Eternal Ideals: The Story of America
Bill Whittle takes us on a trip to examine some of the noble ideals that formed the foundation of our great nation.
As Whittle explains, the U.S. Constitution is the “how” of our country while the Declaration of Independence is the “why” of our country.
The values championed by today’s Tea Party movement are the values exemplified in the Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution. Patriots of the Tea Party movement are not the uneducated, racist morons that elitist liberals and the “mainstream” media would have people believe.
Interestingly, Whittle points out that our ancestors who founded this great nation became incensed over a one-cent tax on tea (meanwhile today’s sheeple of America yawn over a tax burden of 15%, 25%, 30%…and even 39% isn’t enough for Marxist class-envy freaks who desire to “stick it to the rich” who have worked harder than they). It wasn’t about the tax, but about freedom, about being ruled by elitists who only saw the people as fodder for their own enrichment.
Whittle talks about how, after over 200 years, the ink on the Declaration of Independence are so faded they cannot really be read. I had the honor of seeing this (and other) historical document for the first time last September when I visited the National Archives in Washington D.C., and noticed the same fading by years and the bleaching of light; the room in which the Declaration is kept is kept very dim in order to prevent further fading.
Even more disturbing than the fading of this ink, Whittle points out, is the fading of these ideals from the everyday thought life of our society. It is sadly evident each day as we see our leaders hell-bent on running roughshod over the U.S. Constitution and the God-given rights identified in the Declaration. It is evident in the acquiescence of many to this assault on our way of life–even to the cheers of some.
Yet these despised Tea Party patriots have for the last year been willing to come out in the cold, in the rain, by the hundreds of thousands all across our great land and in our national capital to ensure these values are not forgotten. These patriots are not content merely to have them remembered; they are intent on seeing these values return to prominence in our country and to live once again in the halls of our government.
And God helping us, they will.
