The Cato Institute has an informative new video out about the cost of public schools…and the hidden costs of public schools. The per-pupil spending in the average public school is staggering enough (especially when you consider how little homeschool parents spend per-pupil and manage to out-perform their public school peers). But as this presentation will show, there are considerably more hidden costs that even the published figures seldom reveal.
Where our culture used to see a defect in character, we now see a psychological/mental/behavioral disorder. What was once a symptom of a disordered soul is now a symptom of a medical and/or psychological condition, to be diagnosed and treated by trained professionals, on leather couches in quiet offices, or – if your particular psychological affliction is interesting enough – maybe even on the reality TV program of your choice.
The current Obama administration budget projects a doubling of our national debt to $18.5 trillion by 2020, or about 100 percent of our GDP. Harvard economist Martin Feldstein estimates interest alone will cost $800 billion a year. It’s time to stop lying to ourselves. We’re losing our freedom and our nation. We need to slam on the brakes before it’s too late.
