Gallup: Conservatism is the Top Ideology
The latest Gallup report finds conservatism is the top ideology in America.
The increased conservatism that Gallup first identified among Americans last June persisted throughout the year, so that the final year-end political ideology figures confirm Gallup’s initial reporting: conservatives (40%) outnumbered both moderates (36%) and liberals (21%) across the nation in 2009.
More broadly, the percentage of Americans calling themselves either conservative or liberal has increased over the last decade, while the percentage of moderates has declined.
This is really not surprising at all.
While the “mainstream” media likes to paint society as being mostly “moderates,” a handful of evil conservatives and practically no liberals to be found anywhere, astute people know the difference.
Only the most vociferous, ultra-Leftist people will actually admit they are liberals (the surprising thing here is to see 21% who will admit it); most liberals (like those in the “mainstream” media) realize on some level how extreme their ideology is–and that average Americans would not accept it–and call themselves “moderates” to provide political cover for pushing that same radical agenda.
There are some conservatives who actually lack the courage to call themselves what they are, also running under the “moderate” banner, but most conservatives are proud of their political philosophy, realizing that it is the political philosophy which most closely matches that of the Founders, and is most in harmony with the U.S. Constitution.
In the past year, we have seen liberalism on parade in Washington and across our country. With liberals in control of the White House and Congress, liberalism has been more out-in-the-open than we normally see. And despite the “mainstream” media’s efforts to paint liberalism as “moderate” and patriotic Americans as “teabaggers” and terrorists, all the freedom-loving Americans who have come out in the Tea Party movement and at town halls across the country, even the fence-sitters have been able to see the clear difference.
The choice is socialism, embrace of Marxist ideas, America-trashing and loss of freedom under liberalism; or more freedom, patriotism, traditional American values and Constitutional government with conservatism.
Expect conservative identification to go even higher in the coming year.
