Tecumseh and stem cells
A story of scalping and how some Indians learned to treat survivors has proven to be centuries ahead of scientists and discussions about new medical therapies. Perhaps we should heed the words of Ecclesiastes 1:9:
That which has been is what will be,
That which is done is what will be done,
And there is nothing new under the sun.
Mikulski Amdt Provides Avenue to Abortion in Senate Health Care Bill
A health care bill amendment that the Senate passed Thursday has pro-life groups fretting that the door is again open to the federal funding of abortion. In a 61-39 vote, the Senate approved an amendment by Sen. Barbara Mikulski (D-Md.) that mandates coverage of any preventive care or screenings for women by the Health Resource and Services Administration.
Global Warming in the Hot Seat
As world leaders prepare to gather in Copenhagen to discuss a global strategy for combatting climate change—a strategy likely to involve a substantial growth of government power at the expense of individual and economic liberty—a shock wave of controversy threatens to shatter what many have come to view as settled science.
Evangelical Scientists Speak Out on Global Warming Hoax
A group of evangelicals, comprised of scientists, economists and theologians, called the mainstream view of pending catastrophe caused by climate change a “hoax” at an event Thursday just days ahead of a key U.N.-sponsored climate change conference in Copenhagen. The evangelical scholars argued that science, contrary to what many leading scientists claim, does not support the claim that increased CO2 in the atmosphere is having a negative effect on the earth.
The Cambrian Explosion an enigma for Darwinists
The Cambrian explosion has been called the most spectacular event in the history of life, for in a moment of geological time complex animals first appeared on earth fully formed, without evidence of any evolutionary ancestors. Charles Darwin viewed this as an inexplicable mystery. Early in the Cambrian period compound eyes, articulated limbs, sophisticated sensory organs and skeletons burst into existence seemingly out of nowhere, without evidence of the gradualism upon which evolutionary theory depends.
CA Science Center Sued for Info by Intelligent Design Group
The Discovery Institute, an intelligent design think tank, has filed a petition against the California Science Center for refusing to disclose certain public documents. The petition comes after the American Freedom Alliance filed a lawsuit against the science center for canceling a contract to screen a pro-intelligent design video at the center’s IMAX Theater.
Many Americans Willing to Forgo Gifts to Give to Charity
Nearly 40 percent of Americans are willing to forgo another holiday gift and have that money given to charities instead, a recent survey shows. Results from a new survey for the American Red Cross reveal that two out of three Americans say it’s more important this year to give something to charity because of the economy.
Calling It Racism
It might not be accurate, but it does help avoid dealing with unpleasant truths, doesn’t it?
ClimateGate and Undermining of Science
Daniel Henninger from the Wall Street Journal examines ClimateGate and how he sees that undermining the objectivity of science. Our faith in the scientific community as objective seekers of scientific truth is dying because it is now plain to see that some in the scientific community are willing to distort scientific analysis to support their presuppositions.
Christians Must Engage Real and Virtual Worlds, Say New Media Enthusiasts
It may be easy to dismiss the value of digital relationships but that is where many people are in the digital age and if Christians are committed to the command of Jesus to go and make disciples, then they need to be there too. That was the message that emerged at the Evangelical Alliance’s Digimission conference on Tuesday.

Washington, D.C.-based Family Research Council released on Wednesday a new study detailing the effects of pornography on marriages, children and individuals. “This is a ground-breaking review of what pornography costs families trying to create a life together,” said Dr. Pat Fagan, who authored the study and serves as FRC’s senior fellow and director of the Center for Research on Marriage and Religion.
