Scott Brown Surges in the Race for Massachusetts

Scott Brown

Things are getting pretty exciting in Massachusetts where not long ago it was believed another Democrat would just waltz into the senate seat of the late Ted Kennedy.

In the past few weeks, we’ve watched Scott Brown come from behind as a relative unknown to someone who could close the gap and get ahead. Over the weekend Brown was slightly ahead in a Democrat poll, and yesterday he raised $1 million in a single day.

While it wouldn’t be a major upset if Brown did happen to lose (the People’s Republic of Massachusetts has been a liberal enclave for decades, after all), it will be a political earthquake if he pulls it off–and it looks as if he just might.

A Scott Brown win means the Democrats lose their 60-member filibuster-proof majority in the Senate. Also, depending on whether the liberals running the establishment will actually allow him to be sworn in without delay (as they did with New York’s Bill Owens back in November), it could affect the reconciliation vote for or against the unconstitutional socialized health care bill.

The candidates finished their final debate last nights, and from what I’ve seen, Brown did very well.

Below are some videos of Scott Brown. One is of an interview conducted by Sean Hannity a few days ago. Another features Brown’s position on national defense.  One video shows the similarities between Scott Brown and Kennedy (John F. Kennedy, that is). There is a video response from Brown to Martha Coakley’s ad.  There is a video clip from a debate where Brown set the liberals straight, in that the senate seat he is vying for is not Ted Kennedy’s seat or the Democrat’s seat, but a senate seat that belongs to the people.  Finally, a post-debate interview with Greta Van Susteren last night.

I called both my Democratic Senators in Maryland and asked, "If Scott Brown wins in Massachusetts next week, will you wait until he is seated to vote on health care, or will you ignore the will of the people?" No answer yet--but we need one. All it takes to stop the anti-democratic power games in DC is for Brown to win and one Democratic Senator (or Joe Lieberman, an Independent) to stand up for democracy.

Call your Senator now at 202-224-3121 and ask them the same question. Then pass it on! There CAN'T be 60 elected representatives who would openly announce their intention of trampling on the power of the people.

Slightly ahead? One outlier poll had him ahead by 1pt, same group that got NY-23 very, very wrong. Brown's behind by at least 10pts, two most recent polls show him behind 15pts and 14pts.

If you live in Dakota, you clearly can't vote for Brown. But you CAN make an online donation and you CAN offer to make calls on his behalf. Now is the time.
