GOP Chairman Candor: Are We Ready to Lead?
From Hotline On Call:
“I don’t know all the candidates yet,” Steele continued, according to a transcript of the show. “We still have some vacancies that need to get filled, but then the question we need to ask ourselves is: If we do that, are we ready?”
“I don’t know. And that’s what I’m assessing and evaluating right now. Those candidates who are looking to run have to be anchored in these principles,” he said, referring to 5 conservative ideals he lays out in his new tome. “If they don’t [anchor themselves], then they’ll get to Washington, and they’ll start drinking that Potomac River water, and they’ll get drunk with power and throw the steps out the window.”
I appreciate Steele’s honesty. That is very uncommon anywhere in politics today. But I have some advice for him.
If you don’t have candidates who are anchored in the conservative principles that form the foundation of the Republican Party, make contact with Tea Party folks in those districts. I guarantee you they will know potential candidates who are anchored in those principles.
And don’t wait until late in the primary season; do it NOW. You don’t want another Scozzafava-Hoffman situation where you have a RINO running under the GOP banner…against a third party candidate who adheres to GOP values far more closely.
If the GOP plays their cards right (which is always a valid question), they can clean house (excuse the pun) in the House and Senate. The anti-American agenda of the White House and congressional leadership has awaken patriotic Americans like never before, and average Americans involved in the Tea Party movement and on their own have punched a hole a mile wide in the Democrat line this year.
2010 is the GOP’s election to lose, because the opportunity for a historic win has been handed to them on a silver platter. Let’s pray to God they don’t manage to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory, because if we don’t stop this socialist agenda within the next year, it may be too late for America to ever recover.
