Thad Wasson Campaign Announcement
I heard from Republican U.S. House of Representatives candidate Thad Wasson of Piedmont this morning.
Wasson tells me he will be sitting out this election cycle and will not be running for the House. Expect to see more information on his blog and/or website.
It looks like the path for SD Secretary of State and candidate Chris Nelson, along with SD Representative and candidate Blake Curd just got a little more clear.
It takes a lot of guts to throw your hat in the ring, especially knowing the difficulties and logistical challenges for a working man who has a young family.
I appreciate Thad for having the courage to do that, and hopefully we’ll see more of him in the future. It sounds as if he’ll stay engaged, since he plans on being at the Citizens for Liberty meeting tomorrow.
Incidentally, South Dakota Dist. 30 Senator and Citizens for Liberty President Gordon Howie will be officially announcing his campaign for South Dakota governor at tomorrow’s meeting.
Be sure to be there to talk to Thad, Gordon and many other Rapid City area patriots!

[...] Bob Ellis says that Thad Wasson says he’s out of the running for the GOP nomination for South Dakota’s lone Congressional seat. That’s too bad. I didn’t plan to vote for him, but Wasson at least showed a refreshing honesty and willingness to think outside the parameters of politics as usual. he had the potential to be the blue-collar straw that woul stir the drink at the debates and show people you don’t have to be a rich Republican who toes the party line to get involved in South Dakota politics.
