New CDC Report: HIV Rate 44 Times Higher Among Homosexuals

For some time now it has been public knowledge (but not common knowledge, since the “mainstream” media is oddly silence on the staggering disease rates in the homosexual community) that Centers for Disease Control (CDC) figures show that 72% of male AIDS cases are associated with homosexual activity…while a survey commissioned by the pro-homosexual group Human Rights Campaign found that only 2.9% of the population is homosexual.  The fact that homosexuals also have much higher infection rates from most other types of STDs, as well as hepatitis, anal cancer, depression, substance abuse, suicide and more.

But yesterday I learned from Americans for Truth of a new report out from the CDC which finds new HIV cases among homosexuals is more than 44 X that of heterosexual men and more than 40 times that of women.

From the March 10, 2010 CDC press release:

A data analysis released today by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention underscores the disproportionate impact of HIV and syphilis among gay and bisexual men in the United States.

The data, presented at CDC’s 2010 National STD Prevention Conference, finds that the rate of new HIV diagnoses among men who have sex with men (MSM) is more than 44 times that of other men and more than 40 times that of women.

The range was 522-989 cases of new HIV diagnoses per 100,000 MSM vs. 12 per 100,000 other men and 13 per 100,000 women.

The rate of primary and secondary syphilis among MSM is more than 46 times that of other men and more than 71 times that of women, the analysis says. The range was 91-173 cases per 100,000 MSM vs. 2 per 100,000 other men and 1 per 100,000 women.

While CDC data have shown for several years that gay and bisexual men make up the majority of new HIV and new syphilis infections, CDC has estimated the rates of these diseases for the first time based on new estimates of the size of the U.S. population of MSM. Because disease rates account for differences in the size of populations being compared, rates provide a reliable method for assessing health disparities between populations.

“While the heavy toll of HIV and syphilis among gay and bisexual men has been long recognized, this analysis shows just how stark the health disparities are between this and other populations,” said Kevin Fenton, M.D., director of CDC’s National Center for HIV/AIDS, Viral Hepatitis, STD, and TB Prevention. “It is clear that we will not be able to stop the U.S. HIV epidemic until every affected community, along with health officials nationwide, prioritize the needs of gay and bisexual men with HIV prevention efforts.”

The statement from the CDC has the audacity to claim, “Preventing HIV and STDs among gay and bisexual men is a top CDC priority.”  If preventing any other contagious disease was “a top CDC priority,” we would see nonstop PSA commercials on TV, radio and in newspapers warning people not to eat at certain restaurants, consume certain foods, or do whatever it is that is most closely connected with the transmission of that disease.

But since homosexual activists have cowed weak-minded and morally unanchored leaders into making homosexual behavior a politically correct behavior, with an AIDS/HIV epidemic where the infection rate is 44 X higher from one activity over another, we hear…silence.  We hear the crickets chirp…even as more people become infected with this deadly disease.  These people are too afraid of peer pressure, too afraid to be seen not traveling with the herd, to send the message that this dangerous behavior should be avoided at all costs–if not for moral considerations, certainly for health reasons.

Those who have engaged in homosexual behavior and contracted AIDS have done this to themselves, and they bear the bulk of responsibility for their illness.  But those among us who are in positions of leadership and influence also bear a level of responsibility for their failure to warn about this danger.

The blood of many people is on the politically correct hands of the “mainstream” media, liberal leadership in our cities, liberal leadership in our state governments, liberal leadership in our federal government…and from liberal churches and church leadership that are more interested in being trendy than in saving people.  Their hands are crimson from their deadly silence.

  1. Indeed. There is much talk of “hate” toward homosexually-active people, but so much of the real hate comes from those who deny and suppress the truth about such activity.

I can remember hearing from a totally secular source about 15 years ago that anal intercourse was unhealthy and contrary to the body's design; that would never happen now. Experts who were listened to about homosexuality being “OK” in the past are no longer listened to now that further knowledge has led them to change their tune.

  2. Remember when HHS Secretary Sebelius chided a reporter about the proper way to sneeze in the midst of the great H1N1 epidemic of 2009? (

Can you imagine an administration official cautioning Jeff Zeleny about the dangers inherent in homosexual sex? (…)

  3. I think your argument is that since a group like the CDC has proven and released evidence how dangerous homosexual activity is, that our leaders and the media should also be much, much more vocal on this dangerous activity when communicating to the public.

If it really is about dangerous, unhealthy activities, then common sense says that a political leader would be concerned with those activities that harm Americans the most-or in other words, for the good of the public, go after those activities that cause illness or kill most of us, then work your way down to those activities that cause minimum harm.

I would rather do the most good for the most. Therefore, you should be proposing that our leaders go after alcohol, smoking, fat children and adults, unsafe driving, etc which cause far more damage and death than homosexuality. Take all the activities we engage in that are harmful to us as a nation, percentagewise, homosexuality is way down the list and therefore should occupy that much discourse.

I think these statistics should be pointed out and talked about, but in proper prospective to the other dangerous activites we engage in.

  4. Interesting point. In what ways would the government go after such things as alcohol, smoking, etc., anyway?

Of course, the difference between those things and homosexuality is that no one is making a direct effort to convince as many people as possible that they're OK, to the point of trying to silence those who point out that they're not.

  5. It must have escaped your attention, but government and the “mainstream” media already are going after alcohol, smoking, fat children and adults, unsafe driving, etc. Yet only a deafening silence on homosexual behavior.

Interesting, too, is the fact that we spend astronomically more per person on AIDS/HIV than heart disease and stroke, which are by far the most deadly of diseases. Even more interesting is that we are spending these staggering amounts of money on a disease…that can be essentially be wiped out by avoiding one single behavior. You don't have to modify your diet, eat more of this or less of that, you don't have to exercise or take expensive drugs; you just have to…not engage in homosexual sex.

Does the complete hypocrisy of the government and “mainstream” media now show through a little more clearly?

  6. The CDC reports that 47% of al new HIV cases in the US are due to homosexual activity and 46% are due to heterosexual behavior and IV drug use and other.Worldwide, single women are the common group now getting HIV. If you are advocating that politicinas and the media should point out the homesexual statisitcs then it would be seen as discriminatory and selective not to point out that just as many case are not homosexual related.

But lets say you get your way and politicians begin giving frequent speeches about the statistics of homosexual behavior and the media broadcasts the statistics as well, what do you want it to accomplish? Let me ask it this way ' What do you personally want to see happen after the stats are hammered home to the public' ?

  7. Actually I believe the most recent data available from the CDC says that of ALL Americans, heterosexual AIDS cases are only 32% of the total–and these are classified as “high risk” (in other words, they're having sex in highly unwise and immoral fashions)…meanwhile, homosexual contact makes up 56% of AIDS cases…from only 2.9% of the population. When you look only at men, that proportion jumps to 75% of all male AIDS cases…from less than 2.9% of the population.

Only someone severely biased in favor of excusing this immoral and unhealthy behavior could look at this information, shrug their shoulders and yawn. Our culture has obviously become insane; we have lost touch with reality.

Instead of ignoring this information and patting people on the back for making immoral and unhealthy choices, we should be–as we do with practically every other immoral and unhealthy behavior–universally sending the message that this behavior should be avoided, for one's own health and for public health, if not for moral reasons.

We would never see the behavior disappear; we never see dangerous and immoral behaviors completely disappear (the fallen nature of humanity precludes such a possibility). But what the herd encourages, the herd gets more of; what the herd condemns, the herd gets less of. Peer pressure could help greatly where even information, intellect and moral training fall short.

  8. I know your question was directed to Mr. Ellis, but I'd like to answer your question if you'll indulge me a moment.

You ask, Brian, ” What do you personally want to see happen after the stats are hammered home to the public' ?

As I've said on other threads, I'd be content with the truth. Let's be honest about the risks of MSM behavior. We are teaching sex ed in public schools and how to put a condom on a cucumber, but do they tell young people that the life expectancy of homosexual men is almost 25 years less than the national average? Or that we are witnessing a dramatic resurgence of a fearsome disease, syphilis, once considered almost eradicated from most communities, almost entirely due to homosexual behavior? Do they inform students that the CDC has reported that 82% of ALL reported STDs are the result of male homosexual sex? Yet, they are indoctrinated to be tolerant, even celebratory, of all things “gay.”

I do not advocate discrimination, and certainly not violence, against homosexuals, but let's get the facts out so that we can have an honest discussion about a very serious health issue the effects of which extend far beyond the 2-3% of the population that practices such dangerous activities.

  9. I don't have a problem with statistics being used, say, in school( or wherever) as you mentioned, as long as they are used in proper perspective, compared to all harmful activities kids should learn about.

I think alcohol, drugs, obesity, cigarettes, reckless driving statistics and dangers should be emphasized more than homosexual HIV and STD statistics because they do more harm, statistics show. But I don't have a problem with 'sex related' stats being made known if in proper perspective.

I would note that we don't see many deeply truly, Christian politicians holding up studies like these and drawing national attention to them when stumping for re-election or even after getting elected. I don't see Glenn Beck holding studies like these up. Maybe they are putting them in proper perspective as well

I am just asking for proper perspective compared to the whole.. say.. in schools or elsewhere

  10. Since homosexuals only make up 2.9% of the population, the unhealthy behaviors you mentioned will indeed affect far more people than indulging in homosexual behavior.

You also bring up a good point about proper perspective. We probably wouldn't need the same volume and frequency for messages about the dangers of homosexual behaviors as, say, PSAs about drinking, drugs, smoking, etc.

But I as Dr. Theo said something to the effect of, it would be refreshing just to see a little truth out there. As it is, our government officials and the “mainstream” media treat homosexual behavior as if it were the most normal and healthy behavior in the world–akin to riding a bicycle. They would be right…if 72% of male AIDS cases came from riding a bike. As it is, they are patting people on the back for their behavior as they push them into their graves.

That is reprehensible behavior for anyone, but especially for someone to whom people look for guidance.

  11. As you and dr theo say, I too always think the truth should be put out there. The CDC sure did. The question is who should then take these devastating statistics from the CDC and make them known. You suggest the media and politicians should.

I listen to a lot of media- Fox, Beck, Limbough. a syndicated Christian talk show most every day( Janet Mefferd), and listen to many conservative Christian government officials. They will make some comments about the unhealthy aspects of homosexual behavior, but always seem to avoid the graphic statistics of the CDC study that you want brought up.

If they don't do this, no one can expect regular media or government to take up that mantle. I do agree that there is a terrible glossing over of the serious consequences of homosexual and heterosexual behavior and the health facts of such behavior.

  12. Yes, sadly even most of the conservative and Christian community have been cowed by the aggressive homosexual PR campaign and the peer pressure. But if the “mainstream” media were even remotely the objective journalists they like to claim they are, they wouldn't have to follow anyone's lead.

The best we can do is each of us speak the truth when the opportunity rises, and not be afraid of people not liking us.

When I get to heaven, God isn't going to ask me if people liked me; he's going to ask me if I told people the truth…and I want to be ready to give a good answer.

  13. I don't think He will even need to ask.

  14. the homosexual population is not only 2% but much higher, it is difficult to tell how much higher these days as many people are still not coming out. We see examples of men living in the closet all the time and very recently another republican was outed after leaving a gay nightclub while drink driving.

Many closeted homosexuals who live with HIV will also not seek help (for fear of being outed) and often infect their wives also, as well as infecting everybody else they are meeting in public toilets.

Fact of the matter is that the majority of these new infections are not due to same sex love, but due to unprotected sex, this goes for HIV or Syphillis.

There needs to be more education on safe sex.

  15. There is no evidence that the homosexual population is greater than 2.9%. A survey was conducted a couple of years ago by Hunter College which was commissioned by the pro-homosexual group Human Rights Campaign. There is no reason whatsoever to believe that the poll was biased in any way.

If the STD rate was simply due to “unprotected sex,” we might expect the rate to be similar between homosexuals and heterosexuals; after all, I'm sure you're not saying homosexuals lack the intelligence to know how to use a condom or cannot grasp the importance of avoiding disease, or that homosexuals were somehow forcibly prevented from being able to view the prolific warnings about “safe” sex these days. Yet the homosexual community, while only making up a small percentage of the population, accounts for the overwhelming majority of infections.

There is obviously something wrong there. Could it be the fact that while condoms do a fair job of preventing pregnancy when used, viruses–which are much smaller than sperm–are able to go through the inherent “voids” or small holes in condoms? Could it be the nature of homosexual sex causes more condom failures? Could it be that homosexuals for some reason are just more reckless about sex? Or could it be the staggering promiscuity rate in the homosexual community? Perhaps many or all of these are factors.

Regardless, there is no need for “more education on safe sex.” Society is already saturated with it, and the procedure for applying a condom could not be more simple or obvious.

The most sane course of action would be to avoid homosexual sex. After all, no sane person would stick their penis into a wasp nest, even if they did think it might feel good.
