus and have a false religion.

If we didn't send them them hoards of money and back them militarily, they would drop us like a hot rock. Now I do think we should do whatever we can to support them, because letting them fail would be harmful to our country's national security, but lets be honest and see things as they are.

  8. The historical veracity of the Bible aside, can you honestly claim that Palestine has not been the land of the Jews for 4000 years? Every scrap of archaeological evidence and every extra-biblical ancient account supports the Jewish claim to the land of Israel. The fact that they have been driven out by enemies numerous times does not diminish the claim.

Israel would “drop like a rock,” you say. The Egyptians tried to destroy the Israelites, the Assyrians tried, Babylonians tried, the Philistines tried, the Ammonites tried, the Canaanites tried, the Romans tried, the Muslims tried, Hitler tried, but still Israel lives on. Why, it's almost like they have some kind of Divine protection or something.

  9. dr theo

Concerning your first paragraph, ask the Arabs and all Muslims in the middle East if they agree that Palestine has been the home of the Jews for 4000 years. They would disagree and have their evidence as well.Since they are more numerous than the Jews, you would have to at least listen to them

As far as your second paragraph is concerned, the Arabs and pre-Muslims( tribes of Ishmael) were also invaded and overrun by many different people , but survived. You could say maybe Divine protection was afforded them as well. They believe it was.Isn't it all in the eye of the beholder

  10. “of a president who chums around with Marxist thugs”

    What crap! Get a life….

  11. What, you missed it when President Obama did the 'hood handshake with Chavez, and when Chavez gave Obama the gift of an America-bashing book to read? You should have clicked the link under “Marxist thugs.” Very informative.

  12. So what? This is just plain paranoia. It's hardly the same as chuming around with Marxist thugs. Only extremist neocons such as Newt Gingrich, would consider this little episode as chuming around with Chavez. I think that 8 years of George Bush has made America totally paranoid. Afterall, didn't Cheney and company once chum around with Saddam Hussein? Certainly they did . . . when it was convenient to do so.

  13. I've never understood why liberals are so threatened by values, common sense and morality…and at the same time see no threat whatsoever from terrorists, communists, and dictators around the world who have made it clear that they hate us and our nation.

Perhaps you missed the pictures and video of Obama and Chavez chumming around, doing the 'hood handshake, smiling and exchanging gifts.

“Cheney and company” once met with Hussein when he was an ally of the United States, back when he was fighting a country even worse than his own: Iran. It was also before he launched an invasion of Kuwait and seized the oil resources there.

“Cheney and company” and most rational Americans can see when someone–even a former ally–turns into a threat, including terrorists and Marxist thugs.

Somehow, the only dangers liberals see are people who love America, respect the God who gave us liberty, and cherish the American way of life as established under the U.S. Constitution.

That really should communicate an important realization about themselves to liberals, but somehow they never seem to grasp that communication.

  14. Well, yes, Hussein was an ally of America when Cheney and company met with him, but he was also a dictator who virtually ran a police state. It's a matter of opinion whether he was fighting a country (Iran) worst than his own. Ask the Kurds! So, ally or not, the fact of the matter is that Cheney and company, including his Haliburton friends, had no qualms about making Hussein a friend, despite his brutality. Yes, America has always supported dictators, when it's convenient to do so.

So, rather than crying about Obama's handshake and exchange of gifts with Chavez, Republicans should be doing something about the fringe republicans like Cheney and his daughter, who are turning the Republican Party into a comic show.

And don't talk about the U.S. Constitution, in the same breath as Bush and Cheney. I wish Americans would take off their blinders and realize how America is turning into a police state, largely because of the work of the previous administration and their use of the Homeland Security laws to circumvent personal liberty and rights. This is largely the work of conservatives, not liberals. The cherished “American way of life as established under the U.S. Constitution,” indeed! Wake up to how Bush and Cheney changed all of this – Cheney seems to have little respect for the Constitution. He also has little respect for the Vice-Presidency's, time-honoured tradition of not criticising the new administration. At least George Bush respects this Presidential tradition, and has shown dignity in this way.

Your statement that, “the only dangers liberals see are people who love America,” is ludicrous. Just like the former Bush Administration, you seem to think that if someone doesn't follow your political perspective, than that person doesn't love America. Again, ludicrous! Take your blinders off and realize that if conservatives such as yourself, don't soon wake up and check the paranoia, then you will be advocating a return to McCarthyism. We all know what that means – anything but Constitutional Rights, that's for sure.

  15. I see you lack the maturity and understanding to grasp the fact that sometimes we must work with lesser evils against greater evils, as Iran was and still is. This immaturity leads miss the significance of the fact that Obama chums with terrorists and Marxist thugs when there isn't the slightest necessity whatsoever to do so.

In fact, he has more in common with them ideologically than he does with the average American. I don't know if you've ever read his “Dreams” book, but he actually admits to having sought out Marxists and communists to associate with since his college days, and he has been exposed to Marxists from an even younger age.

Your immature delusion is further evidenced by the fact that you are totally oblivious to all these danger signs from Obama, yet you consider defending our country and fighting terrorists–within and without our borders–to be a horrible, despicable thing. It puts me distinctly in mind of Isaiah 5:20.

As for my statement that, “the only dangers liberals see are people who love America,” you have yourself once again proved it to be correct (if you don't understand this statement, please re-read paragraphs 1-3 again). One does not need to oppose my “political perspective” to fail to love America; many people disagree with my political perspective on this or that while still loving their country.

But when someone, as you have above, speaks ill of defending our country from evil while being perfectly okay with the embrace of America's enemies, when someone champions values that are in direct contradiction with American values, when someone advocates policies which are specifically prohibited by our Constitution, and when someone's favorite pastime is whining about what a terrible evil place America is, no rational person could conclude anything other than that this person does not love America.

If liberals treated their wives/husbands/boyfriends/girlfriends the way they talk about and treat America, their relationships would have ended long ago, because those wives/husbands/boyfriends/girlfriends wouldn't have put up with that crap, unless they were dysfunctional themselves.

Anyone who talked about my wife the way liberals talk about and treat America would be on the business end of my wrath in a heartbeat, and I would hope your dedication to your loved one would be the same. I love America passionately for who and what she is, and no patriotic American can less defend her from attack and slander.

  16. Well, what a bunch of bible-belt, neocon gibberish. To be mature, means to attempt to understand people, and this includes your enemies. If Bush, Cheney and company had attempted to reach out and understand people, the way Obama has in meeting Chavez, then America wouldn't be so hated in the world, today. If Chavez is a Marxist thug, then Bush is a Capitalist Pig of the worst kind. I say, the way to go, Chavez, for being independent of American influence.

As regards your statement, “the only dangers liberals see are people who love America,” well I'm just taking it in the context of your complete paragraph. You show your ignorance in assuming that you know who loves America. Shame, is all I can say…. Shame on your one-sided ignorance….

  17. The so-called Palestinians are ARABS. That is, they originated from Arabia. They are the same genetic stock as Saudis, Jordanians, Egyptians, Yemenis, etc. They came to occupy these lands through military conquests and forced conversion to Islam.

Palestine, i.e., Israel is indisputably the home of the Jews. If there is evidence of a Arab/Palestinian civilization occupying the land of Palestine I'd be interested in seeing the evidence. Some coinage. perhaps, or a lineage of kings dating back into antiquity, or great palaces and public buildings from ancient times. No, all the evidence is in favor of a vast and prosperous Jewish homeland for thousands of years.

While you are at it perhaps you can give me some examples of Arabs being driven from their homelands by anyone other than other Arabs. And I don't recall that there was ever a pogrom or holocaust that was specifically intended to utterly destroy the Ismaelites.
