Tea Party More Popular Than Republican Party
The national Republicans have received wake-up calls in 2006 and 2008 and have so far failed to heed those calls. I wonder if this latest shocking wake-up call will make an impact.
From Rasmussen Reports:
In a three-way Generic Ballot test, the latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds Democrats attracting 36% of the vote. The Tea Party candidate picks up 23%, and Republicans finish third at 18%. Another 22% are undecided.
Among voters not affiliated with either major party, the Tea Party comes out on top. Thirty-three percent (33%) prefer the Tea Party candidate, and 30% are undecided. Twenty-five percent (25%) would vote for a Democrat, and just 12% prefer the GOP.
The report also finds among Republicans, 39% say they’ll vote for their own party and 33% say they’d vote for a Tea Party candidate.
So what does this mean? Message: GOP, pull your head out of your hindquarters and start acting like Republicans…or in 2010 and 2012 you will likely find yourself in another NY-23 situation.
Conservatives that make up the Republican base have had it with being a doormat for the liberal fat-cats in the Republican Party; the fat-cat establishment has shown no loyalty to the party’s stated values, so conservatives no longer feel any loyalty to the establishment.
If the GOP establishment continues to insist on pushing RINOs on their base, their base is likely to find a real conservative.
Whether that third party/Tea Party alternative can win as Doug Hoffman almost did in NY-23 (despite RINO Dede Scozzafava’s spiteful support of the Democrat) remains to be seen, but the choice remains pretty clear for the Republican establishment: back real Republicans who champion Republican values, or be prepared to lose yet again to Democrats.
