Less choice on abortion but more murder
Dr. Jane Orient, Executive Director of the Association of American Physicians and Surgeons, wrote about recent health care legislation: “The bills passed by the House and the Senate eliminate a vast array of choices that many Americans prefer, such as low-cost insurance. But the most precious choice they destroy is the right to choose life: the right to choose not to support abortion in any way. Not financially, with taxes or premiums. And not by providing hands, facilities, referrals, prescriptions, or permission to perform or enable this “procedure.”
Rep. Bachmann: Rescind Bonuses for Freddie, Fannie Execs
Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN) and whoever agrees with her definitely have their priorities straight. Instead of trying to play the socialist government thug by regulating and restricting the pay of executives of private companies, the government should instead chop the bonuses of the government financial institutions that were at the heart of the 2008 financial meltdown: Fannie and Freddie.
Christian Leaders Repent, Unite to Strengthen Marriage
Pastors across the country are repenting for the little they’ve been doing to address marriage needs in the church and are committing themselves to no longer stand idly by. The blame for the high divorce rate in the United States, the increasing number of out-of-wedlock births and the falling percentage of adults getting married does not fall on secular society, they say. It falls on the church.
Candidates and Officials Make the Rounds at Citizens for Liberty
Citizens for Liberty held their monthly evening meeting tonight at the Best Western Ramkota in Rapid City. Speakers included South Dakota Public Utilities Commissioner Dusty Johnson, District 33 state House candidate Elizabeth Kraus Munro, District 30 state Senate candidate Bruce Rampelberg, and Dr. Edward Picardi, a Rapid City surgeon who gave a presentation on the government health care plan being discussed in Congress.
Proposition 8 Trial: Day 3 Update
Wednesday’s testimony included an attempt to paint opposition to counterfeit marriage as bigotry and discrimination, equating it with racism of the past while minimizing the moral concerns of the majority. Homosexual opposition to Proposition 8 also attempted to delegitimize two of the largest denominations in America.
Strict Homeschooling Regulation Rejected by New Hampshire Legislature
The New Hampshire House of Representatives on Wednesday rejected a bill that would tightly regulate homsechooling. “After studying this issue for several years I’ve gotten to know homeschoolers, the law, and how the system works and I’m convinced that it is working fine,” said Rep. Barbara Shaw, who has 45 years of teaching experience.
Ultrasound Provides Window to Life in the Womb
Ultrasound technology is credited with an important role in changing attitudes about abortion. If women see images of their unborn children, and are educated about developing life in the womb, they are less likely to abort. 3-D and 4-D imaging are providing the most realistic look ever at life in the womb.
DSS Uses Legislature to Go After Unregulated Day Cares
It didn’t take long for the Regulators to get started. In South Dakota’s 2010 legislative session, we already have a bill going after the “unregulated” (read: not under the thumb of government) daycare situations where more than 12 unrelated children are cared for. They must be brought into Big Brother’s fold or face criminal charges.
Massive Outpouring of Aid Heading to Haiti
From denominations and mission agencies to broadcasters and foreign governments, groups and individuals are responding to the devastation in Haiti with an outpouring of aid, on-site efforts, and calls for prayer and donation. Meanwhile, officials fear that the death toll from Haiti’s devastating earthquake could reach into the tens of thousands, with some saying a toll of 100,000 and even 500,000 is possible
Only 1 in 3 Presbyterians Affirm Key Truth Claim of the Bible
Less than half of Christians in the largest Presbyterian denomination in the country believe Jesus Christ is the only way to salvation, a new survey reveals. Among members, only 43 percent disagree or strongly disagree that “all the world’s religions are equally good ways of helping a person find ultimate truth.”
Coakley Choice of Big Pharma
The race for the Massachusetts U.S. Senate seat vacated by the late Ted Kennedy between Martha Coakley and Scott Brown is shaping up to be a referendum on Obamacare. Big Pharma and Big Insurance have decided to ignore their clients and throw-in with Big Government on this nation-changing issue. What kind of promises have they gotten from Obama/Pelosi/Reid to take what would seem to be such a huge risk? And how much will they cost us?
Brown-Coakley Race in Mass. Gets Rough and Tumble
The race for the Massachusetts U.S. Senate seat vacated by the late Ted Kennedy is getting pretty rough. Last night, as Weekly Standard reporter John McCormack attempted to ask Democrat Martha Coakley about her “no terrorists in Afghanistan” comment, Democrat operative Michael Meehan appears to have shoved him to the ground.
‘Untold Suffering’ in Store for Haiti Quake Victims
Survivors of a massive earthquake that struck Haiti on Tuesday face “untold suffering,” warns Christian Aid. Thousands are feared dead following the 7.0 magnitude quake which struck 10 miles southwest of Port-au-Prince just before 5 p.m. local time. Buildings across the capital were toppled, including the presidential palace and the headquarters of the UN mission in Haiti.
