Orwellian Carbon Allowances on the Horizon

BigBrotherOnce you start down the road of idiocy that is environmentalism, there is no stopping…until you plunge over the edge of the abyss.

Some in Great Britain are talking about issuing “carbon allowance” cards to British citizens which they would have to produce anytime they purchased goods or services which “contribute to their carbon footprint.”

From the British Telegraph:

Ruth Lea, an economist from Arbuthnot Banking Group, told the Daily Mail: “This is all about control of the individual and you begin to wonder whether this is what the green agenda has always been about. It’s Orwellian. This will be an enormous tax on business.”

She’s right. This kind of Marxist intrusion has no place in Britain…and it darn sure has no place in the United States. Yet you can be sure that if they get away with it in Europe, the socialists in America will be clamoring yet again about how we need to make the same mistakes as Europe catch up to the Europeans and be like them.

This kind of Big Brother oppression and meddling would be offensive enough if there really was an anthropogenic global warming problem–but there isn’t!

The so-called “evidence” for man-made global warming is laughably thin, a paper-thin shell of actual science filled with conjecture and hysteria.

Meanwhile, the evidence against AGW, that any planetary warming is a natural, cyclic phenomenon, is overwhelming.  Consider just a few of these compelling facts:

If Greenland was warm enough 1,000 years ago (when there were no SUVs or power plants) to be colonized by the Vikings and sustain vineyards, then the current state of the climate (when most of Greenland is covered by ice) cannot rationally be blamed on human activity.

If temperature data going back hundreds of years (long before there were SUVs driven by evilcapitalists) tracks with solar activity (and it does) including colder and warmer periods, then the current global temperatures cannot rationally be blamed on human activity.

If NASA data agrees with other data that solar activity is cyclic and corresponds to global temperature (and it does), then the current global temperatures cannot rationally be blamed on human activity.

When we see solar activity diminish, and we see global temperatures level off correspondingly (while human industrial activity has not diminished), then recent global warming cannot be rationally blamed on human activity.

If historical examination of the Peruvian ice cap shows higher global temperatures in the past (when there were no SUVs and coal-burning power plants), then the current global temperatures cannot rationally be blamed on human activity.

If other planets like Mars and Jupiter (where there are no evil capitalist-driven SUVs and coal-burning power plants) are warming, too (and they are), then current global temperatures on earth cannot be rationally blamed on human activity.

Even the claims of Gore and other earth-worshippers that there is “consensus” and this is “settled science” are a farce, with thousands of scientists refusing to drink the Koolaid and scientific organizations around the world declaring the emperor has no clothes, blowing claims of “consensus” completely out of the water.

In other words, if we open our eyes and take a look around us and at history, and we see global temperatures and temperature changes in the past that obviously had nothing to do with human industrial activity (because there was no industrial activity), it quickly becomes apparent that the theory of anthropogenic global warming is ludicrous in the extreme.

Now, if we plan on inconveniencing ourselves in the slightest (much less cause genuine hardship for the poorest among us, as this nonsense surely would), then we are the most foolish of all possible fools.

What kind of moron goes through such gyrations and sacrifices his liberty to shadow box with a problem that doesn’t even exist?

It’s no wonder the number of people who believe this silly theory continues to dwindle; when you stop mindlessly swallowing the drool that pop culture is feeding you, it’s so easy to see what a bunch of nonsense it is.

Americans, have you had enough of this insanity?  Isn’t it time we stopped coddling and humoring these nut-job?  Isn’t it time we denounced this environmental extremism for the un-American assault on our freedom it is?

You bet it is!

  1. Remember the lesson of “The Boy Who Cried Wolf”. The assumption that there is or ever will be man-made Orwellian climate change is the big dead elephant in the room. Remember global warming? I think all the politicians on the bandwagon need to be replaced by public servants who can objectively evaluate scientific and technical data. The EPA has been dominated by extremists since the first Earth Day, and are part of the problem.

  2. I have a suggestion. Let's have a five year trial period with a small sample of the True Believers of global warming testing this idea. Lord Smith of Finsbury, Prince Charles, Al Gore and the Board of Directors of Greenpeace will be asked to live on 2 tons of CO2 each year for five years. At the end of the period we will ask their opinion on the concept. I suspect that this proposal would go no further. derekcrane
