“If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude than the animated contest of freedom, go from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains sit lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen!” – Samuel Adams

71% of Americans Angry at Federal Government

j0433180Apparently the outrage of Americans with their government wasn’t just a flash in the pan that manifested itself during the town halls and Tea Parties, only to quickly disappear. Americans are still fed up at seeing their own government zealous to sell out their freedoms and the fruits of their labor.

From Rasmussen Reports:

Seventy-one percent (71%) of voters nationwide say they’re at least somewhat angry about the current policies of the federal government. That figure includes 46% who are Very Angry.

These figures are up from just a few months ago, and 71% believe the federal government has itself become a special interest group that looks out for its own interest over that of the people it exists to server.

You know, if I was an elected official up for re-election in 2010, I would be terrified for my re-election chances.  I would do my best to make sure my constituents knew I was NOT a part of the current mess, that I wasn’t behind the porkulus aka stimulus waste, the cap and trade global warming tax, or the push to socialize health care.

Can anyone say, “1994″?  That is, if the Republicans can pull their heads out of the dark parts long enough to start acting like Republicans, and start showing some leadership.

Still, “we the people” might not wait for incumbent Republicans to get their act together.  They just might recruit conservative candidates or run for office themselves, tossing out in the primaries bunches of Republicans who are confused about what party they should be in.

It’ll be interesting to see how this high level of anger manifests itself in the primaries and the election next year.  Yes it will!
