In the face of the embarrassing Climategate scandal and an unprecedented winter season that has for the first time ever delivered measurable snowfall to all 50 states, Al Gore’s absence from the public stage has been conspicuous. Perhaps he’s taken a page from Punxsutawney Phil’s playbook and is hibernating in hopes of a sunnier forecast come April.

Lutherans who have left or are pondering their exit from the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America have put a name to the alternate church body they plan to form – North American Lutheran Church. A proposal for the new denominational body that is intended to provide a biblically faithful home for disaffected Lutherans was released Thursday, on the anniversary of the death of 16th century reformer Martin Luther.

It’s now over 40 years since the Civil Right movement — enough wandering in the wilderness. It’s time for a new generation of black Americans to step forward. A generation to turn to the truths that will rebuild black lives, black families, and lead blacks to the freedom that Dr. King and all blacks have dreamed about.

Conservative leaders have released an excellent statement today which articulates our loyalty to the founding principles of America–the principles that produced the greatest, most affluent, most tranquil and free nation in all of human history. It is called the Mount Vernon Statement.

Karmelita Plains Bull Martin organized the first Tea Party protest by Crow tribal members in Hardin, MT on Monday. Attending was Crow Teaparty leader Adrian Bird, Sr. who said “the tribe would be better off if it developed the natural resources on the reservation, lived by tribal laws and declined federal government assistance.” The story was reported at the online site of the Helena Independent Record yesterday and reinforces my belief that the Tea Party Movement is growing daily and encompassing ever broader and more diverse Americans. What they have in common is a love of liberty and a belief in the Constitutional principles upon which this great nation was founded.

One of the biggest, most buried and under-reported stories of last year is the shocking move in early May by then-Home Secretary of Britain, Jaqui Smith, to announce the inexplicable inclusion of Savage’s name on a list of people who would be denied entry into the United Kingdom if they attempted to visit. What’s astonishing is that the list was made up of murdering Muslim terrorists, brutal nazi skinheads and Michael Savage, a law-abiding American citizen and prolific author, who has two masters degrees and a Ph.D.

Keli (”Liberty Belle”) Carender became one of the founding mothers of the Tea Party Movement when she organized the Seattle protest against the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, a.k.a. Porkulus. In a letter sent to Michelle Malkin she reminds us of what the first “tea party” was about back in 1773 and how Americans are suffering similar oppression under present day tyrants. Patriots today have told the political elites that we have had enough and that we demand that the government be yoked and constrained according to the limits laid out in our Constitution. The desire for liberty still burns hot in the hearts of most Americans, and therein lies our hope for a renewal of the founding principles.

Loving your country does not mean being satisfied with the status quo or the way government is being administered. Government invariably, possibly inevitably, oversteps its authority. Love of country, it must be emphasized, is always strengthened by both a knowledge of history and of the Constitution and, when need be, acting on that knowledge.

Paul Ryan’s retirement proposal is a bi-partisan reform opportunity where Barack Obama can truly make history. Wealth doesn’t come from income. It comes from ownership. Investing in personal retirement accounts, rather than paying Social Security taxes, would be a boon for America’s black community.

If we live long enough, the day will likely come when each of us will rely on someone else to care for us. I, for one, hope that when that day comes I live in a world that looks at me and sees a person, not a “problem.”
