In response to what some opponents see as a Congress that doesn’t represent their interests, State Legislators are looking to the nearly forgotten American political tradition of nullification as a way to reject any potential national health care program that may be coming from Washington. In 2010, residents of Arizona will be voting on a State Constitutional Amendment that would let them effectively opt out of any proposed national health care plan. Legislatures in Florida, Michigan, Ohio and Pennsylvania are also considering similar State Constitutional Amendments.

The Senate on Tuesday rejected an amendment that would ban federal funding of abortion under the health care bill. After days of debate, the Senate voted 54-45 to table the amendment, effectively killing the proposal that Sens. Ben Nelson (D-Neb.) and Orrin Hatch (R-Utah) introduced to keep taxpayer dollars from paying for insurance plans that cover abortion.

More than two-thirds of the abortion clinics in the United States have closed since 1991, according to a new report by a pro-life activist organization. There were nearly 2,200 abortion clinics in 1991, estimates Operation Rescue. Today, there are just 713 clinics.

A Canadian judge last week exonerated a former pastor who was charged of committing a hate crime for sending a letter to a local newspaper criticizing homosexuality. Judge E.C. Wilson overturned a 2008 ruling by the Alberta Human Rights Commission that ordered former Alberta pastor Stephen Boissoin to stop all public criticisms of homosexuality and to pay the plaintiff $5,000 in damages, according to The Canadian Press.

The latest Gallup poll finds President Barack Obama’s approval rating comes in at 47%–the lowest of any president at this point in their administration. Perhaps most Americans have indeed awakened to the fact that we have a radical Marxist in the White House who despises American values.

We know a lot of liberals in the education establishment (and elsewhere) are infatuated with Barack Obama, but this is taking it more than a bit too far. Several Missouri schools have received notebooks and pencils from a supplier that come complete with Obama logos and slogans on them.

It takes a lot of sacrifice to save the earth from imaginary climate disasters, you know!
