EEOC Nominee Believes Religious Belief Should Not Be Tolerated
Chai Feldblum, President Obama’s nominee for the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, not only believes “sexual liberty” trumps religious freedom, she believes religious beliefs that run counter to politically correct dogma should not be tolerated.
From CNS News:
“Just as we do not tolerate private racial beliefs that adversely affect African-Americans in the commercial arena, even if such beliefs are based on religious views, we should similarly not tolerate private beliefs about sexual orientation and gender identity that adversely affect LGBT [lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender] people,” the Georgetown law professor argued.
I cannot fail to point out that there is a critical, fundamental difference between discrimination against people with different skin colors and a sexual behavior which the doctrine of every major religion in the world teaches is immoral and unnatural. Skin color is an innate, morally-neutral physical characteristic, while homosexual behavior is just that: a behavior. Further, it is an immoral one that is contrary to God’s design for the expression of human sexuality. It is also counter to the obvious natural function for our sex organs, and is also linked to much higher health risks which include AIDS, other STDs, anal cancer, hepatitis, depression, substance abuse, suicide and domestic violence.
In fact, the spiritual and physical hazards associated with homosexual behavior are so great, it could easily be argued that those who affirm and encourage this unhealthy behavior are the ones who are fostering beliefs that “adversely affect” homosexuals. If someone were to encourage people to use meth or crack, we would rightly conclude that the encourager did not have the best interest of these people in mind. If someone were to encourage others to drive fast through a school zone or on an icy highway, we would rightly conclude that the encourager did not have the best interest of others in mind. Anyone who encourages others to engage in the immoral, unhealthy practice of homosexual behavior also does not have the best interest of others in mind.
Someone who keeps their aberrant sexual behavior private is unlikely to encounter any employment conflicts in the first place. But the homosexual who insists on being open and vocal about their sexual disorientation may create an impression of or association with their employer that the employer does not want. This is especially true of Christian businesses and employers who want to be known for their Christian worldview. Even more problematic is the cross-dresser or other individual who is very visibly confused about their sex.
Feldblum doesn’t care about any of this, however.
“For those who believe that a homosexual or bisexual orientation is not morally neutral, and that an individual who acts on his or her homosexual orientation is acting in a sinful or harmful manner (to himself or herself and to others), it is problematic when the government passes a law that gives such individuals equal access to all societal institutions,” Feldblum wrote.
Anyone who heeds moral, practical or biological considerations over politically correct ones must be punished, she believes.
Putting this radical woman in charge of the EEOC is like putting the fox in charge of the hen house, or putting criminals in charge of the prison, or the inmates in charge of the asylum. But then, such “Isaiah 5:20” appointments are the norm in the Obama Administration.
The American people, however, are in charge of the U.S. government, and it is our responsibility to tell our government we will not tolerate such gross irresponsibility and contempt for the founding values of our nation.

It's hard to know what to even say in response to this. This woman has no idea how insane she sounds to anyone who, unlike her, has an actual understanding of homosexual behavior and isn't just swallowing the popular, denial-based misconceptions.
What must not be tolerated is her “thought police” type of mentality.

I agree, Dcm. It really is amazing that people this wicked and “out of touch” with the truth are in such high places of power in our country. It is a testament to how far we've allowed our country, our culture, to sink into the amoral abyss. The Feldblum nomination is disastrous and must be defeated. She likely is homosexual, therefore her insane rantings, but she is dead-wrong in her assertions.
I pray the Lord will stop these people that have taken over Washington; stop them and give us a reprieve from the terrible judgment that is steamrolling our way.
Seems like both sides are simply expressing opinions and not facts since the studies of what causes homosexuality are inconclusive.
Perhaps, but a better way to put it might be that the causes are more complex than most people (on both sides) make them out to be. Anyway, maybe you don't think it's possible to really know what kinds of things cause homosexual drives, but that's a cop-out. The patterns are real and recognizable, but the politically-incorrect nature of their reality makes them difficult to educate people about.
Seems like each side has only opinions and no facts to back up their assertions since the studies are inconclusive on what actually causes homosexuality
Those that know the cited passage from Isaiah likely find it coming to mind daily as we read the latest news from the Obama administartion and the Pelosi/Reid Congress.
Isaiah 5:20
“Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!” -Isaiah 5:20-
Facts?
What causes homosexuality? What causes ANY sin? Within the long list of sexual sins in Leviticus 20 is this: “If a man lies with another man, as he lies with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination…” Another witness against the sin of homosexuality is, of course, illustrated in the utter destruction (BY GOD) of Sodom and Gomorrah, and also in Romans 1.
Why is it hard to understand, and why would you be concerned with what “causes” a man to lie with another man, or a woman with a woman? What “causes” a man to cheat on his wife breaking his marriage vows, or “causes” a woman to murder her husband, or “causes” a man to steal another man's property? Does understanding the “cause” make it right or excuse it? No.
Preoccupation with the “cause” of homosexuality is a waste of time, a distraction, from the fact that homosexuality is, always has been, and always will be wrong. In, FACT, it's actually quite simple.

With all respect, Gina, there is definite value in understanding the causes of homosexual drives, just as with any other sexual addiction. I doubt anyone can manage to get away from a homosexual lifestyle without some understanding of how their experiences got them there to begin with. You can point fingers at someone and tell them they just chose to be perverted, but that helps no one. They didn't choose to have the desires they have; they can only choose how to respond to & deal with them.
Dcm, understanding that all sin begins in a person's heart and then manifests itself by actions in the flesh is essential. If someone looks at sin as being “caused” by a force outside one's spirit, then there will never be an understanding of sin. With the sin of homosexuality, for example, if you look for a cause outside of the person, it's not found there. You could find outside influences and persuasions, perhaps, but ultimately, everyone should be able to pinpoint the moment the decision was made to give in to the sin, and that is found inside the person. Trying to be free from tendency toward any given sin without an understanding of our sinful nature in relation to God is difficult, if not impossible. God can help free us from any sinful tendency or addiction.
I realize we all have varying levels of understanding, and for some, counseling may be of some benefit. I know what you're saying, Dcm, and those searchings for insight and understanding might help some people. I do tend to see the world in black and white, “simplistic” ways.
Gina,
Some people with exreme Manic Disorder commit all sorts of sins- aberrant behavior, sex etc. when in a manic phase. I promise you trying to get them to understand that these sins are in their hearts does no good. They must get the underlying chemical imbalance treated first.
All I am saying is that homosexuality could have a embryologic chemical process that could affect their sinning tendency like the manic does.To say we shouldn/t look for a cause shuts the door on possibly finding sometthing that contributes to their behavior and could help them.
To me, your position sounds a little like 'anti-scientific research' rhetorici. If science can lessen the 'sin tendency', then I would think that would be a good thing.
Brian, scientific research has yielded wonderful things for our world, and we are all truly blessed by many marvelous revelations in medicine and other areas. But, there are some things that science will never be able to explain. People who insist on finding a naturalistic cause for spiritual problems will always come up short. Again, I go back to spiritual, even demonic, problems here. I firmly believe that many “mental” illnesses have spiritual/demonic causes at their roots, not a “chemical imbalance.” Of course, no laboratory work could ever prove the spiritual/demonic connection. Now that “chemical imbalance” has been latched on as the “cause” of crazy, otherwise inexplicable, behavior, I know that what I believe will be pooh-poohed in place of SSRI prescription.
I know researchers will never stop trying to find physical causes for bad or crazy behavior, so there's no danger of the world suddenly thinking like I do. I just know that you can medicate a demon-possessed person 'til the cows come home, and that will only make the demon laugh and make the person's liver and body suffer the “side effects” of the toxins in the “medicines.”
Gina
I am not advocating that science try and replace the belief that spiritual problems can be the main cause and wreck havoc with a person's morals or behavior. It can. What I am most concerned about is the idea that we shouldn't even look for any natural cause that might contribute or cause, depending on your views, bad behavior. It just anti-science to me to say we shouldn't at least explore it scientifically.
How about this for a compromise- Lets give the person struggling with the Devil all the help they can get ?
Yes, Brian, I understand what you're saying. I said no one is going to stop searching for a naturalistic cause for these things. Just because I believe what I believe, does not stop anyone from looking where they wish for an “explanation.”
I am not “anti-science.” By no means! But, I do know that science will never be able to explain many things about our world, and science has and will come up with some false “answers.” Regardless, my thoughts will not inhibit any research anywhere, so, no fear. I'm just a “nobody,” Brian, and I am certainly not out to stop anyone from doing their research into “mental illness.” Lots and lots of grant money is at stake, after all.
Gina,
You're a long, long shot from being a ” nobody “,even in your ideas on science and it's place in the world. Your very simple, but piercing statement that ' even science comes up with false answers ' is something that to many scientists often forget and probably should be put on every door of each science lab.
Seems like human nature for all of us to tend to get to big for our britches !
What is wrong with all of you people? Are you all deluded? Everyone seems to be “Christian” so I guess that answers that question. What is wrong with homosexuality (other than the fact it makes YOU uncomfortable)? Let me ask you something Mr. Ellis, have you ever even met a homosexual? You do realize that they're not radioactive, right? I couldn't agree more with Chai Feldblum . It is people like you who oppress this country and keep millions of people 'in the closet' because of fear of moral crusaders like yourself. So, again, why is homosexuality bad? Because a two thousand year old book says so? These people have done NOTHING wrong and do not deserve to be punished for the way they are. Which do you think is more 'wrong', being in love with the same sex and living a happy and fulfilled life with a partner or persecuting (even hating) an individual (or entire class of people) whom you have NEVER even met for a trait which they have absolutely no control over?
Mr. Thrower, I have met plenty of homosexuals over the years and have had friendships with some of them who were not so wrapped up in pushing an agenda of legitimization that we couldn't share some common ground.
What is wrong with you that you cannot seem to come to terms with the fact that homosexual behavior is immoral? Perhaps you are not a member of any of the major religions, because the doctrine of all of them teach that homosexual behavior is immoral, that it is a violation of God's design for the expression of human sexuality. Perhaps you are not a member of any of the major religions, or are an atheist; in that case, I can understand where the immorality of homosexual behavior would not be relevant to you or accepted by you. But there are other factors about homosexual behavior which should concern even you, if this is the case.
Perhaps you don't believe in science, either, because the biology of our bodies clearly points to heterosexual relations as the normal, natural and proper use of our sex organs. From the very fact that our sex organs are obviously designed for the function of human reproduction, down to the intricate mechanics of how both male and female sex organs function makes it glaringly obvious that they were meant to be used in a heterosexual fashion.
Perhaps medicine and public health is of no concern to you, either, because homosexual behavior is more unhealthy that smoking. Studies in both the U.S. and Canada have found that homosexuals live about 20 years less than the general population. Why? Because they have vastly elevated risks of a host of maladies. These include higher risks of AIDS (72% of male AIDS cases are related to homosexual behavior–this 72% is generated from a group that makes up 2.9% of the population), syphilis, gonorrhea, Chlamydia, herpes, HPV, anal cancer, hepatitis, substance abuse, mental health issues, anxiety, depression, suicide and domestic violence.
What sane person would even adopt a neutral position toward a practice so dangerous? Much less encourage people in this behavior?
People have been leaving homosexual behavior behind for thousands of years, and many continue to do so even today. The contention that homosexuals cannot change is a lie–one that imprisons them in this dangerous, immoral behavior. We would look at someone who told the alcoholic, the drug abuser, the gambling addict “You cannot change. Accept it and celebrate it” as someone either profoundly ignorant, or someone who was hostile to the welfare of these people and who wanted to see them suffer.
Those who pat homosexuals on the back, telling them it is normal, natural and healthy, are no less culpable.
I believe to say something is “immoral” is purely subjective, as we can see through various cultural practices in which what may seem “wrong” to one is completely accepted elsewhere. You are correct in your assumption that I am indeed an atheist, so by definition I rely strictly on science and empirical evidence to support my “beliefs” about the world, if you will. While you make a good observational point that human (primates in general) sex organs seem to be “designed” for heterosexual relations, homosexual behavior is widespread amongst social birds and mammals, particularly the sea mammals and the primates.
“No species has been found in which homosexual behaviour has not been shown to exist, with the exception of species that never have sex at all, such as sea urchins and aphids. Moreover, a part of the animal kingdom is hermaphroditic, truly bisexual. For them, homosexuality is not an issue.”
—Petter Bøckman
I believe that much of the “substance abuse, mental health issues, anxiety, depression, suicide…” experienced in the homosexual community is just as statistical as with any other group of individuals. If anything, much of the substance abuse, mental health issues, anxiety, and depression is initiated by societies damnation of a lifestyle which is not harmful to anyone. My roommate is gay and is my best friend. It hurts me to no end to hear her take the abuse from insensitive, right-wing douchebags when she has done NOTHING to deserve this. I believe individuals should have every right to be with whomever they wish and not be criticized or unjustly judged for a completely natural behavior. Why would “god” even allow homosexuality to happen in the first place? Shits and giggles? Why would “god” care about things as trivial as this? Why should any of us care who another individual is with? Surely “god” would have more important things to deal with than this issue. Oppressing an entire people in the name of “morality” is not something that should be on the resume of a “divine creator”. This “behavior” is not immoral, it is not dangerous. I do not understand how you can compare a homosexual with an alcoholic, drug abuser, or gambling addict, as these are all self-harming conditions. You seem to be the one wanting these people to suffer, as my beliefs do not condescend or belittle others. Besides, do you REALLY think homosexuality is just going to vanish? Of course not! It has been around since its evolutionary roots and will continue to thrive and hopefully one day supersede the ignorance of individuals who just cannot seem to stand the thought of others being happy and living a fulfilled life.
If morality is subjective, then it must be alright for me to come over to your house, kill you and take any property that I wish that once belonged to you. You see, murder and theft may be wrong to you, but if I want your stuff, they're perfectly fine with me. Where do you live, by the way?
You are mistaken that homosexual behavior is widespread among animals. It does occur sometimes, but it is far, far from the normal…and again, it is contrary to nature. The natural sexual function among the animals you mentioned his heterosexual, and the function of their sex organs make that quite obvious (to someone who doensn't have an agenda, that is).
And you are also mistaken about the health risks associated with homosexual behavior. I made it clear that all these health risks are ELEVATED and MUCH HIGHER in the homosexual community than in the general population. How did you miss that?
Homoesexuals are not being “oppressed in the name of morality.” As a group, they are not being oppressed at all. And reminding society of the immorality of that sexual practice is not “oppression” any more than dissuading people from alcohol abuse, smoking, etc. is “oppressing” them.
Homosexuality is unfortunatley not going to “vanish,” as you said. It has been around about as long as the human race has, and the human race has been fallen and subject to the embrace of the abnormal and the immoral for nearly that long, too.
But we must not pretend that something which is immoral, unnatural and unhealthy is moral, natural and healthy. Homosexual behavior is none of these things, and we do a great disservice to those who have been ensnared by it when we pretend that it is, that they cannot change, that they should not change.
Were we to encourage someone to get drunk, abuse drugs, or to drive recklessly, we would be rightly identified as someone who is hostile to the welfare of others. So it is for those who foolishly encourage homosexuals to continue in this destructive lifestyle.
Ed Thrower, you said, “my beliefs do not condescend or belittle others.” Oh, really? I guess in your up-is-down, black-is-white, and good-is-evil world, calling someone an “insensitive, right-wing douchebag” is meant to be an uplifting compliment.
It's amazing to me how hostile and vitriolic those on the left are, while they accuse US of being “hateful.” As Bob Ellis pointed out, homosexuals are NOT oppressed in our society (can't say the same for homosexuals in, say, Iran, where they hang homosexuals by the neck until dead). You, Ed Thrower, are the one who is venemous and spiteful toward Christians, not the other way around. Christians did not pick this battle in the courts to “legitimize” homosexuality; homosexuals did.
As far as your completely incorrect assertion that your “beliefs do not condescend or belittle others,” your hell-inspired insults toward God are quite chilling. I'm sorry for your terrible choice.
